What Was Your Favorite News Story/Event of the Year?

Now that we're in the closing days of 2011, I thought it'd be interesting to talk about what new stories/events gripped us this year.

 

For me, it was the Royal Wedding,

 

 

The glamor and glitz of the wedding, the continuing of tradition...man it was beautiful. I wasn't alive when Princess Diana got married, so I was glad that I got to see a big royal wedding like that on t.v. And the Pippa Middleton white bridesmaid dress brouhaha was hilarious.

 

And the downfall of Penn State:

 

 

Penn State was a big deal to me because I'm attending graduate school in Western PA, and you always see people walking around in Penn State gear. I have a couple of friends who are from State College, so it was crazy to see how this story just blew up.
