  1. I think Dom does that extremely well. There are only 3 sex scenes as I recall between Seth and Rory, and there's not a lot of detail in them. They advance the story and the dynamics of the relationship. They suggest enough to satisfy much of the readers' curiosity about who does what to whom. The last one suggests further directions where things will head physically. The most erotic scene in the story, though, is the one where their hands barely touch. If Dom wanted to try his hand at feeding our voyeuristic interests, he could do a prequel to DD that goes into great detail with Luke and Aaron and then with Aaron and Seth. Maybe he could get Luke to describe how he sees Dave and perhaps go into some fantasies. But that's not a dare. I anyone has doubts or questions about Dom's ability to write hot sex scenes, I refer them to the last chapter of TOU.

  4. There's something the title has reminded me of all along, and now involving the floor seems appropriate: There was a Saturday Night Live bit where a product was advertised, "It's a floor wax! It's a dessert topping!"

    DD

That amazes me. It wouldn't occur to me to bother you with personal email. I don't reply to the blogs that much, even. If I have something to say about the stories, I post that in the story forum. We Domaholics need to commiserate with one another. I wouldn't want to influence your stories or want other readers to, except perhaps that if any of our suggestions and criticisms have any validity, they can be taken to heart in your future writings. We can lobby for sequels and such, and that's OK, too. And then you can use your own judgment and your own muse to decide. We fans can request things, but mostly we just want more chapters until something is done, and then we want more stories. Badgering you with email seems really counterproductive to that. I knew I didn't need to threaten you after Chapter 35. If you had killed off Eddie, Luke and his wrestling buddies would have come after you. I figured you realized that. It's just if you did it, I didn't want to read it, and asked for folks in the forum to warn me not to read Chapter 36. You should be flattered to know that your writing makes us care so much for your characters, even ones that annoy us, like Quinn and Rory. It is regrettable that it makes us all a little nuts, and apparently some of us a lot nuts.

    Lost

In other words: "You're gonna make it after all!"
  7. I think of whatever I am as conservative, so I think a lot of "conservatives" aren't really. I'm old enough to have been a Republican before the pary was invaded by the racists and bigots. It wasn't the party of Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt very much any more, but it went downhill fast after the departing Democrats showed up. I'm glad Lee Atwater repented on his deathbed. Whatever I am, I know I'm not a Democrat, though I find I have to vote for some a lot of times. I'll add this: Myr's signature "I want to keep the liberals out of my wallet and the conservatives out of my bedroom," probably sums up where a lot of us are, wherever we may be on the political spectrum.
  8. It seems like there was also some sort of legal complication relating to people who have some connection to a political campaign. I don't miss the Soapbox. My politics are mostly moderately conservative with a broad libertarian streak that tends to be so far to the right it becomes left. I find "left-wing kooks" really annoying and "right-wing nut cases" even more so.
  9. DD annoying? Well I found it so as a reader when it first started, though not as annoying as I found TOU. Maybe that is part of the author's method, to start an annoying story with annoying lead characters and separate out the true Domaholics who stick with it. Or maybe not. I think if I started reading TOU again, I might still find Quinn hard to take. Somehow I don't think that is true of Rory, even if I went back to square one. My current strategy for dealing with my Domaholism is to hold off starting WT. I almost gave in yesterday, but read the mistletoe story instead. That should hold me for a few days. I'm hoping that DD35 will come out before I leave town. I've decided not to take a computer with me, and another chapter would help make that easier to do.
  10. Between the fights and the gossiping, I wonder how you guys find any spare time to do some work.

    DD Rant

And they are too dumb to realize how coutereffective that is if you want to hurry up creative output. I'm going to hold off a while on the new story, I think. I did read early parts of TLW, TOU, and DD together, so I might change my mind if some chapters of DD start getting really far apart. But right now, I've been busy reading things I needed to read for work and to help other people out and have other things to catch up on, so that DD is the only story that will take priority over everything else in life, reading or otherwise.
  14. That was a nice touch. Sounds like it was at least partially effective.
  15. They used to try having famous people who had had success in dealing with their drug addictions give talks to kids to discourage them from trying drugs. Rather than taking them as cautionary tales, the kids often would conclude "That person did drugs and is doing OK, so I can, too."
  16. That always seems to happen, but his statement would still be true by definition even if it hadn't happened in his case. The (name)-ist label does not apply to (name), by convention, and by the logic that one is not a follower of one's self. Marx wasn't a Marxist; Luther was not a Lutheran (unless you can mean it in the sense that he was a member of that denomination, if that made any sense at the time). Similarly, Jesus was not a Christian.
  17. An old "Galloping Gourmet" joke was similar. He began a recipe with "First you take a leek . . ."
  18. It's not like there's a wrong answer to a question that begins "What color do you think of . . . ?" "I think of green, because I went to an Indian restaurant with a friend last week, and she had on a stunning green dress," would be a sensible answer, though it has nothing to do with the color of saffron itself. When I listen to an oldies stations, songs will sometimes remind me of the people I associated with when they were popular. The contents of the song have nothing to do with anything about the people.

    Suicide

Any "faith" that you have that condones suicide is a pretty crappy excuse for a faith. Our lives are not our own. And if that "faith" makes the other people in your life abusive and full of hate, then it is satanic, no matter whom they are pretending to worship. My scriptures tell me that anybody who claims to love God and hates his brother is a liar and the truth is not in him, and how can you love God whom you can't see and hate your neighbor whom you can see? Somehow I can't find the place in the New Testament where Jesus told us to be self-righteous and to hate one another, and I've looked quite thoroughly. Sorry about the religious rant, but it is late at night and my inhibitions are down, and it really angers me that people try to blame God for their own failings of character. And anyway, you don't want to miss finding out whom Rory will wind up with. And then there's the sequel about Dennis.
  20. Suggestive thoughts can be fun, too.
  21. Waiting and uncertainty are rough. Knowing what you have to deal with, you can at least start dealing with it. Any time people start messing with your eyes, that's potentially serious, as the ophthalmologist told me before my first laser surgery, so of course you are concerned. There are quite a few treatment options with various sorts of glaucoma, so I would be surprised if nothing can be done to lower your pressure. If you've had some damage, that most likely can't be reversed, but things can be done to prevent further loss of vision. You're in my prayers, as are your eye doctor and staff.

    there it is

It's no stranger than Harrison Ford, and seems to work better than longer Presidents' names with "Harrison." (Well, OK, Harrison Carter doesn't sound too bad. But Harrison Bush somehow sounds dirty.)

    your mom's face!

Three years from now when you are the arrogant captain dude, be sure that the poor freshman you pick on is gay, and give him the URL for this site. Maybe he'll start a blog so we can read his laments about your highhanded and heavyhanded behavior. And he'll say things like, "The boy is so cute that it is all I can do to hate him. And he sure knows his science."
