How many people are talking on their CP's in this restaurant?

This I have seen more than once. Having dinner at a nice restaurant. The people behind me sounded like they were all having a great time. So I looked. They were. But the strange thing, to me at least, was... They were all talking on their cell phones. I tried to reason this out. Maybe it was a conference call to a friend who couldn't make the party? But four people all talking at the same time and ignoring each other? Anyway have you ever counted the number of cell phone calls that happen while you enjoy your repast.

None... at least not to me. I used to hate it when my daughter sent texts when we were sitting down to a meal... I would really have drawn the line at a call. When we're eating or socialising that is what we're doing NOT talking on the phone.

 

As for others, well I wouldn't notice as I am usually absorbed in what i am doing... sometimes WAY too much. Next time I will make a point of looking.

I think it's totally rude to talk on the phone during a meal. I don't even like it when the regular phone rings at dinner time.

Some years ago, one of the two businesswomen sitting at the next table kept getting up to move to a private corner every time she received a cell phone call. After three or four such interruptions of her dinner meeting, the headwaiter actually chastised her for ignoring her guest. That's the only time I have seen that.

While driving on the interstate, we were passed by a convertible. The man and woman in the car were each talking on their cell phones. My wife wondered aloud if they were talking to each other.
