Amateur mistake with the door, but we all slip up from time to time. It’ll be interesting how the power shifts from Don to Hutch as our guys prepare to be seniors and take over, and what that means for Corbin not having a doormat like Dom in charge. I did love Corbin telling them that their egos are only bruised because he plays the game better than they do 🙂 more to come!

What gives you that impression? Haha. I really enjoyed writing the next scene between Corbin and Lee. We’ll see how it all plays out

Just wanted to give a head's up that the next chapter is out and available. I cut a supersized chapter down, and I should hopefully have Tear Night pt 2 out soon-ish. Hope you all enjoy and looking forward to hearing your reactions!

Tear Night was one of the cornerstone traditions on the Old Dominion campus. It marked the official end of Rush and the beginning of the eight-week long period of Pledgeship. It was the night that transferred the power away from the freshmen and back into the hands of the upperclassmen brotherhood. Every Greek on campus participated, regardless of how jaded or over the scene they were. Seniors schlepped out of their off-campus houses to meet the new members of their organizations. Even the most

I wanted to drop an update here in the discussion. I’m wrapping up the next chapter and hopefully sending off for editing and beta-reading in the next few days. I’ve found in picking this up after so many years how challenging the process Of finding one’s voice again is. When I was writing almost daily, these characters, their mannerisms and speech cadences came naturally to me. I could rail through prose and conversation without thinking. that hasn’t been the case recently. I’ve found myself having to reread and rewrite large sections of my work. At times getting ‘into it’ has be laborious. I know that the ease and confidence in writing will come back (and hopefully I’ll be able to compartmentalize writing this story and writing corporate work projects), but I just say it’s taken me longer than I anticipated to find that groove again. I appreciate everyone’s patience and support. I don’t anticipate going this long between chapters in the future, but then again who knows what the future brings. Thanks again and I look forward to getting the next chapter out soon :-)

So glad you started following the story, and I’ve enjoyed reading all of you reactions. Very strong feelings about Corbin I see! Writing him has always been an interesting mix of personality traits and qualities for me, not all positive but I hope multi-dimensional and layered. Look forward to seeing what you think as the story unfolds

He looks like a young Dan Stevens. I'm on board!

I love the hashtags! Amanda is still around and will resurface soon I’m sure. She had a couple very important parts to play later on in the story.

Great pick, and great pic. I’ll deduct but one point for that ridiculous question in the insta caption, but we can’t all be perfect. A very cadet mike thing to ask, if I’m honest.

I definitely won't keep you waiting for AS long this time around. Thanks so much for the comment! Lot's more story to tell.

Thank you for the compliment and the positive comments. Believe, I might have shed a tear or two putting that sequence together. More on the aftermath of that speech in the next chapter!

After all this time, still anti-Pete? Corbin got what he needed to off his chest. I guess we’ll see if/how Pete chooses to react. Thanks for the comment!

Thanks so much for the comment! You’re absolutely right, Corbin’s friends are well intentioned, but that doesn’t always mean they do the right thing. But on the other hand, if you are a friend and you see someone you love hurting and you KNOW why, what do you do? Expect some ‘discussion’ in the future on that piece. Thanks again!

I understand how you feel, and I apologize that you felt abandoned by me on this site. I did return a few times in the last couple of years to express my plans to pick the story up as soon as I could- I was careful not to give timelines or definitive promises that I wasn't sure I could keep. I also put the story on a temporary hold. As I said, there are times that life gets in the way of our hobbies, no matter how intent we are on keeping up with those things. In this case, that also included my inability to return and give more detailed explanations as to why I was gone. I disagree with you that anyone is owed explanations or updates. In life, we all choose what portions of our personal lives to share and not to share and my desire to share this specific portion of my past isn't an automatic gateway into my current or more recent situations. As you mentioned, readers do have a personal investment in the story- that isn't lost on me and I've always been very appreciative of the support. As I still am. My involvement with this story goes beyond personal, as I lived these things and relive them every time I begin writing again. The events of the last few years may warrant their own story in the future, but for now I choose not to share those and hope my explanation and decision to come back and dive back into this story is sufficient. As stated, I understand the hesitation to jump back into a story that isn't finished yet, but such is the nature of this medium of writing and publishing.

I definitely want to take the time to respond to this comment as thoroughly as possible, as I’m sure you’re not the first or last person to feel this way about my story or any ongoing story. Here’s the reality. Writing and posting here don’t pay my bills. When I took a hiatus from writing, it was because life got in the way and certain needs had to be met. If this were my full time undertaking, things would be different. I love writing and I love getting to share this story, and believe me stepping away for an extended period was probably tougher on me than it was on you as a reader. Keeping up with a story takes a great deal of time even in the best circumstances. Hours spent writing, then editing, and the waiting and interacting. It’s not always a simple procedure. I understand that reading and following along with a story is time consuming as well, and I don’t take anyone who’s spent the time reading my work for granted. I’ll end with this. Following an ongoing story has its risks and its rewards. Sometimes authors need breaks- novels take years and years to complete and some authors put works down for many years before going back to them. With an ongoing story, you don’t get that luxury without disappointing people. On the other hand, readers have access to the writers as the story is taking shape. Your comments and suggestions make their way into the narrative. Even though this is largely autobiographical (I won’t even touch on the emotional toll if telling this story because that was my decision to share), the way it’s told is shaped by interaction with everyone on this site. In short, if you’d like to wait until the story is ‘complete’, I don’t blame you. If you want to continue to follow along, I appreciate you. I can’t promise a long hiatus won’t happen again, but it is my intention to finish this story at some point in the future. Thanks for the comments!

Numb. The only way to describe how I felt that morning was numb. I couldn’t feel my fingers or my toes. I couldn’t feel anything. And it wasn’t simply because I’d walked out of the commons and into the cold January air without putting on my jacket, gloves, or scarf. I was numb for so many other reasons. Numb. Unfeeling. Unrelenting. As I walked home, I tried to care I’d broken all contact with Pete, but I couldn’t. I was numb. I heard him call after me as I walked through the f

Thanks Timothy M! We’ll see if we can pick someone up to beta read. I’ll be in touch in the next few days to go over how you like to do things. Thanks!

Hey people who are still interested in the journey of this chapter! I recently set things up so I can go back to writing and posting updates on this story. I really hope to continue posting regularly. Thanks so much for ALL of the support! I was also hoping I could reconnect with a new editor and beta reader. It looks like the folks on my old team have gone grey, so if you have interest in helping me out (and getting the chapters a few days before they post!) let me know! Happy new year!

A Whore, a Liar, Vindictive, and Petty
Jwolf commented on Jwolf's story chapter in A Whore, a Liar, Vindictive, and Petty
Hey everyone! I know it’s been a while, and I’m long overdue for an update. Since updating the story, I’ve gone through a few life changes and moves. This has kept me from being able to write as regularly as I’d love to. I also broke my laptop a while back and have yet to be able to replace it. With that being said, it is my absolute intention to keep this story going. Revisiting this stage of my life has been meaningful and therapeutic and I need this story as much as you all love to read it. Once I get a new laptop and can continue at a regular pace, I’ll begin updating again. Not sure what that time frame looks like, but hopefully sooner than later. Thanks to you all for checking up and checking in and your kind words mean more than you know.- 46 comments
