"Golden oldies" is the 50's - 70's. Here are the dance songs I remember being hot in the gay clubs in LA & SF when I was in school. Vogue – Madonna, Missing (Todd Terry mix) – Everything But the Girl, Another Night – MC Sar and The Real McCoy, Rhythm is a Dancer – SNAP!, What Is Love? – Haddaway, Mr. Vain – Culture Beat, Be My Lover – La Bouche, Rhythm of the Night – Corona, Strike It Up – Black Box, Everybody Everybody – Black Box, Boom Boom Boom – The Outhere Brothers, We Like To Party – The Venga Boys, Tootsee Roll – 69 Boyz, Sweet Dreams – La Bouche, Around the World – Daft Punk, Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good) – Rozalla, Free (Mood II Swing mix) – Ultra Nate, If You Could Read My Mind – Stars on 54 (Amber, Jocelyn Enriquez, and Ultra Nate), Dreamer – Livin’ Joy, Put Your Loving Arms Around Me – Billie Ray Martin, Beautiful Life – Ace of Base, Tonight is the Night – Le Click, Short Dick Man – 20 Fingers and Gillette, Boot Scootin’ Boogie (original, club mix) – Brooks and Dunn, Move This (Shake That Body) – Technotronic, Lick it – 20 Fingers, Roula, Supermodel (You Better Work!) – RuPaul, If Madonna Calls – Junior Vasquez, Cotton Eyed Joe – Rednex, Believe – Cher, Come And Get Your Love – Mc Sar and The Real Mccoy, Macarena – Los Del Rio, Barbie Girl – Aqua, Unbreak My Heart – Toni Braxton, Killing Me Softly – Roberta Flack, You can find most of these on YouTube these days except for the ultra dirty versions of Short Dick Man, Lick It and a couple others. I had a great bunch of CD singles with all these and more and they were stolen when someone broke in my car about 10 years ago.

Jamie Murray has never won a Grand Slam singles title as Andy is the first Brit to win a Grand Slam since 1066 and the Bryan twins won Wimbledon doubles it in 2011.
-
Actually a Scotsman won Wimbledon in 1969 I believe.

Wasn't Jeanine pretty normal until she and Tiffany started having problems?
-
Not again no matter how much he begged.

I've raised a teen as you know and what Will has done was not "high spirited." High spirited is drinking a little, smoking a few j's, maybe crashing mom's Jag, but it isn't naked pole dances with ejaculation when you are 13, drugging a parent, stealing $20k, destroying two cars and tens of thousands of dollars worth of clothing and the rest. That is all well beyond "high spirited" and is some who needs more supervision and guidance, not less. Can you really picture me at a family restaurant? Save the pop psychology for your time on Dr. Phil.

Hermetically Sealed nailed just about everything I've been trying to point out about Will. Tiffany may be a ball buster of sorts, but JP is supposed to be the head-of-family sage and he would certainly see Will's petulance for what it is. And Will will NOT want an equal partner. He might say he does, he might think he does, but he is a worse control freak than Brad.

So Michael is a full blown paedophile (to spell it the British way), but Jeff and Tony (and several others), who are actually having sex with the minor are not? And the whole family knows? Should JP, Stef & Claire be in jail for allowing that to happen? Sorry, but the only "flaw" in the study you pointed out was the age of it. Point to a more recent study and we can discuss that. I don't have a hypothesis, this isn't science, it is literature. I used textual references to make a point, but people don't want to discuss the textual references, they want to go with what they think in spite of the cited references. I appreciate all that Sharon does for GA and Mark and I doubt she feels attacked, but she tried to be cute to make a point and I made my point back. Not a chance, you know that.

I thought horse racing was the "sport of kings"? I am mostly with Hermetically Sealed on Will's attitude at dinner, only he forgot "manipulative", here are all these really smart people and they can't see through Will's goading of Darius? Yes, I get the story reason for the drama and tension, but it would be nice once in a while to hear JP say, "pull in your horns William, that is enough". As to water polo and Will, it is a good mix and most water polo coaches are not like the football or the wresting coach. They are kick back beach guys. Not only is Jack Bowen (Menlo School wp coach) all that, but he teaches philosophy and is a best selling author too with books on philosophy. Menlo School like H-W, is a very different place with a faculty better than many universities.

So what you are saying then is, your kids did not move out at 14 to live on their own because they were just starting to make decisions about their lives? And you are also saying that they didn't do any of the things that Will has done that made you question whether or not they were ready to live on their own? The point I made was obvious, that I didn't know any 14 year olds mature enough to make decisions sufficient that they could move out of their house (since that is the topic we are talking about, a 14 year old going out on his own) at 14 and be on their own. I have met plenty of 14 year olds who have been forced to make decsions and live on their own, but not one was happy about it and not one wouldn't have rather been in a situation where they didn't have that pressure. So now Michael has gone from a stoolie for Jeannie to a full blown pedophile? You didn't address a single point I raised but veered off on a whole new tangent, which is convenient when you don't want to answer the question. It was three days between the time that Michael gave the pictures to the figure skating panel (Nov. 3) and when Will decided he wanted emancipation (Nov. 6). We still don't know what plans Brad had for Michael because Will had to jump in the middle of it and make demands. So how about addressing the points I made before going off in a new direction.

Sharon made a point about 14 year olds who are ready to move out on their own because they have demonstrated a maturity and enough responsibility to warrant such a move. I pointed out Will's lack of maturity or demonstration of responsibility and good decision making. If Will is suffering from PTSD, the catch-all that excuses everything he has done since then, then why would emancipation be a good thing? What judge would find it in Will's best interest? It isn't "blame" in Will's wanting to stay and then go to Rome, I merely point out that it was HIS decision. I don't this "furher" thing (do we need to invoke Godwin's Law?). If Brad were dictating to Will in the best traditions of the Vaterland he would have made Will leave with them. Have you forgotten that Brad was kidnapped and abused too? Can I use PTSD to explain everything he has done since then? They were scheduled to go home, Rome was an added trip and Brad thought it best to get Robbis out of France. I think he deserves kudos for letting Will make his own decision. Have we also forgotten that less than two months ago Brad moved Will from the "women and children's house" to the "man house" in recognition of Will's growing older? So there are two instances where Brad was trying to recognize Will's progress. But what had Will done in the interim to warrant his father's gestures? He didn't go and calmly discuss why Pat was he demanded, yelled, dictated and made cutting remarks he was certain were going to wound his fathers whose biggest crime seemed to be not paying enough attention to him. It is one thing for a child to question a parent, but Will doesn't question, he turns nasty and mean and says things calculated to hurt when things aren't going his way. My parents were a long ways from being strict and there has been nothing strict about Brad. He has been overly permissive if anything. I will give him his share of the blame for spoiling and indulging Will, for undermining his mother's authority. Brad is more than a fit father, especially in the eyes of the law. Like I said in an earlier post, he might be in the Father of The Year competition this year, but Will is more than adequately cared for. He is indulged beyond belief. Hey, there is the best idea of all. Will can get a real taste of reality. He can live with boys who really have been abused and neglected by their parents, boys who every day have to live with the fear of an incredibly uncertain future.

So how many months after they had drugged your partner was it that they moved out? Was their moving out still in the six month window of the naked pole dance they did in that disco? When you repainted your $200,000 car did you keep it the same color or chose a new one? What about your partners car? The new wardrobe, the one to replace all the clothes they destroyed, same thing, did you go for a new look with all the new clothes or did you just replace the old ones? Did you make them repay you the $20k they stole to go surfing in Hawaii? Did you take away the fake ID's they'd bought before they left? Lastly, when the school called about their alcohol use on a field trip, was that when you thought they had reached the maturity level needed to move out and set up house on their own? Just curious.
-
So they moved out and lived on their own when they were freshmen in high school?

I found this line interesting, “No, I’m responsible to myself. I have to make decisions and suffer the consequences. What I’m saying is that I think I can do that better than you.” When has Will ever suffered the consequences of his actions? For all the crap he has pulled, the way he speaks to his parents at 14, the destruction of property, theft, buying illegal drugs and fake id's, underage drinking, drug use, and rampant sex. Where have there ever been the consequences that people normally suffer? He continues to be an absolute bitch to a lot of those aound him. I just don't see someone ready to handle their own affairs. PS "and no 14 yo is ready for parenthood", but they are ready for everything else about being an adult? I've never met a 14 year old ready to make sound judgments for their lives.

Almost four weeks..... it would be a hot court room moment. Raine burst's in the court and declares in a Scarlet O'Hara voice, "I'm having your baby Will!" And then faints of course.....

What Happens Next In CAP?
PrivateTim replied to methodwriter85's topic in Mark Arbour Fan Club's Topics
We still don't know if Raine is pregnant or not, Will could be a father before his 15th birthday. If will is going to get involved in any issues it will be costal ones, Surfrider Foundation, Heal The Bay, that kind of stuff. Please, you should have heard the howls from the Bay Area when the state banned foie gras. The SF area doesn't have 47 Michelin starred restaurants because the vegan culture is predominant. It is just a popular misconception. The hottest trends in LA include snot to tail restaurants. Pig's ear anyone? -
So you know I think you are one of the more rational people on GA, both here and in the Soapbox. I agree completely with these two paragraphs. My point all along has not been that Brad really deserves to be in the running for the Father of the Year, but rather that Will is not this amazing, wise, worldly 14 year old who is the smartest person in any room he is in, which is the impression I get from so many people who seem to act as if that is the case. When I came home from my water polo banquet my freshman year, drunk as a skunk because we'd gone to beach and had a bonfire party after, my parents didn't say a word. The next morning they sat down with me and told me they understood that kids drink and party and that they knew they couldn't stop me from drinking if it was what I really wanted to do, but they wanted me to think about the consequences that could happen. It could have gotten me kicked out of a very good high school, kicked off the sports teams I was on and loved, and if I got arrested it could affect what college I got into. They reminded me of the people I would be going to for references when I was ready for college and could I really ask them in good conscious to vouch for my character if I had something like that on my record. There was no shouting, no threats and not even a grounding, just a lot of things to think about. I thought it was great parenting and I used a lot of their parenting skills with my own teen son, who was actually much better behaved than I ever hoped to be, but that is due to a lot of factors and few of which had to do with me.

Actually Brad mentioned going home immediately twice and the first time Will said he wanted to stay for JP's lecture and the second time Will decided he was going to go to Rome and he was happy that Brad didn't force him to go back because he didn't really want to deal with John or Robbie then. So should Brad have forced Will to go home? Or would that have been another black mark against Brad for making decisions for Will? The raft trip wasn't just about Will taking the rap for Ryan, it was about him smoking weed, drinking and screwing without a condom on a school trip to begin with. Those are three very bad ideas, especially when you are on a school sponsored trip as all three could get you expelled and the lack of condom..... well we will still see about that, this is after all, "Paternity". Jeanine's attitude toward Will has heavily been influenced by Will's towards her and going around her to get what he wants from Brad. I will place part of the blame on Brad for letting Will do it, but I'll also blame Will for playing that game to begin with. Brad did send Will to a therapist, but Will didn't like him. If I remember Will went through a couple of therapists, so it is not like they didn't do anything. Hiring someone like Martin, who was supposed to give Will more structure and personal discipline rather than a Pat who was just serving as chauffeur/guard wasn't a bad idea, what Martin turned out to be was the problem, but that wasn't foreseeable, it is hindsight. Brad and Robbie were still working on rebuilding their life as partners, so a weekend away for Brad's birthday isn't tantamount to child abuse or abandonment. Will was already out of control prior to his running away, the things he said to Brad and Robbie are not only things I never could have gotten away with saying to my parents, but I wouldn't have even thought to use that kind of language with them. Will was already plotting to drug Martin before he'd ever met him and planning on stealing the money from Brad and Robbie. Will never even considered talking to JP, Stef or Claire before he ran away. If Will was the smart, cool thinking customer everyone makes him out to be after Martin abused him Will should have made a bee-line for Escorial and told JP and Stef what happened. Then you could have argued that Will was smarter than Brad, that Will holds his temper better etc, but if you go back through the chapters leading up to his running away you see someone who was not controlling his temper at all. He was lashing out at Brad and Robbie in the nastiest way he could. Lastly, Brad could not make any promises with respect to Jeanine and her parental rights. It isn't up to Brad to take them away, that would be a function of a court. Will can't demand that Brad do what Brad has no power to do.

Okay.... weird..... none of that response from RJO was there when I started my reply....

Yes, but if the child is caught breaking his grounding and they ship him off to military school, or take away his iPhone, car, and other privileges, etc the child has no recourse. Yes they can continue to defy and rebel, but they can not win long term as long as they are a minor. Yes Brad can be ruthless when it comes to dealing with people who mess with his family, but where was he ruthless to Will? That was your assertion. I'd say that given how Brad has dealt with people who messed with him and his family that the giving to Michael a generous severance could have been a prelude to Michael having an unfortunate accident so as to not attract attention to himself. But Will by blowing up the issue may have made it impossible for Brad to carry out his plans. If that was in Brad's plans, was he supposed to share that with Will? Brad has broken promises to Will, Will has broken promises back. It is not always possible to keep your word when faced with conflicting priorities.
