Adam got a mention last chapter. I wondered what was going on with him. He'd be a senior now and old enough to distance himself from the opinions of his parents and have his own. I like that Dennis seems to be enjoying Travis' company. I assume the Chesleys have put 2 + 2 together. I still don't get Kyle's flip.

Characters in this story must be taking turns being an ass and this week was Kyle's turn. He knows what Travis went through so surely he must have some clue as to how badly that can mess someone up. Dennis had a small epiphany about "being a failure" just to disappoint his parents.

Owen is clueless. Aiden was right that Travis is out of his league, but not in the "he's too good for you sense". Travis is deathly afraid of getting close to people because of Allan. He isn't a player, he just is never going to commit to someone until he gets his head screwed on. Owen does not need a cheap fling. Owen isn't a cheap fling kind of guy. Sex isn't sex to Owen. He is more like a chick in that respect. Owen wants sex as part of a relationship, not sex to get his rocks off and move on.

The why is easy. Travis feels guilty. Guilty about everything even though none of it was his fault.

I think the point is he isn't as confident as he appears. It is a veneer, a facade, Travis pretending it doesn't bother him as much as it does.

Travis moved from annoying to an asshole this chapter. His conversation with Dennis was completely off base on so many levels. If Dennis says he isn't gay, he isn't gay. He seems completely self-aware, not just someone in denial.

Mr. Gordon said he wasn't going to pay Travis until he recouped his losses on the fight. I hope he returns the car before being charged with GTA.

I don't get why everyone thinks Travis is great. I find him obnoxious, but I don't blame him for his obnoxiousness. He is classically acting out. We've only seen the "what if" in his mind about his 10th birthday, but it has to be in his mind all the time, persistent, gnawing. Aiden and Owen are a Hallmark Channel movie in waiting.

Is Dennis unsure of his sexuality, or is it so suppressed by his upbringing that he's only dabbled in the past? I was sure he and Reilly would become an item. So who is in the nursing home? Allen? Bill's wife? Kyle has a good heart, but I don't think Travis will view this favorably. Now that everyone knows Travis' story they should be nudging him into therapy so the nightmares stop.

Surely the Pinkets would know what had happened in the house. In most states you have disclosure laws where you must declare if someone was murdered in the house. Still, they are very nice, and maybe that is why, because they know. Marcy is just a bit younger than Travis was at the time.

One of Dom's best chapters ever. This little town is a boiling pot of intrigue, but then in truth probably every town is.

Dennis and Leo had a thing. I am just waiting for Travis' cork to pop in front of Chris or Owen and wind up in a hospital.

Wow Aiden is really bad at communicating and Owen isn't any better. What is wrong with being truthful, 'hey I miss you'. I want Dennis to kick Lyle's ass.

Travis is punishing himself. He is self loathing. He blames himself for Allen going to the kitchen to get ice. Travis blames all the events of that night on himself and he's never dealt with the issues. And as much as I feel deep sympathy for Travis he still bugs the fuck out of me. Aiden and Owen are having an O Henry moment. If they would just talk to each other they'd figure out a way to be friends. I've never had an ex I didn't stay friends with.

Guy Fellowes seems too obvious. The least obvious is Trevor Buck. I don't Curtis Buck had enough money left to mess with Travis. Evil Lawyers, which is redundant by the way, why? To what purpose? Travis is annoying as hell. We made some progress on what is up with Aiden and Owen, but not Ryan and Lacy. Nicky is the character I am really liking this story, but then I liked him the last one too.

So we don't know why Aiden and Owen split, why Ryan and Lacy are hostile to each other, we don't really know where Tony is, all of the friends are miserable... Great job Dom!

I want Dennis to stop beating himself up for who he used to be. There may be a part of him that thinks he deserves the self flagellation.

I've never seen "real" volleyball players play 3 on 3, barneys for sure. 2 on 2 is the norm, 4 on 4 only happens when there are too many good players and too few courts, but too few courts isn't an issue in MB. I've also never seen the CBVA sponsor a 3 on 3 tournament. https://cbva.com

I find Travis annoying beyond belief and in need of serious professional help. Dennis is suffering from his own version of PTSD.

Will is such a douche. What thinks he has the right to tell his father what to do and not do. It would be fine if he didn't demand no one tell him what to do. And "3 on 3" volleyball in MANHATTAN BEACH? You've been away from California way too long. Interested to see all the fall out from Travis and Taylor's predicament. Lots to untangle there. Thanks for a nice early post too. I was in the middle of rereading In The Fishbowl so I saw the notification right away.

I don't remember this story as well as I do others I've already read, but is real life, Travis would be heading for a serious crash. The human body can only stand so much. I want to know if Reilly and Aiden have played Hide the Pickle.

No Travis has PTSD. There is a fatalism about him.
