My paternal grandmother had a small green gooseberry bush. Can't recall her ever doing anything with the fruit. Of course the bush was so small I don't think she ever got more than a handful in any season.

I heard the other day that a large portion of the Northwest blueberry crop has cooked on the bushes due to the heat. A total loss. That crop accounts for 80% of the total US supply. Blueberries could become more scarce and expensive.

Those ones you don't know what they are ... they're simply known as "pretty". They're rather common. I'm sure you've encountered them before. Just think back ever hear someone say those are pretty flowers?

While many recipes call for added pectin it really isn't necessary as pectin comes is from the fruit. In my family we use equal amounts of fruit and sugar and cook that until it thickens. Glad to hear yours tastes good.

Maybe, but yours are mostly barn cats not house cats. That makes a big difference

Gelatin does not set well with pineapple. Jam and jelly are a different case since those rely on pectin to thicken. I'm fond of pineapple jam.

On rainy days I recommend you carry a bar of soap. You can get a shower in without adding to your home water usage.

My head aches horribly and I'm freezing ... the house is not cold, 75/24° but my nose, fingers and toes are ice cold. I'm wearing a sweater and am covered with a blanket. We had another t-storm with heavy rain pass through in the last hour. The changeable weather is not my friend.

The president of the local telephone had his eardrum ruptured when lightening struck the phone line while he was on the phone. I remember as a kid if bathtime came and there was rumbling off in the distance we were made to get your butts in, washed and out again pdq. If there was lightening we had to wait until the storm passed to bathe. The fear was lightening could strike and travel through the metal pipes into the bath.

A second tornado warning was posted about 10 minutes ago at 7:55am. Based on radar it seems the threat has passed us by and the rain is visibly greatly diminished though it's still blustery. Sky is brightening.
