Chapter 29 (Pending) is finished, ironically named, but anyway. I’m now on Chapter 30, and it’s taking some wrestling because it’s a hard one to write.

Just putting this out there. I write with character images alongside the chapters. I know most readers prefer not to see how I picture them, which is completely fair, but if you’d like to see anyone, message me directly and tell me who. I promise, no spoilers.

Connor is 20, so five years younger than James. We find that out in Patterns (Chapter 13), during the completely normal family anecdote where James reveals Connor once set their… Well, you’ll have to wait for that one.

Or are you both beyond saving now? 😂 #TeamNextChapter And the barman and James… interesting that you both noticed that. Let’s just hope he wasn’t an Aaron to James. What did you make of that look? James being friendly, flirting, or something else entirely?

Somewhere between pressing the crossing button and the green man appearing, Harry’s mind drifted back to Lewis. Not what had almost happened in the stairwell, but what had come after: Lewis saying he wasn’t confused about wanting him, the words real and useless in equal measure. He walked to Emma’s with his collar turned up, one hand buried deep in his pocket, the other gripping the strap of his bag. The name recycling is the obvious mistake, but I think the bigger problem is that everything feels over-described and under-lived (typical AI). It keeps reaching for dramatic phrases instead of letting the scene breathe. It’s not that any one line is unforgivable, although “sky the color of a bruised plum” is trying very, very hard. It’s that the whole thing has that AI habit of stacking mood on mood until nothing feels natural anymore.

Thank you all for the comments and the passion for the story. I know it’s a slow burn, so it takes a little longer to get there. Like Harry, to be honest. Well, Lewis too... James, come to think of it. Oh well, someone will get with someone. Or they won’t. 😂 Seriously, though, your comments keep me motivated and often send my brain off in new directions. Please keep them coming, and if you’re enjoying the story, a recommendation would genuinely help more readers find it. I’ve got so many ideas for the Harryverse now because of you all.

Emma has survived Harry’s unfortunate taste in men for two decades and still answers the phone. Her wedding hat is probably gathering dust on top of the wardrobe, but she hasn’t given up on him yet.
