I finished my first week of work in a permanent job this afternoon. It's been a long time since I knew where my next check was coming from.

Don't get me wrong. Contracts can be fun- if you can get enough work to survive. It's feast or famine and way too much famine.

I don't make the same hourly rate but I'll make much more over the long haul because of consistency. No weeks (or months *shudders*) in between.

It's so good to go home for the weekend and know the job will be there on Monday.

Maybe I'll even mellow out because the stress of uncertainty is no longer there.

I wouldn't count on it.
