The audio in this is absolutely horrible, but it gives you a great sense of what the middle school campus is like. Judging by the clothes, my guess is that this was filmed around 2000-2002, so these kids would be Will and JJ's "contemporaries", so to speak.

Is there something about California schools that compells them to film really cheesy videos? Seriously, that's been like a pattern with Malibu High, Gunn High, and now HW. Is the communications department really prized in California or something? Edited by methodwriter85

The environment at HW seems decidedly different from the one at Gunn High School 1980 or University School 1998. It actually kind of reminds me of what a much, much, MUCH better-funded Cab Calloway/Charter School of Wilmington would have been like.

With how many kids in Malibu & H-W are tied into "the industry" through family...... duh.

Mark, you know what this means, right? We have to include a chapter where Will and JJ get roped into filming a cheesy video for the end-of-year assembly.

It's was just funny that Nightmare at North Faring video, and seeing how young those kids are, and comparing it to what's going on with Will and his love for partying, pot, and sex, and realizing that Will is supposed to be the same age as these innocent young kids. Although you never know- like I said, I knew kids in 8th grade that were having sex and doing drugs, and it's not until looking back that I realize we were way too young to get into things like that. A person's physical maturity really goes play a role into how those junior high years play out- if you're like JJ and physically immature at 14, you're playing with video games and maybe holding-hands with someone under the table at lunch. If you're like Will and look like a hot 17-year old at 14, you're generally getting into sex, experimenting with drugs, and whatnot. That's been a very true-to-life detail about JJ and Will's 9th grade year.

Okay while this is not a video and it is not contemporanious to the story, any chance the boys knew any of these kids? :P

Harvard-Westlake (Calif.) High is expected to be one of the best baseball programs in the nation, if not the best altogether.

I just happened on this article while reading about dkstories's obsession [one of mine too, but a distant second to Soccer.]

It might be possible, but they wouldn't have grown up with them. Will and JJ are the class of 2004, which means a present-day high school senior would have been in 4th grade when these guys are graduating from high school. If they've got older siblings, it may be possible- but 8 years is usually too much ahead for you to know people who still go there. Unless Will and JJ became coaches at the school, but I don't see that happening. Will's not into team sports, and JJ gives the vibe that as soon as he's done with high school he's never looking back.

8 years isn't 18 so I don't think it's too out there. My neighbors kids were on one side 10-14 years older than us and baby sat us at times and on the other side, the people had kids when I was 10. And of course how many of my friends had older or younger siblings 8 or more years older/younger. But I didn't mean they'd be friends, just would they know them. Beside Will and JJ might be stopping back and getting all hot and bothered, even if they are 8 years younger LOL

I mean I could see it if Harvard-Westlake was a community school right by where they live, but my understanding of the school is that it's not really a neighborhood school, but a private school that attracts people from communities all around the Greater L.A. area. I don't know if I see JJ and Will being the type of people who come back to watch school sporting events, especially JJ.

It's possible, especially if these guys have older siblings that would have been at the school in 2000-2004, but I'm leaning towards "no".

Do Harvard-Westlake students get the day off for Election Day, or not? That was the norm for my public school days, but I'm assuming it might be different for private schools.

So much for Harvard-Westlake. Man. I'm kinda bummed. I really liked the idea that we'd get to follow a few legacy characters going to the same school.
