In a society where manifesting a strong gift is everything, how does one navigate without any power? Especially when you come from a family celebrated for theirs. Kalian Alauis, discouraged and frustrated stumbles into a strange alley one day and the entire trajectory of his life changes dramatically.

Kalian is suddenly dealing with a king, a queen, an obsession, an unwanted marriage, and the fight for his very life. On top of this, he finds himself enamored with a man who seems to always be out of reach.

Maybe being invisible was easier?

All Seth wanted was ramen. A small, androgynous, blond was not on his shopping list. Nor was an outspoken new friend and therapy. He’d obviously turned down a wrong aisle somewhere.

Noah has a great best friend, a great job, an okay car, and an awesome apartment. Things are great. Except he’s watching his life from inside the closet. Also, he has…eclectic tastes. Most of which involve lace and silk. He didn’t mean to take “niche” and run with it.

Will the closet door open? Will everyone accept Noah? Most importantly, will Seth get his ramen?

The plan was simple: survive high school and get the hell out of his hometown.

Alec Kennedy failed miserably.

He fell in love. Unfortunately, he still carried out his plan and left town. Leaving his first love behind.

Years later, Alec's forced to return home to deal with an unexpected family emergency.

There was a new plan: desperately try to avoid his former partner.

He failed miserably again.

There seems to be a pattern here.

Everything had wrapped up the way he wanted. The country had attained peace. The people were prospering, the country was prospering, and personally Kalian was thriving. Things were perfect and he was...bored. He hadn't wanted a life of violence but now thrust into a life a bureaucracy, he found he wasn't happy either. He soon finds himself wishing for a break from the monotony.

He should know by now that you should be careful what you wish for.

One obstacle has been overcome, but in it's place, many more arise.

Can Kalian navigate a completely foreign battlefield with the help of his rag tag band?

Battles, new allies, new foes, politics, deep-rooted commitment issues, and the first real look at what Kalian Alauis is really capable of.

Pink hair, piercings, eccentric fashion, and a crippling, all-encompassing fear of commitment. Which is just fear of abandonment all dressed up for the party. Internal struggles aside, River has plenty of options.

The issue is, they all pale in comparison to what will be a monumentally bad decision.

They weren't supposed to meet. He wasn't supposed to like him. It was never supposed to become more.

The universe had different plans.

Things get messy and feelings get hurt.
