He Came to Stay

Based on the real-life incidents of the author it is a semi-autobiographical story. It depicts how people behave under different circumstances.

This story was set in the East Indian city of Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), which in spite of having a cosmopolitan character is proud of its traditional Bengali culture and cherishes it by heart. The story centers in and around the place of Suman, a middleclass guy much admired in his friends’ circle for his gym-toned body, chiseled face and talent in music. He is an amateur fiddler of some repute and has a good job. But would the entire splendor that he has together with the admiration that he gets suffice to make him happy in life?
