Patriot Games by Tom Clancy

I have been a fan of Tom Clancy's books since about 1991 or so when I first read Hunt for the Red October.  The books tend to be almost the only books I read outside of Fantasy and Sci-Fi.  I'm a bit behind on the latest books that have the co-authors (since Tom Clancy is no longer with us) started up.  I have spent many, many enjoyable hours reading his books.  Patriot Games is the first of the Jack Ryan books.  (Hunt for the Red October is 2nd, I think it is).  He has 3 intertwined series.  John Clark, Jack Ryan and Jack Ryan Jr.

I'll post more in the future.

Clancy is a guaranteed good read. His "Debt of Honor" foretold a 9/11 style attack back in 1994.

Tom Clancy was a wonderful writer. His writing submersed you in the world you were reading. The ones not written by him are lacking something. Just not quite the same. Hard to carry on someone else’s vision. Same with Stieg Larsson. Great choice Myr.

While Clancy wasn't necessarily the best writer (his characters were as flat as carbon paper), his scenarios and how he played them out were awesome. Red Storm Rising and The Cardinal of the Kremlin were my favorites. While I've seen the movie adaption of Patriot Games, I've never read that one surprisingly. Maybe I'll have to go do that sometime soon.

I liked both of those.  Red Storm Rising is actually something I'll be reading soon.  It is hard to choose a favorite, though I really liked The Bear and the Dragon.  I'll post a review on them as I get to them in my rereading frenzy. lol

I've read all the Jack Ryan, John Clark and Jack Jr. stories. I particularly enjoyed Rainbow Six.
