Yup, back before the internet a higher education from self studies was hard to cum about. I might have an old VHS of those same studies myself. Such art is hard to trash when so much was gleamed from those studies. 😇

I had thought the same though at the time I didn’t comment, but then as you point out they mention avoiding the cab company being a possible compromise in locating the guys. Taking the cab around the city blocks then back to get Sara’s car would have at least given them an escape but then no location leak.

Adam seems a little possessive but agreeing to give the neighbor boys a ride to school earlier shows his compassion or at least some effort to meet Rick part way. Nevertheless, I think Adam will have to do some adjusting to fall within Rick’s calling of heart.

It could be awkward for some but this relationship Rick has with the parents tells me they would accept Adam coming with Rick and the boys on the placement trip. Rick promised to tell Adam all about Martin. What better way than having his parents embarrassing him with tales of childhood.

I enjoyed the reflection of my own acceptance of being more gay than bi, and the slower acceptance affects on my life decisions; especially with my college roommate and lover of my senior year. So my perspective is rather biased as it is somewhat biographically commiserating my love life; not sex life, my love life.

I thinking maybe street cops on the Jarvis payroll or being blackmailed into providing cover; so threatening Shane with his own problems and a reminder that Jarvis will know you’re talking is quite intimidating for a kid thinking this is honest cops. Even at my age now I still think it’s a near life long friend passing by when I’m out working in the yard and a curious neighbor slows in passing. I also want to call and update him on my parallel project that obviously he can no longer continue at his place. He was unfortunately working on his project and had a tragic accident. A friendship of many decades is now just an echo of my friend. I can’t even ride my motorcycle without thinking of him as we learned and played on our first bikes back in our early teens. Just a few days ago I almost bypassed my own exit to swing by and visit him…not at the cemetery, but at his house back around in his shop. The mind is a tricky thing, yet it also allows me to remember all those good years and memories; for that I’m eternally grateful.

@Krista, thank you for expanding this great story and for all the extra work involved in doing so. I’m loving the story and feel it has much more depth to explore. The character development pace and depth are filled with suspenseful anticipation; both within the story and for us as the readers. The balance of character significance and contribution to the story content is what I love about your writing. Even when a character is absent, we can feel they will again nudge the story or give it levity sometime soon. Ahem, is Cody asking, “are we there yet?” Thank you again for sharing your stories and the interactions you share with us so frequently.
