Punk Kid - Part Two

Well, I haven't heard back from Danielle's mom yet, and I'm really not sure I want to because I'm pretty certain that she's so far gone that nothing even my great words *insert proper amount of humility here* can repair. That said... Tony did get a reply.

Dear Tony,

I realize that it has been several days since I received your letter and it is only now that I am taking the time to respond. I have read your words carefully and realize that you are very passionate about your beliefs. I have thought long and hard before responding because I too am very passionate about my beliefs. The difference between us though, is that you believe in the concept of God and I believe in the "Personage" of God. You believe that a person has the right to establish their own "moral" code, while I believe that God through the Bible establishes what that "code" MUST be. I truly thought about answering all of your religious opinions with the Bible, but then I concluded that I should not. I am only answering your letter because you made a mockery of all that I believe in. You even put me and the family of God on the same level as Hitler and the Nazi's. It is for these reasons that I am giving this "one time" response to your claims. However, what you believe is certainly up to you. If you choose not to believe in The God of Heaven, you are certainly entitled to do so. If you choose not to believe that Jesus Christ is God's Son, and that he died to be the Savior of the world, be my guest. God did not create us and then make us serve Him. He created us with free will, wanting us to have the desire to serve Him. Tony, I have that desire! I believe that the Bible is true! I believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God! I believe that because the Bible says that of itself. I believe that the Bible is all sufficient because 2 Timothy 3: 16-17 says so. You see Tony, when you give an answer as to why you believe the way that you do, you respond with your personal "feelings". That's not good enough for me! When I give someone a reason as to why I believe the way that I do, I quote book, chapter and verse. If you are truly interested in the things that I believe in, I would gladly talk to you using God's Word. However, if the common denominator cannot be the Bible, than we have nothing further to say.

I will just say this in closing. The Bible is not for private interpretation and God is not the author of confusion. The Bible says what it means, and means what it says. And it doesn't matter to me how many Philosophers have tried to disprove the Bible either. For as the Bible says, "Let God be true, but every man a liar." (Romans 3:4).

Sincerely,

[Danielle's Mom]

Yikes, right? Anyway, on the plus side, I heard from my beautiful pal  and that's fanfreakintastic cause I miss him something awful sometimes. Some people you just get, you know? You just WANT to love them cause they're a great person... I mean typically that's the ideal, but a lot of times you end up loving people because you're 'supposed to' which is cool, but when you find someone you WANT to love... that's just icing on the cake. :D

Matty called me his girl today! :D:wub: I won't lie... I LOVED it! :*)

OH! And... I feel like I have to share this, but at the same time I want to be greedy and keep it all to myself cause it's SOOOOOOO good, but I found a new (not new to writing, but new to me) author I'm absolutely loving, and I won't even embarass myself by telling you the depths I'm going to to prove that. Anyway, totally check him out, he's f**king awesome! Matthew Haldeman-Time If you click on his short stories section down a ways, I can definitely recommend 'Two Bodies' and 'Third and Madison' and 'Who Knew' but I can tell you I've read every one and none of them will let you down! :D Happy Reading!

Hugs,

Viv

I've got one better! I believe in the Tooth Farie, as a kid, every time I lost a tooth she would leave a quarter under my pillow. Every Time!!! So I've got tangible proof, oh, and a few bucks too!!!

You can't argue with faith. When someone takes a book like the Bible literally you get what, Osama bin Ladin right? All rational goes out the window never to return even though the mere fact that you are reading the book in English means someone interpreted it for you already. Not to mention the fact that a group of men sat around picking and choosing what would and would not be included. Must have been divine inspiration because that happens to me like two or three times a week. I won't even go into the fact that neither god or anyone in the immediate family wrote a single word of it.

Hey their are people that would go and pray to a spot of dirt on a window. Seriously, I saw this on the news yesterday, people gathering to pray in front of a spot of dirt on this hospital window. (I was really hoping that the window washer would come! Hahahaha!) They all think like their at Fatima or something, gezzzzz! "You know, if you tilt your head sideways and squint jussssst right, it does look like Ozzie!" Any god that would choose to make their presents known by putting a spot of dirt on a window (Or their face on a grilled cheese sandwich) rather than like saving some oppressed and endangered people (Like Darfor,) in my opinion, doesn't deserve the time of day.

Ok, I got that out of my system, I've got to run in a minute to do a novena :lol:

Okay... so this woman cares so much about what the bible says and for the moment I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that she's familiar with whats in the bible but....

I believe that the Bible is true! I believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God! I believe that because the Bible says that of itself. I believe that the Bible is all sufficient because 2 Timothy 3: 16-17 says so.

Apparently she doesn't know anything actually about the bible. Then theres the massive logical failure of "it must be true because it says it is" ... and the arrogance of "you're not allowed to respond with your feelings but i'm allowed to base all my opinions on the feelings of a bunch of people from 2000+ years ago and that makes me better than you."

This is why I will never, ever go to a church again, its why I view anyone who makes religion a major part of their lives with a cautious suspicion until i know they aren't like this crazy woman, and its why I doubt I'll ever view religion in general with anything other than suspicion for the supersition and utter failure to utilize rational thought processes.

Oh dear!

This lady seems to be a whole lot more ignorant and stubborn than the pastor I encountered last year -_-
