K.C. Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I'm not very clever with coming up with things so I'll refer back to my childhood! This was one of my favorite riddles as a kid: On my way to St. Ives, I met a man with 7 wives, and each wife had 7 kids and each kid had 7 cats…cats, kids, and wives how many were going to St. Ives? 1
Andrew Q Gordon Posted June 21, 2011 Author Posted June 21, 2011 Anything goes right? Well I've been wondering about this for a while, but couldn't find the right time to ask. You used to have a penname on eFiction, right? What was it again? Ned something? Nope - well maybe for like a day but I never posted anything under it. When I signed up I did something screwy and ended up with two log on names. I didn't realize the two sides were separate sites so I . . . well I don't really know what the heck I did. Anyway they consolidated things and I was always Quonus10 on both halves - no not sure who Nedsomething is but it weren't me I'm not very clever with coming up with things so I'll refer back to my childhood! This was one of my favorite riddles as a kid: On my way to St. Ives, I met a man with 7 wives, and each wife had 7 kids and each kid had 7 cats…cats, kids, and wives how many were going to St. Ives? IDK. was anyone going besides you? I'll say 1. it's either that or 700 - cause I can't count or add that much in my head and I refused to take my shoes and socks off at work to help me count. 1
TrevorTime Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 On my way to St. Ives, I met a man with 7 wives, and each wife had 7 kids and each kid had 7 cats…cats, kids, and wives how many were going to St. Ives? This was actually used in the 3rd Die Hard movie. The answer is one, only the main character was headed to St. Ives. 1
jian_sierra Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Ok here I go again. I'm thinking of a number between one and ten, what's the number? You do realize you're helping me get to 501 posts in this thread of yours, right 1
AnytaSunday Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 LOL, it is 1, Andy. Has to be. Because only he (narrator) was on his way to St Ives. Hey, why don't you give us a riddle to solve? haha. do you know any? 1
TrevorTime Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 More like an album - Endgame -by Rise Against. Wow, I am sort of stunned here. Reason being is that I wouldn't expect Rise Against's musical genre to appeal to you, Andy. Can Fall Out Boy and Simple Plan be next up on the list? 1

Whew, at least I got one right today Ok here I go again. I'm thinking of a number between one and ten, what's the number? You do realize you're helping me get to 501 posts in this thread of yours, right Twelve?? anything I can do to help you along is good by me LOL, it is 1, Andy. Has to be. Because only he (narrator) was on his way to St Ives. Hey, why don't you give us a riddle to solve? haha. do you know any? Riddles? Sorry, riddles are not my strong suit - as is evident from my stellar performance with the ones you've given us so far Wow, I am sort of stunned here. Reason being is that I wouldn't expect Rise Against's musical genre to appeal to you, Andy. Can Fall Out Boy and Simple Plan be next up on the list? Simple Plan - not too familiar - Fall Out Boy is good. I have weird taste in music. I like Metallica, REM, Meatloaf and then the newer stuff by Blink, Sum and Rise. I refuse to live solely in the past music wise and try to keep up. I kinda of like Panic - or at least their new song but it is a bit poppish - though Wheezer's new stuff was good to 1
jian_sierra Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Twelve?? anything I can do to help you along is good by me Twelve??? Sorry, try again 1

Sara Alva Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Well, looks like I missed a barrel of laughs today I always thought that St. Ives thing was a nursery rhyme . . . though it is rather riddlish now that I think of it. This was my fave riddle as a child (wow what a nerdy kid, having a favorite riddle), but it seems kinda lame now A farmer is standing on one bank of a river, with a fox, a chicken, and a bag of grain. He needs to get to the other side of the river, taking the fox, the chicken, and the grain with him. The boat used to cross the river is only large enough to carry the farmer and one of the things he needs to take with him, so he will need to make several trips in order to get everything across. Problem is, he can't leave the fox unattended with the chicken, or the fox will eat the chicken, and he can't leave the chicken unattended with the grain, or else the chicken will eat the grain. How can he get everything across the river without anything being eaten? 1

I didn't see the 3rd Die Hard movie, I kind of stopped at 2! Me neither, but I remember: 'Yippee-ki-yay, motherf**ker.' 1
TrevorTime Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 A farmer is standing on one bank of a river, with a fox, a chicken, and a bag of grain. He needs to get to the other side of the river, taking the fox, the chicken, and the grain with him. I remember this from junior high, here goes. Farmer brings across chicken first, comes back alone. Brings fox across, comes back with the chicken. Brings grain across, comes back alone. Brings the chicken across, now all three things are on the other side. 1
AnytaSunday Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 So, will you make a 1000 before the day is out, or was it a bust? LOL! 1

What Sara said, but I still think 12 is the right answer. And what did you get the other gold star for? 1

Well I'm not exactly sure I meant it is as 1000 or bust yesterday - well yeah I did but I wasn't hell bent on it. So obviously, no I didn't make it BUT it most surely will happen today Two more after this
