I may be on the mend. I had two normal bp and heart rate readings this morning. The first early here at home the second roughly 4hrs later at the urologist. I'm speculating but because Tepezza works on muscle I think that I had a full body version of the mechanism of my migraines. Vasoconstriction. The first symptom a massive migraine, 8 on scale of 10, makes sense because those vessels are already highly susceptible to vasoconstriction. By constricting it narrowed vessels required the heart to pump harder and faster to maintain blood flow. It also explains why the phlebotomist had so much my trouble finding and sticking a vein. I'm not entirely in the clear. As my body tries to right itself there's still the lactic acid buildup from the muscle cramps to clear. The urologist told me there were large leukocytes in my urine samples but I don't display any syptom of infection so I think it's my body trying to fix whatever the hell went wrong. Poor confused body. I am exhausted and have a migraine knocking. So blessed be y'all.

Mum has often said that if a child doesn't get enough attention doing good they'll revert to doing ill because to them any attention is better than none. She if you can find her rating with the medical association she belongs to. What is her success rate for the surgery, do not expect 100% because while it's hard to believe there are patients who do not follow instructions. Ask you doc why he referred you to her. Do due diligence and if you're convinced you would be better with some else fine.

I managed half the day before I became too tired to continue. I did a couple of kiltings but the tale will need to wait until I am better rested. That and my fingers decided to join the fun and begin cramping again the morning. It's been nearly 2 months since that was a regular event.

Gary, I must apologize I have been slack in following and commenting on Bearpaw. I like the story very much. I simply lack the energy. Now I need to take my evening nap, the fourth today, so I wake up in time to go to bed for night. Yeah, I'm exhausted. I'm hoping to get to faire tomorrow at least for a few hours. They're gonna ask what I'm doing there. The only explanation I have is that I could stay home and be miserable all alone or I could be miserable while spending some time with friends who love and care for me and who will make sure I'm okay. Oh, my dear friend. I am no where near well. All the issues remain. The only consolation is that the doctor sent word this afternoon that any possible benefits do not justify the potential for an even more severe reaction. He is stopping further infusions at this time. That is a weight off my shoulders. Now I just need this damnable potion to begone from my body. I have spent almost the entirety of the afternoon in bed. I can't even summon enough energy to read. I have no appetite. For brekkie I forced myself to eat a fresh croissant from a local Italian bakery. I know Clo. Imagine Italians making croissant but they are very good. Apparently my sense of taste is off. While it was light and tender as usual it tasted Iike nothing. I had no interestin eating this evening but made myself eat a stuffed roast chicken breast. It is a favorite but I had to force myself to choke it down. So as I say, I am no where near well but I will again soon.

I have spoken with Mum, Sadie, my patient liaison at Horizon and the nurse at the endocrinologist. Mum and Sadie said at the very least I could cancel the next infusion until we have a better handle on things. The nurse at the doctor's said he had not made a final decision. He was going to talk with my nephrologist but she thought he was seriously leaning toward stopping. I told I had decided I wanted to discontinue because I have a history of responding weirdly to medications. Sometimes the opposite of what is expected. She was going to give him an additional note with my decision. I think she thought it the right move but couldn't come right out and say so. Now I just need his final concurrence. Oh , and another nap. I'm exhausted.

I actually made physical visit to both the endocrinologist and the nephrologist. Both visits went well. The nurse that oversees Tepezza patients took time for a real medical evaluation complete with a lis of questions from the doc. He was out of the office. She told me it be prepared for to discontinue the treatment based on the risks. I actually hope he does. I am frightened that the next treatment could put me in the hospital. Waiting to hear.

Thanks y'all for your support and encouragement. I am a bit spoiled. Mum is a retired nurse and had things gone as she wished she would have become a PA. Sadly, my dad nixed that. Because of Mum, she was well known and respected in the local medical community, I grew up under the care of excellent doctors and have been fortunate to have for the most continued that trend. I respect the training and education but doctors do not intimidate me, I will get the answers I need. Blessed be y'all.

So it's been an interesting day. I couldn't get in contact with endocrinologist overseeing my infusion. Their phone system either just looped or rang and rang without anyone answering. Even my patient liaison could get them. She eventually sent two emails. They called me back just before leaving for the day. I missed the call so need to call them back tomorrow. I did get in touch with the nephrologist and left a message to have a nurse call me back she did. When I explained that I was being treated with Tepezza infusion and was having issues with numerous side effects and I call them because my bp had spiked dramatically. She didn't know what Tepezza was, could I spell it so she could look it up. I did. I explained it took a couple of days until I understood what was happening because the first thing was a serious migraine. "Oh you get migraines". "Yes, I have intractable migraine and have migraine most days". "Well, your migraine could be the problem. You need to call your doctor for treatment. How do you treat them?" "Well, because they're intactable and occur so frequently I rely on resting and compresses. I only medicate the most severe by taking an Aleve." "Oh! You can't do that. Aleve will raise your bp." Well my specialist at Thomas Jefferson and Dr Sommerman both have approved that course of action as the lesser of two evils. Since the doctors are in agreement and you're a nurse who really knows nothing about the my circumstances I will continue to follow their instructions. Since I only just became aware in the last day or two that my symptoms were related to the Tepezza and I didn't have functioning bp cuff I bought a new one yesterday." "Okay, tell me readings." I did, the three I had at that point. "You only have three. Well that's not enough." "As I explained earlier my bp readings to this point have been acceptable. I needed to buy a cuff because I didn't have one. I only been able to tak three readings. Two last evening and one this morning." "Well, I really think you need to consider further treatment for your migraine." "I have been dealing with migraine for more than 45 years. That is not my current issue. All my symptoms are related to the infusions." "Okay, I'll pass these notes on to the doctor's nurse and see if he has any instructions." "Thank you." Since she knows nothing about Tepezza and only enough about migraine to be dangerous she focused only on what she thought she knew and ignored what I told her. Interestingly, I had fasting blood drawn this morning for the nephrologist. Guess what the only really bad result was? My glucose and triglycerides are high. One of the most common side effects of Tepezza is increased blood sugar. They specifically diabetics to pay close attention to their blood sugar. Of the 13 most common side effects I have defintely experienced 6 and possibly 2 others. Since my hair is already slowly fading away it's difficult to tell if it disappearing faster. And I noticed that I don't hear some voices as well as before so there might be some hearing loss but that should be temporary. Of the 6 most serious I am dealing with 4. Those are the ones that got my attention this week. The nephrologist's nurse also called back because he has some instructions for me. Sadly, I didn't get that message until they'd left for the day. Another call for the morning. My guess is he saw the glucose and wants to do something to correct it. Boy is he gonna be surprised when I say NO. I'm going to tell them that he needs to research Tepezza and it's potential side effects so that when I see him on October 3rd we can talk. I will do additional testing but more than that nothing until at least 60 days after the last infusion. Oh, Tepezza works on the muscles behind the eye. That's how it corrects the TED. Unfortunately, it's indiscriminate and messes with any other muscle it can. Hence my issues.

No, unfortunately this are some of the more common side effects. I just hadn't dealt with such extremes. Typically, a couple of days and I was back to normal, if I was ever "normal". Last evening my bp was 163/114, 2 hours after taking my evening meds. This morning it was down to 148/100. Better but still fifteen points over my usual readings. I'll continue monitoring it. I have an appt with my nephrologist in 2.5 weeks but will be at the medical campus early Monday am to see my urologist. If things stay like this I might just stop by and put a bug in the doc's ear. I haven another infusion in 2 weeks. I like to have a better handle on things before then.

I've been coping with more side effects from my infusions. I think because initially I'd only had the two loading doses before the fiasco that delayed the following maintenance doses. I didn't have serious issues. Now that I've since had four infusions since July 5th I am dealing with progressively worsening issues. My BP is elevated aggravating my migraines, my sleep patterns are disturbed, I've got tendinitis in my right shoulder and elbow; I'm right handed so hard to avoid using that arm. The tendons in my hamstrings are extremely tight and cramp at the least provocation. In the last day my hips have started making walking painful. My fingers and toes cramp randomly, great fun trying to rub the cramps to loosen them as that just causes the noncramping hand to cramp. The connections between my ribs and sternum hurt as well as along my lower spine. Coughing and sneezing are such a joy except I'm not really into S&M. The only good news is I only have two more infusions so by this time in October I'm done. I hope I survive. Blessed be y'all.

My dad just had the catracts in his eyes removed earlier this summer. The right eye while I was here in June. The left a couple weeks later in July. He had no issues and is very glad he had it done. Dad was just two months shy of his 89th birthday when they did the first eye. The ophthalmologist used lenses to correct his distance vision so now he only needs readers. He is thrilled. Mum and my stepdad had the surgery done several years ago. Of everyone I know that had the surgery only one had issues. He didn't follow instructions so his recovery took longer. He's the same guy who wouldn't listen to the surgeon or PT after corrective surgery for nerve damage in his neck. His recovery was delayed and not as full as it might have been. Do what you are told and you will be fine.
