January Csr: Joe The Welder By Robert Rex

This month I thought I'd feature one of our newer authors, Robert Rex, and his story Joe the Welder. So how about some contemporary romance to kick off the new year?

by Robert Rex

Length: 28,206
Rating: Mature

Description: A gritty story of a casual meeting that turns into more than you might expect. You'll meet Rex, a real estate agent, Joe, a new-to-town out of work welder, and watch as people and events occur that shape their lives. You'll have a first row seat to a story that reflects adult situations, adult language, sex--and personal development--as well as a fun approach to life.

A Reader Said: You are a gifted storyteller. ~ Charlieocho

This month's discussion day will be Monday, January 26th.

I loved this story when I first read it on another site and was extremely happy that Rex decided to post it here. His writing style makes the characters feels very down to earth.

I would like to respectfully take issue with the term "gritty." While the sex is explicit, the narrative is very gentle and sweet. Dare I say, romantic :)

This is what GA is for! We were all newbies once, right? Seriously, The Price of Honor is my first story and I didn't have an editor either. Ughs. Train wreck, I swear. The enduring lesson I've taken from my experiences here on GA is that we all have something to learn, and who better to help out than fellow authors and editors?

I was happy to feature your story, Robert! :)

This is one of those stories that grabs you and stays with you. The characters are real and endearing as they work through and figure out what they want in life. The main characters really have hearts of gold and the secondary characters contribute much. Sometimes it is nice to read about mature men and the circumstances of their personal journeys and I can't imagine anyone being disappointed in this story or the author, who has a unique, no nonsense style all his own. I am working with Robert on his new story, Landfall...and I can tell you that he is a pleasure as an author and as a man. Please check out Landfall, where we see Robert Rex really come in to his own. His new story is a revelation IMHO...

I'm glad Robert has decided to post stories here. I'm following Landfall with a rapidly beating heart - and occasional drooling. :P

Thanks for the congrats, Mann, Valkyrie!  I look forward to your input on "Joe", and if you do get a chance to read "Landfall" (in progress now), you input will make a difference there, too!

Carlos, Irritable, and Timothy are already doing "Landfall", and they've been gracious to provide comments and encouragement.

I really don't know who else of this august group has read "Joe".

And as for Headstall--well, Gary has been invaluable in keeping me on track as well as providing kind words that motivate me to write more and better.  "Landfall" is a different story, far more complex than "Joe", and Gary not only reads/edits it critically, but manages to motive me to keep writing!  He's done a great job, and become a good friend.

I look foward to not only chatting with you on the 26th, but all along through chat!
