Leicht Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 I think the song give a powerful message, don't you think so? =D
DragonFire Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 She did this live on the X-Factor 2-3 weeks ago, awesome song.
Mikie Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 This song is fantastic. It's currently my new jam. Katy Perry songs have a way of doing that to me. Like listening to them on repeat a bunch of times. I'm doing a dance combo for my jazz class to this song =).
Zeoanne Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 That vid is awesome! Gave my eyes some moisture, especially with the lonely guy at the party when he kissed the other one. I really love Perry's music.
PrivateTim Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Lovely, but this has more meaning to me and message that really speaks to me. I am what I am I am my own special creation. So come take a look, Give me the hook or the ovation. It's my world that I want to take a little pride in, My world, and it's not a place I have to hide in. Life's not worth a damn, 'Til you can say, "Hey world, I am what I am." I am what I am, I don't want praise, I don't want pity. I bang my own drum, Some think it's noise, I think it's pretty. And so what, if I love each feather and each spangle, Why not try to see things from a diff'rent angle? Your life is a sham 'til you can shout out loud I am what I am! I am what I am And what I am needs no excuses. I deal my own deck Sometimes the ace, sometimes the deuces. There's one life, and there's no return and no deposit; One life, so it's time to open up your closet. Life's not worth a damn 'til you can say, "Hey world, I am what I am!" This song changed my life.
Rilbur Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 On firework, I wonder what it says about me that the single strongest scene in it -- to me -- is where the kid steps between his fighting parents. It's a touching song, but that makes me wonder about myself.
*HJ* Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I really love her music. What is so wonderful about this song is that it has a powerful message embedded into a wonderful party song, which reaches an even bigger group of people. Love it
Guest brileyblue11 Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 I love that song so much. Sometimes i feel like a loser, without any worth in this world but when I saw the video and hear firework, I felt like my strength was back again "Baby you're a firework, come on show em' what you're worth" I love the part when two guys kissed each other. I love the lyrics also. Totally inspires me. love Katy Perry
Tipdin Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Holy catz! I've heard the song but never paid attention to it. Watching the video, I had tears in my eyes! I love it!
old bob Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 (edited) what two wnderful songs . I should try to find such songs in my mothertongue, French..... I found one, here the translation in English : Malchik gay - Malchik gay Malchik - Malchik Handsome - Tender - Soft Why do you look right through me thinking "No" I can't deny my feelings Growing strong I try to keep believing dreaming on And every time I see you I crave more I wanna pull you closer closer - closer - closer but you leave me feeling frozen Malchik gay - Malchik gay I can be all you need Won't you please stay with me Malchik gay - Malchik gay Apologies, might-have-been's Malchik gay - Malchik gay can't erase what I feel Malchik gay gay - Malchik gay Malchik gay - Malchik gay Malchik - Malchik Choking - Back emotion I try to keep on hoping for a way; a reason for us both to come in close I long for you to hold me like your boyfriend ... does and though my dream is slowly fading I wanna be the object object - object - object of your passion, but it's hopeless Malchik gay - Malchik gay I can be all you need Won't you please stay with me Malchik gay - Malchik gay Apologies, might-have-been's Malchik gay - Malchik gay can't erase what I feel Malchik gay gay- Malchik gay Malchik gay - Malchik gay I can be all you need Won't you please stay with me Malchik gay - Malchik gay Apologies, might-have-been's Malchik gay - Malchik gay can't erase what I feel Malchik gay gay - Malchik gay and another one, by the Pet Shop Boys (2001) : I was backstage Couldn't believe my luck was in I saw him approach wearing the most approachable grin When he said "Hello" I was surprised He spoke so politely I said I'd liked the show Well, he just smiled I guess it happens nightly and so I fell in love We went to his room He had a video camera I was so nervous I had to try hard not to stammer vHe said "I'm glad you liked the show. That crowd was dope out there tonight" "Alright" "You wanna see some more? Well, be my guest You can have a private performance. I'd fallen in love" I didn't ask why though he seemed like such a regular guy He said we could be secret lovers just him and me then he joked, "Hey man you're name isn't Stan, is it? We should be together" And he was passionate I guess I would rate him a nine out of ten I'd fallen in love When I've asked why have I heard I so much about him being charged with homophobia and stuff he just shrugged Next morning we woke (secret lovers) He couldn't have been a nicer bloke All the breakfast made jokes about Dre and his homies and folks Neither of us asked if or when we would see each other again But I thought that was cool 'cause I was allready late for school By then I'd fallen in love Edited May 1, 2011 by old bob
Dark Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Holy catz! I've heard the song but never paid attention to it. Watching the video, I had tears in my eyes! I love it! Me, too! Wow. I don't think I'll hear that song again without really listening to it.
West Coast Dude Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 I notice her song is used as background music for a lot of movies, I watched like 5 rom-coms this week and it was at least in two! Can't remember the names though...
Nephylim Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 John Barrowman... what can I say WOOF WOOF WOOF. If only he wasn't gay.... Mind you Katy Perry... If only she was I Am What I Am is a song I have been singing LOUDLY in the shower for years and it ALWAYS makes me feel better. As for Firework I have to admit that like others I have listened and never heard... it's crazy how much a video can change the meaning of a song. Thank you
