captainrick Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I saw this link on another site. Click on "We Belong" It's a video produced by a gay high school kid who . . . well, watch the video. Gutsy kid. Reminds me of our own Razor. Register and vote for this kid's vid. He only needs a hundred or so votes to put him on top. here's the link to the vid http://www.current.tv/make/vc2/sot;jsessio...2A6CBBC9CFA92EF hugs, Rick
Drewbie Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Thanks for sharing, I liked the message by the dad.
Xiao_Chun Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I hope that the skinhead Nazi Assistant Principal Forster will rot in hell. C.J, the boy in the video is right that you are not born a homophobe; you are educated to be one. So the blame is on the parents, schoolteachers, the principal and this assistant principal Forster who got C.J. arrested. We nee 240 votes for this movie to be number 1. I don

JamesSavik Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I have already voted for it. Sadly, it remids me of one of my old schools: you get the crap kicked out of you and you are called the troublemaker. That fat @ss-sistant principal looks out of place. He would look more at home on a prison work detail.
The Reaper Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 O man. I wish i had Tim's dad as a father. The assistant principals face was priceless when he said the thing about not being video taped. Looks a lot like my AP. I jus sent it to all my friends, hope they vote like i did. Ian
colinian Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 I'd already voted for "We Belong" a while back. I decided to see if Current would keep me from voting again (I'm pretty sure they would). Anyway, when I went to Current and tried to view the vid, I got this: Check Back SoonThis file is still under review. Something must be going on. Maybe the school district lawyers sent Current a "Cease and Desist" letter or something. I hope the kid gets the ACLU involved here. What a s****y school, administration, and school district! What's needed is a lawsuit with a lot of publicity. IMO, they need to have their asses hauled into court! Colin

I just need to wait until I've finished work to watch it properly. Graeme

I just registered again using my alternate email address and it let me vote again. The voting is a little complicated. You have to check the little box or circle under the vid, then press submit before it registers. But I did get my two votes in. Thanks for helping. Looks like a good cause. Rick

jalaki Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Voted here as well Great video, and kudos to CJ and Tim and their families. I hope we'll get to see CJ's documentary at some point as well.
PartsBoy Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 I grew up just south of Franklin where this takes place. It's not easy being different at all there. I know when I was in school, if you were on the football or basketball team you could do anything and the school turned a blind eye to it. My school superintendant was voted out because she made the statement that the school should focus more on education and less on the sports. This is just showing that nothing has changed in the area.
Formosa Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Hm, people can be so mean... My heart goes out to Tim and CJ and all those people out there suffering from discriminationg and oppression because of who they are. Thanks for showing this. I'm going to circulate this so more people can know about it. As much as the vid is 'closer' to home, there are others that are worth watching. All of them centre around human intolerance and suffering, but showing that there's some kind of hope: "Blood Brothers"-- a documentary about a gay, homeless teen trying to (re)build his life after a homophobic attack. The "Making of a girl", about youth sexual exploitation and abuse. "Darfur Rising" is also worth watching too, for obvious reasons...yet another example how the worst excesses of hatred and -phobias can do to people.
Silven Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 That was a really good vid. I wish we could make something like what C.J. was talking about happen. He is totally right about homophobia being a learned thing. I am not sure about actually getting a vid shown in school about it like he suggests, it would face a great deal of opposition. Although I can dream can't I? Silven
