Great Chapter! Although, my mind is having a 'time-line' seizure... I just can't imagine how they could have so much happen in one day. They started out the day going through town, meeting the son of a town leader who directed them to Gran's house, reuniting with Gran, meeting her 'housekeeper/?', having what seemed to be a long conversation about their lifestyle/partner choices (along with their Concern for Runyan and the whereabouts of Willie James), going over the deed and getting it signed and sorted, and stopping at the bank. Then they made what seemed like a long trip to Barnswallow, getting through the gate, reuniting with Willie James and almost losing Runyan in the process. Then they started making their way past the beautiful house and discovering the wonderfully well built and maintained barn and, all the stalls and pens. Then they checked out the shed with all the wonderful tools and mysteriously well-maintained saddle and horse tack. Finally, they checked out the out-building, which they think was once used as a bunkhouse. Thew! And NOW, they're headed for the house and all the wonderful surprises it is sure to contain. Gary, I love how descriptively you write... reading your writing is like actually being there and experiencing all the sights, sounds, smells, temperatures and textures of where we are. I get immersed in the imagery that your writing evokes. And then, suddenly, I'm thinking, where the hell in this country are we? [yeah, I'm on that again]. I'm guessing that we maybe started in Iowa or Nebraska and, because they went East, they are now in Indiana maybe? But that seems too close to have taken three weeks to get there... then again... 🤔

Dark Thoughts and Dark Clouds Given the title of this chapter, I honestly anticipated a sad ending to the chapter... Thank you Gary for the pleasant surprise. There were several hints and speculation that Gran 'knew something' because of her reassurances that things would be alright. So, I was also expecting Willie James to reveal that Gran gave him a key to the gate lock (recently oiled) so that he could surprise the new arrivals but then figured he wouldn't have had to be camping if he had a house or barn to sleep in. Gran wouldn't have allowed that... Can't wait to hear about the house, barn, land and other 'surprises' in store.

Dolly never forgot where she came from and saw her talent and well-earned wealth as a gift to be shared with others. She was naturally humbled by her fame and never gravitated toward entitlement or snobbery. She will be missed for her music for sure but I think that she will be missed for her beautiful character and integrity even more.

I'm really not liking the humiliation, degradation and contempt that the noble Andy is receiving at the hands of the evil Lucas. I want Andy to take a stand and demand that Lucas treat him with respect. It's just not much fun reading this anymore.

Loved the chapter! Good to hear that they're making good progress toward Warrensville and Barnswallow. Excellent writing of the confrontation with Regis and Darnell and the appearance of Runyan. Am I the only one who noticed that Regis' friend was Lance at the beginning of the confrontation and Darnell after things cooled down? Hmmm...

I'm surprised that the word Loyalty isn't being used along with Trustworthy and Faithful... Subtle but profound differences and combinations of intent. Maybe... It just seems that there is some 'blind loyalty' going on here...

I don't think it wise to assume that Ali is on the side of helping Lawrence discover the truth. He could also very well be intentionally distracting Lawrence away from the truth.

HEHE... Google tells me that a town named 'Warrensville Heights is in Ohio and that Enniskillen is a town in Northern Ireland... A wee bit more than a month by team. So, I'm guessing that they're headed somewhere in Iowa or Nebraska. Oh well, you've always been a bit cryptic about geographical locations. I live in Minnesota and have been around the Midwest quite a bit so I'm particularly interested in these 'old West' tales and trying to figure out where they are taking place.

Seems to me that Willie James and Runyan's situation isn't too difficult to figure out. My guess is that they will, indeed, be joining August and Fletcher 'out West'. They both have horses and at least some experience with farming/ranching. They could be passed off as hired hands to help move Fletcher's sheep by train. It doesn't seems safe for Runyan to be traveling by wagon for three weeks. Would having Willie James around be a problem for Fletcher, since he was one who introduced Augie to boy fun? I'm still a little confused why they're waiting a month to ship the sheep by train. I guess it makes sense since, in the conversation with the blacksmith, it was stated that it'll take about 3 weeks to get there by wagon whereas the train takes 3 1/2 days. Is Grayson traveling with the sheep alone? Maybe Runyan could go with him or is the younger brother still planning to help move the sheep by train? I'm a little confused about the logistics here and I still wish I could get an idea of the geographical situation. HEHE... the situation is getting complicateder and complicateder...

I missed something... Why is Lawrence being called 'Garth'? When did that start and why?

I don't remember specifically how I found GA, but I do remember the first story I read... 'A to Z' by Parker Owens. I'm guessing that I started reading it on Nifty and I really don't remember how I found Nifty either. What I first liked about the site is the format... easy to read and navigate. I also liked the notifications of new chapters, although I don't have them sent to my email anymore because I pretty much check-in at GA every day and my first stop is 'Content I Follow'. It took me a while to start reading reader's comments and even longer before I started leaving comments myself. I never got into the Forums but I'm starting to look at them more seriously. I think this in the first message on here that I've contributed to. I also like 'The Story Lovers Home' because, even though I can't 'follow' content on there, I get a list of new chapter postings and find updates to stories I'm following.

SO GLAD that they decided find a secluded spot to experiment for their first time! Even though Rob was busy clearing out the 'back room', his new bedroom, I still wouldn't trust him to stay away from Augie and Fletcher's meetin' spot. After all, they've been gone a long time. I'm also happy to hear that Augie wants Fletcher to fuck him too... “I’ll never bet against you, no sir, but if’n you can do it, so can I. Won’t run from your cock neither, and won’t run from you ever again.” (At least, I think that's what he was saying...)

I'm so glad that you figured out a way to confirm the 'falling out' between Fletcher and his dad to Albert... HEHE... getting into an argument in town is a great idea... that way there will be witnesses and not just one man's word against another. Roland can always set people straight if they come to him concerned. Then again, I'm guessing that people know that any argument between Fletcher and his dad would be quickly resolved simply because of the kind of people they are known to be.

Wow! Nicely played! I hope that Augie clues Fletcher in on the story and he tells his dad. I would imagine that Albert will take the first opportunity to dig at Roland about it. Good thing there's no phones!

Fletcher did say that he was one of seven children but he didn't say where he was in the line-up.

I live in a Southeast suburb of St. Paul, MN. When he was young, my son asked me why they put two big cities, Minneapolis/St. Paul right next to each other. I explained that, back then, a horse and wagon ride between the two was an all-day adventure. By car, it's only 10 minutes. He got it.

Another good old-west story! Thank you! Would be cool if Fletcher and Augie get honest and figure out a way to make a home together at Gran's place, though I'm guessing that's that's kinda where this is going... Then again, I'm guessing that something will happen with Audie, Rob and Albert to make the plan either really easy or really hard. I'm curious how Augie receives or sends letters without his dad or brother knowing.

Yeah... I had the same problem with 'The Brotherhood'. I really like the story but stories like yours with so much detail, twists and turns, I have to keep back-reading to figure out what's happening. Great story!

Well, Well, Well... more twists, turns, hallucinations, dreams, time travel, flint, no flint, right flint, wrong flint... Honestly, Laura... there's something really wrong and weird about this story. I can't stop reading it but I've stopped enjoying it. It seems to be really STUCK in some kind of a loop!

These three are recognizing the power of bonding, loyalty and unity. Unfortunately, Theo still sees these things as weakness and vulnerability. He doesn't get how becoming ONE will make the three much more powerful than the sum of three individuals. I hope I said that right... You get it... You're a pretty smart group.

Yeah, Connor played at the end-of-the-year Senior dance the year before and I remember him specifically musing about Trent graduating. AND THEN, AT THIS YEAR'S TALENT SHOW: 'As I mentally prepared for the impending performance, the door that led from the hallway to the backstage area opened, and none other than Trent Lomax came walking out -- wearing a frilly pink dress and thick make-up. Why does Theo believe that his pack are all dead? Where did he get that information from? We know that the witch is a master of lies and deception and it's starting to look like Theo's pack being dead is one of the lies it wants Theo to believe. Why? What advantage does the witch gain by Theo believing that his pack is dead?
