iSimba Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 I need to be in a uncomfortable position with things I have to get done distracting me. It gives me urgency that helps.
Thorn Wilde Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I can write almost anywhere, at any time, as long as I'm inspired to. Having Internet access can distract me if I'm not super-inspired, though, so sometimes I go to the university library café and sit there. Since I'm not a student there, I haven't got access to their Internet. If I'm in a place with a lot of people talking, I sometimes listen to my iPod so I won't inadvertently start eavesdropping and forget what I'm doing. If I'm at home, I usually write in silence, though I occasionally put together playlists for some stories (my Nemesis playlist is made up of the Placebo songs the chapters are named for).
Sasha Distan Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 t I'm in my rattiest, and therefore most comfortable clothes you are so correct! I like a mix of "themed" music depending on the story and weirdly, old episodes of Wire in the Blood. Robson Green has a very relaxing voice. and no, i don't write about murder or the police, so it makes no logical sense.
wolfwriter Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Personally, I work the best with headphones in so that I can drown out my husband because he always chooses the times that I am trying to write to ask be the most annoying questions. If I am by myself I just turn on the music on my computer and just ignore everything else.
