  1. I'm on board.
  2. I have never had sex in a bathroom!! Wait... ... ... ... No, I haven't.
  3. I wanted to kick his ass. The good news is its all powder, so it's not that bad to shovel. I dusted my car in the afternoon after the storm left Jersey and the worst part was just scraping the little bit of ice from the windows and keeping my dad from taking a stiff broom to my paint like he did to his truck. *shudders* Don't need him giving me more problems when I polish it in March/April.
  4. Something else to consider is, the study might be asking the kids what is right or wrong and what is good or bad, but who's to say these kids even know what right and wrong is, good and bad is? At those early ages, kids don't think. They take everything at face value. When my sister was little, she and my mother encountered a woman with obvious African descent at the supermarket. My sister, having never seen someone who wasn't white, turned to my mother and asked (loudly), "Why is that lady a different color?" Naturally, my mother blanched and apologized to the woman. The lady said, "Oh don't worry, I get asked that more than you might think," then turned to my sister and said, "I'm black because my ancestors are from Africa, where the people are this color." My sister's response? "Oh, okay!" It was that simple. I laugh when straight couples who are against gay marriage say things like, "What will we tell our children when they see two men marry and ask us, 'why'?" The answer is simple. Tell them, "Because they love each other, and when two people love each other enough, they get married and start a family together." You don't even have to mention the family bit. I promise you, if your kid isn't really the spawn of Satan and asks 'Why' after every answer you give, they'll accept that answer at face value and move on. [OFF TOPIC] So, since I'm gay, and left-handed, does that mean I'm really a Lieutenant in Satan's army? I guess if you're black, too, then you're Satan's General! [/OFF TOPIC]
  5. I've replaced my Pontiac... now driving a 2002 Chrysler 300M Special, Deep Sapphire Blue. I love me my sport/luxury sedans.
  6. Trevor is 17. If Florida law is similar to New Jersey law, then he no longer is required to attend secondary school. He could have legally dropped out at 16. Bad parenting... yeah, Dirk was a dick.
  7. I read through five pages of comments on the article and found two things. First, I'm amazed that anyone still thinks gays are vile. Second, it warms my heart to see many more people countering the dimwits who insist I am incapable of raising a child. My mother is aware that I am gay, that she had nothing to do with, that it wasn't a choice, and that all the religious rhetoric is a farce, all on her own, and she still insists that I have children. She asked, "What if your partner wants kids?", to which I replied, "Then maybe." (I hate kids). She is religious and yet she has no misconception that two men or two women are incapable of raising children. One of the comments on there I found to be quite hilarious. A man who is against the idea of gay marriage and gay parents and is sickened at the idea of two men or two women having sex quoted someone who defined homophobia. He said, "I have never met anyone who is afraid of gays," in a humorous way. I really wanted to quote him and say, "Look in the mirror." Will I have kids some day? If my husband really wants kids, and we're in a stable situation to do it, then sure. He'll just have to be sure I don't put the screaming thing in the trunk when we go on vacations.
  8. I still don't understand why some people are insisting that Dirk is gay... there's been no indication of that. In fact, the indication of anyone being gay has come from Trevor, and he's been fixated on the issue because he feels that this is the only reason for Dirk wanting him to be normal, when Dirk has given no indication that he knows about Trevor, or cares one way or another. Here's what we know about Dirk: - He was going through a divorce from Trevor's mother at the time of her disappearance - He has an attorney named Jim [NEW] - He is a suspect in her disappearance/death [NEW] - He gets seasick and airsick quite easily - He owns a boat supply store - He drives a Champagne Chrysler - He's very hot headed, has a short fuse, overreacts easily, etc. - He's hiding something big from everyone except for Jim. Since Jim is his attorney, then I feel that this secret has a lot to do with Rachel. His heart is in the right place, but his methods are way out of line. Unfortunately, it appears to have rubbed off on Trevor, who also has his heart in the right place, but is going about this issue all wrong. I understand his reasoning for what he did -- as far as he knows, if he doesn't take off with Atlantis, then his last link to his long-disappeared mother is gone. Lord knows, he would never be able to afford to buy it back as I'm sure Dirk would hang on to all the money in a sale for himself, or possibly for school for Trevor. What I'm curious about in Jim's other role in the plot. He'd said, "Speaking as your attorney," which means he is something else. Attorney's are often friends (rarely lovers). I really doubt he is Dirk's gay lover. If Dirk was so far in the closet that he resented the thought of Trevor being gay (we have no confirmation that he could read Trevor's cryptic hints, and so far we can tell that's he terrible with cryptic messages) then he would not have a gay lover. If he has a gay lover, then he would not be hiding it from Trevor for nine years and refuse to believe his son is gay (and Trevor has not explicitly come out to Dirk).
  9. I just saw it, since my mother bought it and wanted me to see it. Horrors don't scare me, ever. This was no different. My mother kept saying it was a true story, since they thank the families of Micah and Katie, and the local PD. Of course, her statement of that was punctured by the alternate ending. In the theatrical ending, she watches the sheet get pulled from Micah's sleeping form, then she walks over and watches him sleep for an hour or so, then goes downstairs, screams his name, he runs to help, she kills him, throws his body at the camera, smells him, then attacks the camera. In the alternate ending, the sheet stays on him, she goes downstairs after watching him, screams nothing in particular, he runs to help, she kills him, walks upstairs with a knife, locks the door, then goes right up to the camera and slits her throat. The boyfriend was annoying, but he was cute. Doable, but not datable. At least, at the end of the day, he was devoted to her.

    Why?

Because it gets posted on internet forums, with the OP asking, "WHY?!" Jus' sayin'...
  11. Technically, the title of the story has already been excercised. Trevor Circumnavigates the last supposed position of the Ares at least once per year. Of course, that's not to say he doesn't circumnavigate something later in the story. My guesses are, Bimini, Grand Bahama Island, the Islands of the Bahamas, South Florida, the Florida Keys (Largo, West, etc.), and the Bermuda Triangle.
  12. My favorite is the very same that you see in my signature. At the moment: "Scientists discover the world as it is; Engineers create the world that never has been." - Von Karmen
  13. Given all the crap I've seen on the internets over the years, this doesn't surprise me at all. It seems quite tame, actually.
  14. Damnit Mark, that was supposed to be a secret! Where's my cane... lol thanks guys. I spent the weekend snowboarding in the Poconos without internet. Did a barrel roll on my birthday... sideways... down the slope... When you get to my level of skill, you stop having frequent small falls, and start having infrequent wipeouts. That one adjusted my internal organs a bit. The good news is I think I found my terminal velocity. Going down a slope, one that was straight, smooth, and relatively flat, the wind resistance hitting my jacket slowed my acceleration to nil. Felt like I was going a few ticks over 50 MPH. Nice and breezy. I suspect those skiers will think twice before calmly walking side-by-side at the bottom of that one slope from lift to lift.
  15. Nicely done. "Focus on the Family" is a perfect name for that organization. They really do focus on families. How many years now has it been destroying families? Great focus... Gays aren't threatening the foundation of the family. Religion is.

    Montreal

There's a ZO6 on every corner?? I'M THERE!! I can get over the whole French thing! What? I don't see anything else in that picture... do you?
  17. There is definitely a lot of mis-communication, in that the both of them are ignorant fools. What they need to do is sit down and quit being so cryptic with each other. It's not helping to just say something and assume the other person knows what you mean! But, it seems that Dirk has another secret, which was hinted in chapter 7. I wonder if, perhaps, the Ares had been found, with no one on board? Maybe Jim has the Ares up where he is, north of Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie, and could be where Dirk has been going, trying to find clues?
  18. Not if I knock him down first. You don't have to outrun the Echidna. You only have to trip and outrun the goat!
  19. I almost had a stroke when I checked the weather a little while ago, and the wind chill was the same as the ambient air temperature! It's hasn't been over freezing in over a week, and the only part about it that pisses me off is we've had NO precip! The worst so far has been the storm that dumped 2 feet of snow over South and Central Jersey, while I got about 9-10 inches (giggity). Two days of rain over Christmas and Christmas Eve took care of that. -.- I'm probably going to the Poconos for some much needed snowboarding (parents offered to pay for lift tickets for my birthday!), so there had better be some snow! You here that, Father Winter?? Answer me, or Global Warming has a new errand boy!
  20. I always knew those Aussies were weird... *runs and hides from the Echidna, behind the goat!*
  21. No. My mother's mother came here from Scotland. My mother does not have citizenship in Scotland simply because of that. You have to seek dual citizenship... I don't think it can happen by circumstance.
  22. Some of you might be over-analyzing this... just a little. One thing I picked up on was, Dirk's demeanor over Trevor supposedly knowing where he went was really not much more than disappointed, probably in himself. He's hiding something. Has he been hiding it for nine years? Probably not, but it depends on what it is. I have two theories on what he is doing: 1). He has a lover. A female lover. How long have they been dating? Dunno, but that depends on how honest he has been with her. If she knows about his son, then probably not long. I'm no expert on organisms with vaginas, but they tend to like keeping things out in the open, and not being secrets themselves. I expect she would give Dirk an ultimatum to "come out" to Trevor and come clean. So, if she knows, it's only been a short time. Now, Dirk might well have told her nothing about him having a son with his late wife. In this case, they could well have been together for years now The one thing that nags my mind about him having a secret lover is, wouldn't she have noticed that they only see each other on weekends? Something like that is kind of odd. True, my own relationship is based entirely around weekends -- long distance relationship necessitate the need for it -- but this phenomenon is no less rare. In any event, it decreases the likelihood that Dirk is dashing away to meet his Rapunzel (sp?). 2). He's launched his own investigation into his wife's sea-borne disappearance. He's hired a private investigator, well out of the town in which his son lives, to try to find her. Occasionally, he needs to leave Ft. Pierce to meet with the investigator and try to get further to finding out what happened to her. Still shaky, but more likely I think. 3). This one addresses the idea that Dirk had Rachel whacked. True, the divorce could have been nasty, and he could have hired pirates (not uncommon in that area!) to take her out. That would explain her boat suddenly taking on water, then the radio being taken out by their onboard scrambler and kidnapping her, towing the derelict Ares out of the area to a hidden island where the Coast Guard would not find it. I find this all unlikely. For one, Rachel was not upset over the divorce in the prologue. Seems to me that it was going to be a peaceful one, as evidenced by the fact that Trevor found it to be mutual, via the presence of both signatures. Hence, no need to have her whacked. 4). Let's not rule out piracy. They're well known for attacking small charter boats, hoping to find rich people with lots of goodies to sell on the black market. Hence the need for a private investigator, as the authorities might be of little assistance. 5). I can't count. One other thing that stood out to me and confirmed that his excursion was not as big a deal as we might have thought is that Dirk's face lost all color when Trevor revealed that he knew about the divorce. This tells me that Dirk is not out dancing around another guys pole, and isn't involved in a crime syndicate, as those would be far more damaging than discovering that your parents were getting a quiet divorce shortly before your mother was lost at sea. I do not think that his mother is simply living in Australia. BUT, it's obvious that Rachel's family knows something important. Pertinent to her disappearance? Maybe, maybe not. All we know is she is from Australia, and still has family there. We don't know enough to speculate, yet. All I can guess is that they might know more about her past, and his past. Maybe she was kidnapped by the pirates and she managed to get a call out that way? Maybe she's still being held captive and her rich family is trying to pay a ransom? Maybe the Scar has a brother in Australia who targeted her to get something from the family? Perhaps not Scar's brother, but something thereabouts. Either way, her family is important, now. To what end, we must wait to discover.
  23. Every garment that own that in some way covers my ass, crotch, and legs, and isn't underwear, either is called "cargo" or "carpenter". I likes my pockets! If us boys carried man purses, we'd look totally gay! lol I have two bags. A small Microsoft messenger bag for days when I only need my laptop, and maybe one binder, and a large laptop backpack for when I have to carry many binders and textbooks. The only reason I bought the messenger bag was because it was cheap and I was sick of using the big backpack on light class days.
  24. I have an enV Touch. I use it for calls, text messaging, picture messaging, and emails primarily. I used to use for AIM on the go, until that mysteriously stopped working. I can't live without it, as I feel that is needed for when people need to reach me at a moments notices, as opposed to waiting all day for me to return home. I spend upwards of 12 hours per day at school sometimes, and there is NO other way for people to reach me while I am there, short of going there and arranging a search party (school encompasses about three towns). I want the DROID. Not the cheap HTC knock-off, the real deal by Motorola. Blows the iPhone out of the water... like, puts its thumb to its nose and says "NEENER NEENER NEENER!!" Once it has an app for starting a car by voice prompts, I will install a remote starter on my car and get the DROID. Then I can be like the russian guy in 2012 and say, "Engine... Start!" hehe My sister just upgraded from her Voyager to the DROID... I'm plotting her death.
  25. Well after only two tequila drinks, he was purple nurpling me, [censored], and [censored], while we were trying to walk back down the boardwalk... I'm not surprised if he did.
