Prompt Me!

Well, we're slowly making our way into the year and we already are up to the third Friday of the month. If it is Friday, then it is time for some new prompts. So let me see what I can tempt our writers to create this week. Just a reminder - any story under a thousand words needs to part of a collection.

Prompt 472 – Creative
Tag – First Line
“When did you expect me to get that done?”

Prompt 473 – Creative
Tag – Personal Pet
The last thing you expected was a pet from your partner. However, they felt you shouldn’t be alone when they have to go out of town. What freaked you out was when they told you they had spent a lot of money on the new biotech pet which is created from your DNA. What sort of pet did you end up with and what does your DNA do to this personal pet?

Last week there were two prompts as well as the poetry prompt.

Looking at the Childhood Verse Poetry Prompt there were a few attempts. I really enjoyed J.HunterDone's take on this form of poetry.

Hiding place

The table is my castle roof,
the cloth serves as my wall.
Here do I live with Bear and Woof
for I am still quite small.

From here I only see some shoes
and coal-fire in the stove.
The warmth of which does make me snooze
here in my little cove.

There were also works on the prompts from last week. It seems people enjoy the list of words prompts because three people took a shot at that one. While all three were varied and different, Graeme's story of a thrift shop sort of stole my interest.

John was looking through the shelves at his local thrift store. He had decided to stop by today since he needed to find a gift for his friend's birthday.

As he was looking around the shelves, he was trying to decide what sort of gift he want to get for his friend. Should he walk on the wild side and get something weird, or should he stay on the safe side. Thinking of his friend, he decided to take a walk on the wild side. After, you only turn 21 once.

As he was making this decision, he noticed a pair of trick handcuffs laying on one of the shelves. It looked like they came from some sort of magic set, but all he could see were the handcuffs themselves. Picking them up, he noticed that they still had the key that came with them originally.

So that is it for this week's prompts. Hopefully, someone will find a prompt interesting and take a chance to create something new and post it. As always enjoy the new work our authors are working on. Remember to take a time to read, write, and comment. 'Til next time be safe and enjoy.

Thanks, comicfan, for highlighting the poetry prompt. Also thanks for including Peter's poem. The responses to this this prompt have been wonderful. I hope everyone has a chance to check them out and encourage our budding GA Poets.
