I got a PM last night from someone who I thought was being really cool. I won't say the persons name here, but if they read it, they'll know who they are. Anyway, I was having trouble getting into live chat, and this person sent me a pm giving me ideas about how to get in. Finally, I got in and it took about 5 minutes for the ambush to begin, so I played along. I didn't realize that what was discussed in the soapbox was going to be used against me in live chat, but I soon found my self fighting against 3 other members who took it upon themselves to try to team up against me. Now, I didn't have any trouble with them. In fact, their argument was ridiculous. So I had no trouble fending them off. But then they started making snide and hatefull comments about how someone in your family dying is luck, and that people who inherrit money when one or both of their parents dies are lucky. I kept debating, but I have to say that I expected more, even from those 3. So, unfortunately, I realized last night that whay happens in the soapbox doesn't stay in the soapbox, and that I will be attacked anywhere I go on this forum or in live chat. But thats fine, because I didn't come here to worry about what other people think about me. I came here to read stories and have serious discussions about them. If I see something in the soapbox that I think is wrong, Im going to reply, but Im going to do that in the soapbox, not in live chat or in another section of this forum. You see, unlike the ones who tried to ambush me last night, I have enough common sense to understand when enough is enough. Telling me that my mother dying was lucky went to far. So Im only going to say this one more time in my blog and then Im not going to use this space to talk about this subject ever again:::::Im not sorry that I disagree with the people who hate my views. I am not some robot who walks around blaming the democrats or the republicans for every little problem we have in this country. I especially find it offensive when people think that just because Im gay, I should always come out against President Bush and the republicans. KenderClearic said it best last night when he called President Bush a good man who leads with his heart. That's what this nation wants, and that's why they re-elected him. If you find his leadership so unbearable, start working right now to make some kind of difference in 2008. Right now, the only thing that you are doing is showing your ass when you make desperate comments about the Bush administration. Look for the viable arguments, then make them. But don't you dare try to attack me when I come into live chat looking for a freind who was nice enough to invite me in, then act like nothing's wrong when he gets there. If you think that personal responsibility is such a horrible thing, say so, but save it for the soapbox.*******************************************************************Well, now that I have wasted valuable blog space on that subject, I can move on to something worth my time. My bf and I decided to spend out last Saturday night of the summer inside. We were invited to go to a party, and we were going to go, but we decided that the goth scene is just to much for us..lol. I guess we're kinda straight acting, and the freind who was throwing the party is actually straight himself, and he has the coolest gf, but most of the people he invited from the oceanfront are goth.So we just hung out last night and I actually got to the point in my story where I meet my bf and we hang out. Even though I liked him then, I didn't know for sure if that was because I was gay or because he was so cute..lol. (same thing I guess). After a while I crashed but I woke up at like 4 in the morning and he was still up on the computer chatting away, so I made him come to bed and keep me warm. My dad has this thing about the AC.....he never thinks it's cool enough in the house, so it stays on all day and all night long...brrrrr :thumbdown: Well, anyway, I just wanted to say hi to Mikie before I go.....Thanks for inviting me into the chatroom yesterday. I think you're a total sweetheart for doing that :wub::wub::wub: ......I hope everyone here has a good rest of the weekend.KissesNickolas

I'm the one who invited you into chat, but I assure you that I didn't have any intent to ambush you or even talk politics when I invited you in. I PM'd you because Mikie wanted to chat with you and said you were having trouble getting in, so I just tried to help so you two could chat.

 

We did end up talking politics privately at first, and I enjoyed the discussion & thought you handled yourself well. It spilled over into the main chat window because it was impossible for me to handle both a discussion with you and in the main room as well, and so when others asked what we were talking about, it was natural to move the discussion into the main room. I'm sorry that it turned into a situation where you felt you were ganged up on!

 

But I repeat, I had no intention for that to happen when inviting you into chat, and I'm sorry that that did happen.

 

Just one point of clarification: NO ONE was saying it was lucky that your mom died! Nobody here would want ANYONE to be deprived of their parents' love. The point we were trying to make is that if you come into a large inheritance, it has nothing to do with you. You're just lucky that the person you were related to happened to be rich; you're NOT lucky that the person you were related to died.

 

You ARE welcome here, and I personally think you are very bright and have a lot to offer :2thumbs: . We disagree on many things clearly, but people can disagree and still be friends, as I hope we'll be.

Nicholas...um, you know I think you are cool..even if we disagree (but we do have things in common..like my Mom died when I was an infant too..but that's another story)

 

My nephew is 15 and is a Bush supporter like you.....must be the name..hee hee.

 

In any event, I just have one thing I have to say..and I don't say this to bash you..it is just one of my pet peeves..I abhor the term "straight acting"..first of all, I am Gay and why would I want to act straight? grrr....and second of it...it makes me feel less then by saying that Gays should "act" straight to be worthy as a person. We are Gay and that's cool....I just want to state that..and hey you are cool.

 

I am sure you didn't mean it that way...and lots of Gay people say it..its just my pet peeve...

 

and aren't Gays who are Goth allowed to be Goth and do straights who are Goth in style not straight?

 

ok, enough of my pet peeve....and I do enjoy our give and take and repartee of Soap Box posting.....like I said its like talking to my nephew...he just does the eye roll thing with me..but he thinks I am cool and sane anyway.....and I think you are too....and I hope you think we are cool with each other...

 

Ok, when Snow Dog reads this, he will do the eye roll thing..he teases me about the use of my favorite word "cool" since I tend to use it a lot(no its not the word "progressive" or "liberal"...)

Hey Micheal,

 

I would never say that gay bois shouldn't act gay. If thats who they are, then thats who they are...I guess it was just a characterazation(am I spelling this right??) on my part. As far as the goth thing goes, Im just not into the whole goth scene. Most of our freinds play sports and listen to rap, just like me and my bf. Actually, we've had the same group of freinds since 3rd grade. I guess its just a social thing.

Also, I think the word cool is cool(lol..sorry snow dog). Your nephew sounds smart. The only reason I come off the way I do is because I see things for what they are, plain and simple, and I appreciate your views as well, even if I don't agree with them. One of my biggest problems with the dems is the fact that most of them are against gay marriage. I mean, can they explain why?? At least the repubs say that they think its against gods law, even though they're idiots. As a gay person, I dont know how anyone could ever vote for a dem or a repub

um, trust me, there are Republicans and Democrats who support same sex marriage...you are incorrect to say that Republicans see it as a religious issue but Democrats don't....so you can't support Democrats...

 

there are individuals in both political parties that support same sex marriage and individuals in both political parties that don't..

 

the Republicans and Democrats that use religion as a basis to state same sex marriage should not be allowed forget one thing. A marriage license has absolutely NOTHING to do with religion...it is a licensed issued by states and always has been and always will be.....churches and religions have zero to do with the issuance of the license and zero to do with validating a license.

 

so, its a bogus argument that government should ban same sex marriage based upon religion since we have separation of church and state.

 

but, then again, that's a topic for the SoapBox

 

I don't know a thing about Goth..so I can't comment..my comment about "straight acting" is general in nature and not meant to attack you....just one of my pet peeves.....lots of Gay adults state it and when said to me, I tell them why would I want to act straight? how does one act straight or gay? pleaseeee! its just a silly comment/term to use...how about just be yourself (not meaning that you should..you are yourself..lol)

 

but oh well, I digress and my nephew is smart..he just hates to read (my niece is like me and loves to read) and he drives me crazy since he like history but won't read about it.....and I wish he would..but he is his own person..so that's cool by me..and he knows I think he is cool...even if he is Bush Republican (my whole family is...me, no way...I am an Independent..a fiscal conservative and a social progressive and proud of it!)

 

and that means that you wouldn't vote for Bush either since you said you wouldn't vote for either party (and I mean if you could vote..since I know you have to wait until you are 18)

 

so, whom would you vote for? oops..thats a soap box issues..sorry..lol

lol...you didnt offend me by calling me nico....my grandpa on my dads side calls me that all the time, so it's cool....I just thought that mikies post was so sweet
