April Musings - 25. Scattered and Afterlife

Scattered

Drawn and quartered

By competing updrafts,

Gray whirlwinds

Complete the journey home.

Afterlife

A year to the day later,

The letter you wrote

Expressing love not

Diminished by decades,

Was placed to draw my

eyes’ and heart’s attention

A month after you answered

The call to otherworldly duty.

Some random thoughts and musings.  The second is based off a true story that happened to a friend of mine.  Thanks to Parker for reviewing these for me.  And thanks for reading.  All reactions, comments, and thoughts are appreciated.  :)

Scattered could be the weather, or a metaphor for where a person is in their life... it resonated beautifully with me.

Afterlife shows both the pain and the blessing of timing. Well done, both, Val.

Thanks for reading and commenting  I was curious as to how people would interpret "Scattered".  I like your interpretation and it's definitely fitting.  What I had in mind when I wrote it was someone's ashes scattered to the wind.

When I read the FB post that inspired "Afterlife", it immediately brought tears to my eyes.  I'd like to think her husband is still looking after her.  :)

I love both of these. You evoke images and backstories that let my imagination explore.

Thank you, Parker.  That's a lovely compliment.
