  1. I know I can't be the only one. I woke up this morning with a song stuck in my head. I wouldn't mind if it was a happy or upbeat one' but no. I got up and the song "Smile" is running through my head. Usually when this happens the song indicates what sort of day I am in for. Wonder what sort of heartbreak I am in for? For those who don't know it, one of my favorites sings it here
  2. For a change I thought I would start this one. Happy Birthday! Hope your day is a great one Myr.

    Life isn't easy

My therapist has twenty years on me, and is married with grandchildren. So all I get out of therapy is a little electro stim to my back, some hot compresses, and a lot of stretching. No eye candy, and nothing to make distract me from what has to be done. I don't know if that is good or bad. lol
  4. Been on flash back and this song has stuck with me and I am listening to it again.
  5. Well it is Friday again, looks around, and I seem to be able to steal the spotlight for the moment. Since I managed to slip in again I get to pick what is featured as well as introduce this week's prompts. So let me see if I can entice anyone with this week's offerings. Prompt 230 – Creative Tag – First Line “I never said this wasn’t going to hurt.” Prompt 231 – Creative Tag – List of Words Use the following words in a story: silk tie, dog toy, chain, bubble bath, and leather gloves. I hope someone finds a little inspiration in one of them and decides to show us their take on it. Now two weeks ago, yes we had to deal with that nasty business last week, I managed to find some takers for both of the prompts. However James Savik really took off with prompt 229, which was : You entered into a contest and have won the chance to spend the day with your favorite star. Who is it and what do you do? And here is just a snippet of his story so far. James has a lot more of the story up. Want to read it? Of course you do! Read and leave him a comment here on the prompt page http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/36938-prompt-229-creative/ Of course you might be interested to know someone also did Prompt 228 so go read that too. http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/36937-prompt-228-creative/ Hopefully next week we might get a chance to read something new from you. Enjoy your weekend everyone.
  6. I am a beta not an editor. I will help an author with their story, suggest changes when something doesn't make sense, beg for more detail when I feel it is left out, and point things out to whoever I beta for. However, the one thing I remind them completely is this is their story. If they don't like something I suggest they are free to totally ignore it. I will also tell them they need an editor. I will help with the story, but I don't do spelling or edits. Those are not my forte.
  7. I have begun physical therapy. I've only had two sessions so not looking to go dancing or run a marathon. I realize this isn't going to heal overnight and I have to be patient. Just wish that while one part of my life was out of kilter the rest would remain on course. Just feeling really old and alone lately. Life marches on and rather than be run over, I find a way to keep on going. I offer this one piece of advice to those who might read it. Be careful what you say. You never know what weight your words have. Remember a simple greeting and wishing someone a good day can go a long way to improving someone's day. A rude comment or insulting remark, even made off the cuff, can cut someone as easily as a knife can. Words have power and they can go a long way toward healing or hurting someone. Think carefully before you speak.

    Chapter 1

Shh. I'm trying hard to keep my prompts from spreading out to full stories. I'm in the process of working on two of them now. One them was Seeon. Geez. Let a prompt stay as it is.
  9. Just wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday Mark. Enjoy.

    Remembering

Time has a way of moving on and not always do we notice. Unfortunately we seem to mark events by the good or bad events in our lives. Overall I guess I cannot complain. I have events that are great milestones. Graduating high school, then college. Going for my Masters degree (okay it is just the damn thesis I need to finish). The birth of my godson. The marriage of my brother. The marriages of so many friends. However these are offset by the passing of some important people as well. The passing of my grandmother still is one that I remember well. She was the first person I knew and loved to die. It leaves a mark on your heart you can't forget. Of course that does not compare to the one left by my mother's passing four years ago. The pain is there though not as sharp. Little things bring her to mind, but at least now it makes me smile. So sorry if I am a bit off. My friends have kept me up and I am grateful. Again it might be a day late but Happy Mother's Day to all of those special women who work so tirelessly to improve the lives of their children.

    Chapter 1

Yeah, I have a tendency to think things through and wonder what if ... and so everything she wears is totally organic, even her shoes. Just think of the things that might happen if you wore a wolfskin jacket, or a mink coat, or even alligator boots? Then there is the whole thing of what differences you make could help or hurt the future. Remember, she talks of going both to the past and the future. lol. I am so bad.

    Chapter 3

Wow total rewrite from what I'd seen earlier. I so love Murray. I get the feeling his appearance has been a saving grace for both Brad and Jake. So we have an attractive teacher in the form of Tony. Well he is single and his ex seems to be handling his orientation well. So just what does the future hold here? Can't wait till your next little chapter.

Thank you Dolores. I always say the prompts give you the chance to try something new. Mysteries are not usually my thing.

Thank you Slytherin. I try but don't always know if I succeed.

    Chapter 1

I'm always glad to know a reader has enjoyed a story. I agree a good story should suck you in and before you know it, it is over. Thanks for reading and commenting.

    Chapter 1

Well when your sister-in-law is just eighteen and has powers, I think it is safe to say Teresa tries her best to keep Wendy in check. However Wendy is the one with the powers so she pretty much gets her own way, or her power makes sure to do it. Glad you enjoyed it Jo Ann.

    Chapter 1

Thanks Dad. Yeah, I read what the others did and my mind immediately did a new take on it. Besides I also got to play with the Snow White image. Glad you liked it.
  18. “Just get her ass in here.” I could hear Johnston screaming from across the street. I sipped my cold coffee and tried to put some distance between me and the crime scene. I knew it wouldn’t last, but a girl could hope couldn’t she. An ambulance worker left the house just as the Medical Examiner pulled up. I wanted to look anywhere else but I couldn’t help but watch the front door. I spotted Detective Teresa Collins as she left the house. It was sort of hard to miss her. At six foot two, she t
  19. Wendy is a bit of a witch, and to be honest she so is not having a good day. What happens when Wendy's powers take over?
  20. Har, I think people are just themselves. None of us purposely go out of ways to ignore or forget people. Life has a way of interrupting it. Lately I haven't been much on my game. With my back out and my foot acting up, I don't know which end is up. Add in an ailing father, a job, and the meds I've been on and forget it. I'm a lost cause. Hope things have been getting better for you. You always seem so down and that can't be healthy for you. Remember we might not always know what to say, or get here as quickly as we should but you do have people who want to know you are alright and still fighting the good fight. Wayne
  21. Well it is Friday again and I thought I would slip in for a change and actually introduce the prompts myself. I guess after a hundred plus attempts to catch an author's attention this might help. You know, like anyone else I enjoy reading what others have done with the prompts. For our experts this is a just a chance to flex those writing muscles, and for the newbie it is simply a chance to get some feedback on something you wrote. These can be flash fiction pieces, poetry, or whatever you decide to do with the topic. Okay, enough of me begging and pleading for you to write. Time to show you what I have up my sleeve for you this week. Prompt 228 – Creative Tag – The Gamble You have won a trip to Las Vegas. Everything is going well, until your partner loses everything you both own on the poker table. You have one chance to win it all back, but if you lose you could very well lose your soul. Are you up for the gamble? Prompt 229 – Creative Tag – The Star You entered into a contest and have won the chance to spend the day with your favorite star. Who is it and what do you do? Do either of them appeal to you? Last week I didn't seem to have any takers for the topics. However we did have someone who went way back to find a topic they liked. Renee Stevens, usually a little busy with the blog, found time to dig out prompt 75. The original prompt asks you to use the first line "Please," he begged. "Can I have this one?" Wanna see what she did with it? Of course you do! Do you want to know what happened next? Then go read the full story here : https://www.gayauthors.org/story/renee-stevens/lineofsight/1 Here is hoping one of these prompts inspire you to write something. Thanks for reading.

    Chapter 9

Yes, this all started as an anthology piece. I was about halfway into it when personal issues sort of put this on the back burner. Jonas hasn't been forgotten, I actually do have two more chapters written, and about three more to go to hopefully finish the story. Just need to get them to the beta and editor.
  23. Happy Birthday Finn. Hope you enjoyed it all.
