Claude Vivier (1948-1983) was a Quebecois composer. His aesthetics are hard to describe but are incredibly shaped by the many travels he took around the world and how that interacted with the teachings of some of his major instructors, such as Gilles Tremblay and Karlheinz Stockhausen. He was openly gay in a time when it was difficult to be so. He met an untimely demise at the hands of a young prostitute he met at a bar in Paris, leaving a hole in the midst the voices of a generation of Canadian composers.

I'm loving how you are showing us Clint's bright energy in reflection in this chapter. It's great that they managed to get the GSA moving forward past a resistant upper administration, though I wonder what is going to happen with those threats of action against the club if people end up getting bullied for being in the club (how fucking regressive is that!?). We see lots of storm clouds on the horizon with Greg and Angie, don't we?

三木 稔 Miki Minoru (1930-2011) was a Japanese composer. He was very active in promoting the study of traditional Japanese (and to a lesser extent other East Asian) traditional instruments. He wrote works with a wide range of styles with an interesting variety of instrumental combinations, with or without Western instruments. Hanayagi ('The Greening') is a piece for modern 20-string koto, and one of my favourites of his works. I first heard it played by Han Mei, a Chinese-Canadian who is an unparalleled performer on the guzheng (sort of the Chinese equivalent of the koto) and a scholar of East Asian ethnomusicology. She absolutely mesmerized me, and I was lucky enough to have a few discussions with her about intersections between traditional and classical music, both in the Eastern and Western world. She's a friend of my old composition and harpsichord teachers back in university, and I'd love to hear her play this live again some day. I'd share her recording, but I cannot find it on the web anywhere, so this version on koto will have to do:

I did this as one of my rep pieces in high school. I've always loved Debussy, and musical impressionism, both 19th/early 20th century and more modern iterations, has been a big influence on me. Pieces like Linda Catlin-Smith's Versailles, Krzystof Penderecki's Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima, and Toru Takemitsu's A Flock Descends into the Pentagonal Garden... I even got into an argument with an ex-girlfriend's best friend over the value of Debussy's music when they came over and I was playing around with the Children's Corner suite. Debussy's music isn't just remarkable, it is also very fun to play!

Like Graeme, I loved that moment of the hug. Such a focal point for Toph's issues! It definitely demonstrates how Toph has developed an attachment disorder due to both circumstances and his interpretations of those happenings. It was a lovely link into what looms on the horizon. Hopefully the sailboat won't be rocked by seas too stormy.

Nice chapter, advancing things from Jason's side. Of course, now that all of Jason'so cards are on the table Shane as to fill us with trepidation. What are we going good to be shown and how will Jason react? He has a history of not handling difficult things very well... but now more of the mystery is going to unravel. :-)

Wonderful chapter. We finally have confirmation of exactly what we expected - that Cathy and his brother had shacked up. Brutal. Same with Del and his treatment of Kelly. I am surprised it took seven years, but sometimes people are blind in love. And now we have the shift in Joseph and Kelly's relationship. I wonder how he's going to handle the fallout?

October 23, 2021 I’m still off of work. The headaches have mostly receded, so I’m going to try and teach tomorrow. Hank was the one filling in for me, so he came to meet with me after classes ended to update me on things. There were no surprises, the usual quality of work handed in, the usual shit-disturbers causing ruckus. Hank did, however, compliment me on my choice of reading materials for the lit classes and the exercise the students were supposed to work on in my writ

This was such a powerful moment for Kye, for his recovery. Powerful for both of them, of course, because of the exchange of love both physically and vocally. A sweet chapter before some more serious action next, I assume. There were some things that had me feeling a bit of foreboding as I read, but perhaps that's because I am beyond suspicious of every person that isn't Ash, Liam, Tareth and Kye (and Rowland, Samuel, and Amelia, but they are back at the manor...). One physiological thing: when you mention Ash's throbbing balls when he's standing at the wash basin, it gave me pause. Generally, a man's balls don't throb unless they are in pain or once the ejaculatory reflex pattern immediately before and during orgasm begins, delivering the spermatic fluid mix to the urethra where it mixes with the other secretions that produce semen. They can develop sensitivity and a sense of fullness, but the throbbing sensations (and physical manifestation of it) is generally limited to the penis. Or maybe I've been misled... Regardless, I'm being really nitpicky there and I could easily be wrong. Looking forward to the next one! Cheers!

Love it!

"Your symptoms are going to be more extreme than usual." Indeed, Kelly. Indeed.

Nice beginning. I look forward to seeing more!

I did not expect the revelation of Jason's jealousy to happen so soon after Shane came home, but I like it. There is still a lot that we are in the dark about, just like Jason, but that's a good start. Nikolai, ever mysterious... but a *snake* of all things? Curious. Very curious. I wonder what you have in store for us on that front? If Shane holds out on meeting Thomas... hmm. I doubts that will go over well. We already know he has it out for Jason and is starting to throw resources behind it. I wonder if he's going to try to blackmail Shane or Jason, if there isn't something horrible he can do to Jason directly? Obviously the house security is going to be important at some point, and likely that gun as well... the question becomes against whom? There are already so many known dangers - Denise, Thomas, the people who went after Shane in the first place - and so much left unknown. Love it, as usual, and looking forward to more!

I all for the use of period-appropriate instruments, and gut stringing in particular. There is something you lose from the sound world of the piece when things are changed... even if there are different gains as well. I prefer the sound of classical wooden flutes to modern metal, for example, because they have a richer timbre due to the nature of wood. That's a nice one.

I don't watch streams too often, and most of what I do watch is people playing Fire Emblem and similar games... so the users Mangs, Mageknight404, ghaststation, etikaworldnetwork... there are others so it is pretty random and I have no idea about the sexuality of most of them (though Mangs and Etika are definitely straight). To be honest I don't really care about their orientation - just content quality. Gaygamers.net might be gone but there is http://queersplaygames.com which has a lot of different stuff.

Poor Pierre. I hope that incident isnt foreshadowing something bad to come, but so much of this chapter made me all mushy feeling inside.

Some great movement forward, and hell yes to the acceptance Dean had for his mating to Kao. I guess instinct will always go such a long way with lycans. Obviously I am curious to see how this trial will go down, and am still wondering if Victoria's scent smelling wrong is more than just a reaction to the fact that she isn't his mate... one would think that Goldie would notice something off about her. Unless Goldie is also a problem... or at least is holding her cards close to her chest in some greater issue. Then again, Victoria will be a VP and will now have access to lots of things that could ruin the company... a (non)wolf in sheep's clothing. Cheers!

So many things to discover!

I hate saying this but I agree with spikey. Eli isn't the abused one, and he has no true reason to believe Joey could make things worse for either of them while rotting in jail. Sure Eli has flaws - and you have done a great job making him real up to this point - but this kind of spits in the face of how he deals with his relationship with Ben, both directly and in conversation with his mother, for example.

Originally I was going to phrase it 'pussy petter or canine caresser' but I thought maybe I should tone it down...

Totally not what I was expecting. Awesome!
