LJCC Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 (edited) So, I've posted about 8 chapters in advance of my story that's meant to be publicly posted on a weekly basis using the scheduled posting feature. But I couldn't seem to find the latest chapter, chapter 2, on the sidebar with the list of stories that have the latest story updates. My story doesn't seem to be updated either if you look for my story on the stories tab. It says, updated on 02/07/2022 (the day where the 8 chapters were approved—me thinks), when, as per the latest chapter update scheduled for today, it should've been updated...today which is: 02/12/2022. I'm unsure if I should have just posted every chapter on the day of when I'm submitting it so that at least those interested in reading would have an idea that the story has a new update since it will pop-up on the exact date it's been updated. If in case that the remaining 7 chapters won't be prompted as a new story update, and the story gets stuck on 02/07/2022 as the date it was last updated, then is there any way to have the 7 remaining chapters deleted, so I may post it weekly instead? Site Administrator Popular Post Cia Posted February 12, 2022 Site Administrator Popular Post Posted February 12, 2022 1. There is a bug we've posted repeatedly telling authors not to edit chapters that are post dated. If you edit chapters once they are post dated they will revert back to the date you posted them, not the date you set them to publish. If you could go back in time, it would appear in the recent updates queue, just not today. All the chapters you have repeatedly edited will have to be deleted. If you post date them again, do NOT edit them once they are posted! You MUST wait until they publish. 2. If you PM site staff for help, wait for help. We need at least 24 hours to respond. We are all volunteers. For example, I work full time, I'm in college full time and today is my oldest kid's 18th birthday. We are all busy. We want to help, but we don't have paid customer service staff waiting at all times. Please be patient. 6
Site Administrator Popular Post Myr Posted February 12, 2022 Site Administrator Popular Post Posted February 12, 2022 Due to the way security is set up, it is STRONGLY advised that you do not edit a scheduled chapter before it posts. Looking at your story history, you have 7 pages of edits records. You have tempted fate entirely too much not to have discovered a new way to break things that we didn't anticipate. (for the historically minded, the security is locking publishing date upon first publicly publishing. Early on we had authors abusing the announcing system by editing their story to jump back to the top of the list. Then we'd get tons of complaints from users that the story was listed as new but wasn't. Most software fixes we do are to correct problems like this and then correct the problems those problems caused. This scheduling quirk has been our bane for 10 years. Every time the forum software updates or the story archive software updates, a new quirk shows up or an old one finds a new method to reappear. We only have the staff to stop the obvious and to verify our published process works) I have corrected chapter 2. However, you've done so many edits, I expect each further chapter will have an issue as well. 6

And yeah, I was guilty of editing a ton before the chapter was to be approved so I was tinkering with some minor fixes here and there like a raving madman. I'm sorry about the hassle @Cia. But thanks for the clarification. Already pm'd Cia about what to do with the remaining chapters. I promise to be a good patient boy for the remaining postings. 4

I turned 40 last August, but some days that feels decades off, especially with as little sleep as I get trying to do everything. I also got my youngest his driving permit this last week! That'll take years away too. 😵 1 2 1
