Hubris 1. Hubris Nemesisverse

There are currently no reviews.
Sub-genres: Drama, General Romance

This is a collection of short stories about supporting characters and antagonists from my novel Nemesis. It's probably not necessary to read Nemesis to enjoy these, but if you intend to read Nemesis you should probably do so first, as this contains spoilers.

Whenever I got stuck while writing Nemesis, when I wasn't sure about a character's motivations, I wrote a short tale or a few scenes from that character's point of view. Eventually, I decided that these stories should also be told. Find out what happened to Alan after inadvertently coming out, learn about Matt's first love, see how Craig became the evil bastard he is and much, much more.

I really, really like Matt. He was really sweet and sensitive to Alan's feelings in this chapter. I was just surprised that Alan admitted to Matt, just like that, to being gay.

Although I understand Alan's motives for bullying other kids and taking out all his frustrations about his father and about himself on his victims, I still see it as doing real damage to the kids he bullies. Sure, there are plenty of kids like Nick who can stand up to their attackers with a quick comeback, but there are more kids out there who get bullied so much it really affects their self-esteem and there's no reason for it.

I wish all these kids who bully others b/c they're so afraid to confront their own feelings and shortcomings, would just talk to someone or find some other outlet for their feelings besides bullying.

There, I've said my peace. lol I'm looking forward to your next short story, Thorn. :)

Matt's a sweetheart. The next story is about him and his first love... ;) I think with Matt's help Alan can really become a better person. He's seen the consequences of his actions. All he needs now is for someone to care for him and accept him. I think Alan had really been longing to come out to someone properly for a long time. Matt provided that opportunity for him.

I'm glad you enjoyed this story! :)

Don't know how I missed this extra story when I read Nemesis, but I'm really glad I found it. Even if I had to read Nemesis again, just to be sure I remembered the story line right. But it was worth it to seeing Alan redeemed somewhat. Apart from the intimate scenes, which were great, I really liked the bit where Alan saved Nick from the two other bullies. That was cool and also the way he stopped himself from being an idiot when Matt came on to him.

Alan has grown in so many ways, I'm so proud of him! :)
