For me your poem was all about the visual. For some reason I was reminded of the Dark Crystal and could only see the worn out creatures before they joined once again to be more. You get the sense that ages have come and gone and they travel on till the reason for everything is gone and the ghost almost blows out like a candle. Interesting imagery throughout it.

I know I've heard said before but what good is a life unexamined? Your poem does nothing less then take a moment to look at what you have, be grateful for it, and look to the future. If our heart is weighed on the scale of truth against a feather, may we be lucky enough to see the scales balance. Definitely food for thought in your poem.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. While it is personal it is still general enough for those who choose to read it to get something from it. I've always been someone who likes to leave the reader with closure, not always, but most of the time. Here it just seemed natural to do so. Thanks for commenting. Always nice to know what, if anything, a reader gets from my poetry or story.

Well I played a bit with the idea life and the seasons. I tried to pick the first or the most abundant flower of that time of the year. Winter really doesn't have a flower, and my birth flower is listed as holly. I'm glad it made sense.

I just kept thinking when someone might speak softly at night. This was my first thought.

With everything going on in today's world it isn't often you hear of people taking the time to put together a project just to make someone smile. I've had a few set backs this year, but I keep going. Like everyone I have my ups and downs. Yesterday was a bit rough with the tests I had to take causing my back to flare up again. So you can imagine my surprise when I got a package today. At first I thought it was a really big box from one person, however I soon discovered that there were many people who had reached out and given stories and recipes to create a book just for me. The book is absolutely beautiful. The stories, poems, and recipes mean the world to me. To all of you who participated my sincere thanks and gratitude. It is always nice to know people care and this was about the best present I could have possibly received. You are all sneaky, but absolutely wonderful.

Alright as the American who better to comment. 1) Americans are use to seeing the English in the roles of American Superheroes. Does anyone remember the new Spiderman or say Professor X from the X-men movies? So for me that is a non issue. 2) Superman may be from Krypton but he grew up as an all American farm boy from the mid-west. Those ideals are what began and molded him. However, (yeah I caught that 80s reference and have to use it) the 80s comic Superman did some departure from what had come before. There the writers took him on a world tour before he was introduced to the world allowing him to see how different cultures approached things. Knowing he could easily be a god if he wanted it was that farm boy upbringing that kept him in check. At heart he is Clark Kent not Kal-el. 3) This is supposed to be the first of the intro stories as DC prepares to copy Marvel's idea and finally give the public a Justice League movie. So we are about to get a new version of Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, and Green Lantern within the next few years. Let us hope for the most part they don't copy the new versions that DC released, but take the images most people are use to and modernize them. (Truthfully as long as you keep the colors, cape, and shield for Superman he has had a number of alterations over the years.) 4) I haven't heard of Johnathan Kent pushing for Clark to let someone die, although even in the comic he has reminded Clark that while he might be Superman, he isn't God and can't save everyone. So without seeing the clip I can't comment.

I have used writing groups in the past and can agree with all Libby pointed out. I have worked with mixed groups where the writers were at similar writing abilities, but all wrote in different genres. That was both good and bad. Offering fresh perspectives, yet having issues because while one understands romance the world of sci-fi was unknown. The historical drama author and the urban feminist couldn't find common ground. While the notes from each author on your story were insightful, they weren't always helpful. A good group should have a general understanding of the stories being written, be honest, and be willing to challenge the author if they find problems.

Here are three poems based off the idea for the poetry anthology "Whispers in the Dark"

Trust me Jo Ann, people have sent me some letter head and note cards. Going to be using them too. My big thing is I like to have fun and make the people who get my cards ( like you ) smile when they see what I have sent them this time.

Well most of what I've sent started with picture postcards of spots around Long Island. However, I grew bored with that. I mean how many can you send before people begin to think you are nuts. Then I found Zazzle and began to order cards about things I enjoyed. Superman, Batman, Harry Potter, and Looney Tunes. Just was hoping people might have an idea of other places I could get some interesting postcards from that people might enjoy.
