  1. I think the most harmful part is the news (if you could even call it that) is so sensationalized, some of us just don't want to read it anymore (there is a difference between tabloid and news, and in our time, the differences between them are very blurred). The more of us don't care about policies that affect our lives, the more likely the democracy would falter. And of course Einstein said something like, "The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who standby and do nothing." That's the real danger.... We're so sick and tired of the news, and we turn it off and not doing enough to stop the spreading of misinformation. The other half of me is telling me, "the most malicious things often started out well-intended," as I often don't know if my help would turn out to be helpful, so I am very restrained with giving any intervention. Unless something is seriously wrong of course. Reading all that badly written fictional "news" is just absolutely sickening and harmful to my mental health. When the awful trend started back in early 2000's, I was like, "OMG, the return of yellow journalism" that we read about in history class (except Internet spreads it much faster and wider, and free!). Of course, the media must re-invent the wheel and call it "fake news" to sensationalize it.... Why people just don't research what they read? (My cousin has famously said, "who has the time to do that?) This is not a new phenomenon and you'd thought we got rid of it decades ago, as more people have become more educated and sophisticated.... Oh, I see what's the problem now.
  2. 12-hour work.... See if my memory is still correct.... Every 4 hours there should be a minimum of 10 minutes paid break (they should be as evenly distributed as possible. Many jobs offer 15 minutes, as it's common practice of the locality). You'll get a 30 min unpaid lunch and another 15 minute for dinner I believe in California, but I may be wrong. You do get 1.5x pay between 8-10th hour, and 10th hour to 12th hour should be 2x pay right (unless you're an exempt worker). As for 30-minute lunch vs 1-hour lunch it's a long debate among people. Some people with multiple jobs don't want long lunch (or lunch time at all, because they need to go to another job). So..., I am your weakness?
  3. I have to say I am quite jubilant right now.
  4. Okay, barging into this thread is like a grandma barged into a teenager's room.... (*drops all the muffins he baked*)
  5. That's great. Though no long speech under heated sun that makes everyone pass out, but able to receive diploma in person, that's a big deal to some people! Nice.
  6. Now I am very curious what's going on, but I shouldn't ask. Don't tell anyways, if it's something very private. Part of the reason I am here (despite there are certain some quirky issues) is because I feel I am safe around here. I hope that stays the same. Anyways, I am glad you are feeling better.
  7. Yes. I am very happy already seeing this. Thank you. It's going well so far. Good morning and I love that photo. Thank you!
  8. Yup, and my diaper was made of cheese clothe. And they said you shouldn't let kids suck on pacifiers because.... Well, just because I turned out to be gay....

    Here's To Us

OMG. I checked off many of those things on the list. I was born in the 70's!!! And I knew diaper was made of cheese clothes!
  10. Yup. LOL. I think ours was with electric tape also.... LOL. And old fashioned hair blower..., which probably weighs a ton, and you can smell your burning hair.
  11. It is..., that's how they make Soylent Green.
  12. So..., tell me what happened? *sits on the chaise lounge, listening*
  13. I suppose you don't know what's an *ss protector, either.
  14. It wasn't looking exactly like this, but I vaguely remember my mom had to constantly swat my hand off the fan guard.
  15. Gotta be careful with that sword. Queen looks happy that day.
  16. This is cruel and unusual. I want one!!!
  17. So nice you have a huggie bear at home. But we were talking about the very same thing the other day with my coworker. Those of us who decided to go to office tend to be the ones who prefer to have technical support from other coworkers on how to do a certain task, though we were given options to telework at home, but I can't.... There are too many reasons I don't like telework, really.... It's nice you guys have plexiglass. I hate wearing a mask (but it is necessary to be safe). Those straps of the mask cut off my circulation after I wear like how many hours a day and my ears really hurt.... LOL. Sometimes I have customers who does that. But..., I don't know you! Why are you calling me honey, sweetie, darling? Then I feel self-conscious about my voice.... Do I sound gay? But yeah, keep a good attitude. I like to stay positive as well. I had a random stranger at the train station telling me I have a sweet smile. Okay, my mind is in the gutter.
  18. Your job is to love him. 😛 LOL. Sorry. I used to work for managers like that.... And sometimes I feel it doesn't pay to work hard, as they really punish you for it (as I was punished to be held at a higher standard). EDIT: doesn't mean you shouldn't work hard, but we all are trying to do the right thing.
  19. It says the film is not available in my country and IMBD preview has no subtitle. :-(
  20. I passed the 40 mark.... I wish I could hang onto youth, but it's just reality. In my 20's and early 30's I was doing very well, but 40.... Well, you're married with a loving husband. Age is just a number for you, for me is a pressure. Anyways, that's one of the hung up for me about Love Simon, actually, or at least initially. He looked a bit old for a high schooler, but his performance won me over, though the thought "if they cast another person for the role of Nick..." type of thinking often surfaces when I watch that movie. That said, age appropriateness definitely would affect the audience's reception (and marketing). The Fault in Our Stars also cast someone older for title roles and it's the same situation as Love Simon, as I think older actors may not look the part, but you can't deny they're more experienced and brought some emotional depth to the character. Though age appropriate actors might have the advantage of naivete that's appropriate to the age of the character they're playing. Anyways, I am old, and talk like an old guy....
  21. Fell in love? 😮 Hey, it would work if they don't look old. Ashi is definitely too old to play a teenager though.... Anyways, I think recently I saw a movie about gay Christians and it was VERY awkward! I don't remember the name of the movie but it's like a Christian backyard pool party and the MC noticed more and more people are gay.... While their parents are hypocritically being drunk. It's just so WEIRD! It was MC's birthday party of course he ended up with a guy in his bed.... Did I say it's weird? Yes, it's WEEEEEIIIIIRRRRD!
  22. I wish your mom stay safe and healthy. It's very stressful in the mindset of that unknown, so just make sure she's alright (though smoking is no good but if she needs to de-stress herself...).
