The year is 1891, and the Wild West is dying. Alvarez is a smartly dressed, smooth-talking bandito riding north with a stolen fortune, a lethal six-shooter, and one very spoiled cat. He travels alone, until he finds a half-frozen boy bleeding in the cold mud. Devon is an exile, violently banished from his Mennonite community and hunted by the very boys who broke him.  As they ride together, Devon's cold logic clashes with Alvarez's flashy chaos. Slowly, the pinstriped killer and the battered runaway must learn to trust each other before the past catches up to them both.

This is a well written, entirely addictive story that I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend. The setting in the awkward transition period of the “old” Wild West into the 20th C. makes for incredibly interesting reading while the author explores the universal themes of religion, power, fear and the redemptive power of love. Five thumbs up.

This is a wonderfully written story of the Wild West in 1891.

We meet Devon, a young man banished from his community and hunted by the boys, who helped get him banished.

We have Alverez, a bandito who has a six shooter, a stolen fortune and a well pampered cat.

You need to read on to discover how they meet, the danger that is created and much more.

Give it a read, you will not be disappointed.
