I would so like to see Rick look at his father and say "I'm just an employee and I can quit." That might set the old man back on his heels.

Back home in PA alot of hay is cut by horse drawn mowers so the farmers can get into a wet field without doing the damage a tractor might. Still need the dry days to bale. They usually cut one day, rake the next and bale on the third. Of course they need to allow for Sunday as nothing gets done in the fields then. It's not unusal to see hay cut Friday or Saturday and allowed to lay on Sunday before raking or baling on Monday. I've seen them rake Monday am and bale in the afternoon.

I'm hearing a few rumbles in the distance. The forecast is suggesting we're going to get a good soaking rain in the next 36-48 hrs. We need it things are getting dry again.

It's currently 84/29° with 84% humidity, it feels like 97/36°. As a certain handsome young man in MI might say ... it's too hot to do anything out of doors.

Okay, makes sense. My tired brain was thinking the ban was in effect so operating the sprinkler seemed verboten. Obviously that is not the case and you're acting preemptively for if/when it does.

Not sure I understand why you would use a sprinkler if there is a ban on using the hose. My sprinkler attaches to the end of my hose. Do you mean a watering can?

That could put mum's house in the drink. Her house is roughly 14 feet above sea level and only 5mi/8km from the ocean.

Thank goodness for safety harnesses, though truth be told it looks like mouth-to-mouth. I think I saw this photo elsewhere and the dangling young man was actually injured and hanging unconcious

I'm making shrimp quesadillas with salad. I baked a fresh peach and blueberry buckle, not diabetic friendly, which will likely serve as dessert.
