  2. The secret to re-gifting is to give the gift back to the person who gave it to you. Say you loved your gift so much, you got them the same thing. If they know they got you something shitty and useless, well now they got it back, if they got you something really nice, you returned the favor
  3. I guess I'm the weird one who sleeps with my dog. I don't mind him at the foot of the bed, or even spread out next to me but sometimes he'd literally get up, walk up to the pillow and sit on my face....I guess my face is more comfy than my a bed.

  5. The only Harry potter movie I hated was the last one. And I didn't know why until I realized it was the only Harry potter movie I saw after I read the book.

    Biphobia

whatever it was I had wanted to say I accidentally deleted all of it so f*ck me and now all I'm gonna say is that bi guys are hot....like straight guys who admit they have a little things for guys are hooooootttttttttt.
  7. being the tightass you are, anyone older than 5 was probably too huge for you to take in.
  8. FYI there is a big difference between living life as a gloomy pessimist and living life realizing shit is about to hit the fan and taking an active role to ensure we don't drown in it ourselves. The only way we can improve our circumstances is to acknowledge and maybe even embrace all of our shortcomings instead of being delusional and just repeating to ourselves that things would okay, we're all perfect, and everything will all be fine.
  9. Perhaps it could. Perhaps being cynical is what prevents me from raising my expectations, hoping for the best and venturing into the bad part of town at night thinking I'm not going to get mugged or thinking that I'm not gonna pass out from eating something a rando gives me at a bar or that I'm not gonna get a disease from having unprotected sex all the time I think it does. Because it's also a constant reminder of everything that went wrong too. But none of this was my original point...my original post was me saying our generations are differently impacted because kids these days don't give a sh*t about anything other than maybe what the Kardashians are doing tomorrow.
  10. Is it still cynicism if one's fears are constantly being met? Distrust in the absence of untrustworthiness is paranoia and cynicism. Distrust in the presence of untrustworthiness is the new realism. Being positive isn't going to save my life the next time someone flips out with bottled teenage angst and shoot me at the mall.
  11. You are delusional if you think the current generation was impacted by 9/11 the same way you were by JFK and your father's generation by WWII. People in your generation did not dress up as a dead soldiers on Halloween and think it's funny. Burning Twin Towers Costumes I'd be surprised if half of the current generation can tell me what al-Qaeda is.
  12. the real controversy is how the store still has enough money to make commercials
  13. Sure do...I'd stick them in your condom but apparently it's too tight to fit anything else...unless of course you admit there's loose space?
  14. Basically New England people like to wear it loose is how I understand this

    Honestly?

Of course it's unbalanced. She supplied milk but no cookies??? And carrots with orange are total color clashes. Shoulda picked an apple, and a sour one because there were no greens.

  17. I don't think that's the reason in this case. Sure, I think we're doing an overall better job at teaching acceptance and people are becoming more accepting of all kinds of kinds but using "gay" to equate "bad" is just dying the same way I think any trend term dies with time....like how nobody says groovy or rad anymore.\
  18. Since you chose to say "almost" implying you admittedly know some cases are not fixable, what happens then? Are there exceptions to your rule? Also, can you provide some examples of the type of underlying parental caused problems you are referring to and the type of "fix" that have succeeded verses failed short term and long term and what the causes are for success vs non-success? Otherwise, you're just throwing out fortune cookie platitude.
  19. The same kind of "vows" are made by marrying couples..."in sickness or health, til death do us part" but divorces happen everyday. The same kind of commitment is made when you take a job but people quit prematurely all the time, there are dozens other examples. My point is that neither you, me or anyone who's never had kids know exactly what it's like. I don't believe people are made to be comfortable with the idea of an absolute permanent decision with no reversal. The societal trend these days if to make things even less permanent and that makes things more attractive. Think about no contract phone plans and no contract leases, people are willing to pay more for less strings. I agree with you that before we get into any contractual or permanent situations we need to carefully evaluate and make the best decision possible and do our best to commit to it, but just because we make a commitment doesn't mean things are going to pan out and when things go totally to shit, it's hard and you can't say you know what that's like. So before we jump on the bandwagon of throwing these parents into the dirt, think about something you've worked through on a similar level...were you able to work through it? Do you still live with it? How do you feel everyday? If you can't think of anything comparable, don't open your mouth.
  20. hey now, I didn't lose the full v til 19-20. but then again I was beaten pretty bad with the ugly stick so that explains it.
  21. This topic is gay... (now while on topic actually, I wanna say that now that I think about it, I'm hearing 'gay' used as the 3rd definition a lot less often than before....anyone else noticed the same? It's like it just died, nobody says it anymore...or maybe I'm just in a different environment now, I don't really know)
  22. and how/why is this newsworthy? Gay person didn't get a tip...black guy called N while watching a movie, joe bobs dog pooped on john smiths car....there are more interesting things in this world.
