Ohh, I'd forgotten about that. I get a little stressed out (not so much afraid as just anxious/tense) in very chaotic situations. We covered it once in one of my psychology classes I seem to be someone who has a high degree of natural stimulation going on, so too much more just overloads me. As a result I'd actually be calmer and more relaxed if a large crowd of people were sitting semi-quietly with their attention focused on me versus them just all talking loudly to each other and wondering around in a million different directions. Similarly, I can't stand to have music/noise playing in the background if I'm reading, writing, or talking. People used to get irritated with me because I'd insist on turning off the radio or muting the TV if we were going to have a conversation, but personally I can't see how people can focus with these things blaring away! I think it has something to do with me getting distracted easily and having difficulty focusing. Thus the more stimulus there is, the harder it is for me to focus on any one thing, and the more frustrated I get. I'm much better about stuff like this now than I used to be though. I can usually just block it out and be fine unless I'm trying to do something important or something that requires a lot of attention. So I'm afraid of noisy, chaotic situations. (parties were never a problem because I tend to be drinking at those )

Dude! I LOVE octopus and squid! It's so tasty! I stated off eating pickled squid in this Greek restaurant I used to frequent when I was a kid. Then as I got older I started eating both as nigeri sushi at sushi bars. I also enjoy lightly fried calamari as an appetizer at some restaurants (which is quite amazing actually because apart from french fries and said lightly fried calamari I don't like fried foods). Anyway, definitely not afraid of them, and love eating them! Eughh, I'm outta things to be afraid of. Umm, how about snakes? They kinda freak me out.

Thanks, Liddy Thanks, Kash Ohh, that's because Vic's my older brother LOL, just kidding. Actually the pirate avatars date back about two years ago. A very awesome, cool member named Ben (username: BoyNeedsTherapy) made them for a bunch of us. Actually he was a "Domaholic" too (and the creator of the "Game" thread in The Lounge). There used to be about 15-20 members with them, but over the months many of those members have either stopped visiting GA or else changed their avatars. I think Vic, Vancey, and Kurt all still use theirs though. Actually I think I see what you mean! It's important to be able to visualize him as a real person, and if that person is gay then there's no reason to feel possessive or jealous. Makes sense to me! I definitely, and firmly agree with you on this one! I can't stand gender roles Well it's wonderful having you ladies here and I know I for one am definitely very pleased that you came! Take care and have a fantastic day all, Kevin -

Of course they do! In fact I'd be willing to bet that readers learn all sorts of important life lessons and gain a ton of valuable perspective from reading his stories! I know I did/do! BTW, do you really mean TLW? Or did you mean TOU? I can't recall any s'mores in TLW, but there was that famous marshmallow scene in TOU! Take care and have a fantastic day! Kevin -
[LittleBuddhaTW] "When I see you again"
AFriendlyFace replied to AFriendlyFace's topic in Promoted Author Discussion Forum
Aww I just got this nice image of one of your characters being all sad and down and feeling as if there were no purpose in his life and another character putting his arms around him and saying, "Don't worry Little Buddha created you for a reason!" It's like you're their God I don't think he was jealous about this kiss, but I think if things progress he'll get jealous. What do ya'll think? Is Little Buddha a benevolent deity with a master plan, or is he out to wreck havoc on the world of his creations? -Kevin -
THANKS!

*sigh* yet another reason to avoid riding in cabs and public transit.
-
Sounds like you don't like them then Oh my gosh! I love heights! I'm (mildly) afraid of knives and other blades/sharp objects.
-
LOL, well that certainly sounds easier, but I'm reminded of the old adage: "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day, Teach a man to fish, feed him for life" ...besides I like learnin' new stuff

Thanks Beasty! Ohh, we used to do the random question thing at my group too! I think it's a great idea! Lota fun I read a statistic or something somewhere that said that on average women were more like to join such groups, but men need them more. In my experience with the on campus GLBT organization it was primarily led by females, but attended by slightly more males. It sounds like everything went pretty well! I hope you continue to go and enjoy yourself and make new friends! Does that mean that you knew - or recognized - some of them prior to attending the meeting? Nifty! Yeah I guess I can see where you're coming from though, but I think even if things did end up going badly and you end up on poor terms with them you could get by with a casual nod as you walk by and leave it at that. Still, I definitely see what you mean though and I wish you the best of luck -Kevin

Wow! That is so cool! OHH you're right! Every now and then I get to work from home too (not as often as I'd like though ), it definitely makes things so much easier and saves a great deal of time, frustration, and money (gas is so high )!

Geez, I didn't realize it was that small! You can barely drive across Houston in two hours (actually you don't stand much of a chance of pulling that off at all unless it's the middle of the night  ) -Kevin

Hey Mike Awww, well YOU mean alot LOL! I did that for over an hour and a half today myself! Oh my gosh! What a bitch! WOW! This is so scary! I'm so glad you're okay though! Well I'm glad the dinner went well! Oh man! That sucks I'm so sorry, dude Try to remember though that she was probably pretty upset herself that evening. It's no excuse, but it may be the reason. Ohh I feel so bad for you. I hope the rest of your week is MUCH MUCH better, and I hope everything works out okay with Rayna Good luck and take care Kevin P.S. I love that song! Thanks so much for telling me about it

Dude! That's so not what I was saying! Oh my gosh, you've GOT to lighten that load! You're gonna frickin' die! Seven uncommitted hours in a day IS NOT enough, and they're also at the wrong time of the day! Eughh, I'll stop bitching and mind my own business, but wow, please take some more time for yourself! Wait a minute, do you mean to tell me that you were seeing "the son of a preacherman"? Sorry, just couldn't resist the bad joke. Actually I think boys from religious backgrounds are HOTT! Ohh, Joe, I'm so sorry for you guys I hope you have/had ALOT of fun, and I hope you can work out some kinda way to stay in touch. don't get me started on caffeine. Especially as a substitute for sleep! GRRr Sorry, if I seem like I'm being nosy and overbearing, but please try to get some sleep and get off the caffeine. **grabs the Red Bull away and hands Joe a pillow instead** Good luck with everything, and take care Kevin

Against Me - Thrash Unreal If she wants to dance and drink all night then theres no one that can stop her. Shes going until the house lights come up or her stomach spills onto the floor. This night is going to end when were damn well ready for it to be over. Worked all week long now the music is playing on our time. We do what we do to get by, and then we need a release. You get mixed up with the wrong guys. You get messed up on the wrong drugs. Sometimes the party takes you places that you didnt really plan on going. When people see the track marks on her arms she knows what theyre thinking. She keeps on working for that minimum, as if a high school education offered any other options. They dont know nothing about redemption. They dont know nothing about recovery. Some people just ain't the type for marriage and family. No mother ever dreams that her daughters going to grow up to be a junkie. No mother ever dreams that her daughters going to grow up to sleep alone. Shes out of step with the style. She dont know where the actions happening. You know the downtown club scene ain't nothing like it used to be. You reach a point where theres not a lie in the world that you could use to make the boys believe your still in you twenties. Shes not waiting for them to come over and ask for the privilege. She can still here that Rebel Yell just as loud as it was in 1983. There ain't no Johnny coming home to share a bed with her and she doesnt care. No mother ever dreams that her daughters going to grow up to be a junkie. No mother ever dreams that her daughters going to grow up to sleep alone. If she had to live it all over again you know she wouldnt change anything for the world.

Great poem! I really enjoyed the progression from the innocent boy thinking perhaps he could change the femme fatale - that perhaps he was the predator - to realizing that he was just another victim all along. Excellent job! It definitely does seem to represent a common cycle, in all relationships[/i]. Just one question/comment: The back of a cab!?! -Kevin

Wow! This is really powerful, Ieshwar! I love all the imagery. It has a very strong effect and I feel so very sorry for The Glass Boy. He seems so sweet and yet is so hurt Awesome job with this poem. It's very beautiful! Kevin

Well, I'm not afraid of spoons! I'm a bit nervous around spiders, but not too bad. In fact I was hanging out with a couple of friends one evening and they elected me to kill the two spiders which randomly showed up because I was the least afraid LOL, are they just as bad or about 17 times as bad? I'm afraid of getting older -Kevin
