  1. Valkyrie: A lot of people guessed Cole I’m going to assume that means I was successful in conveying the emotion of the piece, since that is one of Cole’s fortes. Thanks for the review. I’m glad you liked it.
  2. Thank you for reading and reviewing. I appreciate your support and am glad you could relate to the story.
  3. Valkyrie: I’m sorry you can relate to this on such a personal level. Thank you for the lovely review.
  4. Valkyrie: Thank you
  5. Valkyrie: Thanks so much. I’m glad you liked the story. Thanks for the review!
  6. Valkyrie: Well now you’re going to have to read my and Aditus’ stories too… lol I can relate a lot to your experience. My family has undergone a lot of changes over the past few years, and it can be very bittersweet to relive some of those memories. A lot of our traditions have fallen by the wayside, and I think it’s due to being too painful to continue them without certain family members. This is the first year I’ve been able to embrace the positive and the memories without being too maudlin. Thanks for the great review and for being so active in the discussion thread. It’s nice to hear about others’ experiences. 
  7. Valkyrie: I have had several fugly sweaters throughout the years… lol What would Christmas be without a little kitsch? I’m glad you enjoyed it and am flattered you thought it was Cole’s work. 

Ha! I so knew you would open the doors within a few days, lol. But there was a nice picture on the outside, which you could enjoy a little longer. Thank you for being a part of the team, Lisa! *hug*

Yes! We're excited too! You're very welcome, Reader! Reading burns calories. Right?
  11. The Candy Man Can When I moved back home to XXX in the early 1990s, I decided to start having a cookie decorating party with new friends. Since I didn’t really like icing and making sugar and ginger cookies look cute, I’d bake and I discovered others liked to decorate. Friends would come by and adorn cookies with candy and frosting. We had good times each December for many years. At first we just had a couple of different kinds of cookies, but then I wanted to make it more special. I foun
  12. Nelly Frittata Stephen put the last of the gifts into the tote bag, carefully tucking the box of fruit flavored candy canes into an empty pocket. He sat back in the chair and sighed. Now, he needed to get them packed. Lonnie would be home within half an hour and they needed to leave immediately. While driving home from the mall, the weatherman on the radio said a blizzard was coming, a huge storm wailing in from Canada by eleven tonight. They had a two-hour drive ahead of them and neede
  13. Happy Birthday, Gary!
  14. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LISA!!!!! May all you wishes come true, but one. Even the secret ones you barely think out loud! You're the best!
  15. The Sweater Steam rose from the piping hot black liquid contained in a mug shaped like Rudolph’s head. It dissipated as it hit the cool air, becoming a part of the atmosphere in a process as ephemeral as the thoughts of the one who held the novelty mug. The bay window revealed a breathtaking dawn. Red and yellow streaks colored large, puffy clouds in a display meant to celebrate the importance of the day. How many times had he come down the stairs to find Tommy in this very chair, drink

Prologue Aditus One nice, warm, and sunny September afternoon, I thought about Christmas, or rather of the time before Christmas: all those preparations, the cooking, the baking, kissing under the mistletoe, reading special stories, or poems, writing cards to friends and family…and of course the Advent calendar. I loved those when I was a kid. A sweet chocolaty treat every morning before I went to school. That was when I had the idea of putting together a calendar for you. Twenty-four doors ar
  17. We give you twenty-four bits and pieces of all flavors to celebrate the most mystical time of the year.

  19. It has been a very nice day! Family and friends came over... and hey it was a Friday--and not a Black Friday around here. Thank you for all your kind words and wishes. Would everything happen as you said, it should become an awesome year. @Carlos *purr* oh wait! that's a cat...er *snuffle* I might have howled too. @LBO Who's the mouse? My cats are very interested. @Daddy Oh, wow! Ganz lieben Dank, Daddy. Just perfect. And I did that. (Lass dich schön feiern.) @Tim I think they were somewhat familiar. Never hurts to watch them again, though. @northie That's about right! lol @Sasha One can never have to much love and snuggles. Thank you! @Def Oh, that's a lot! Thanks, Def. Again, I'm awed about this place. You all made me smile and very happy.
  20. What a great way to start the day! Thank you so much! So far everything is (almost) perfect. Many nice birthday greetings, the weather is very nice, I finally got my thermo mug (and burnt my tongue, silly me, the tea is actually very hot), the cake looks nice and I have a short day at work. @Clo Thank you for starting the thread. Nice cake! @Val Great cake! I'll tell him you said so. @tim Thank you! I'll do that. @Lisa *hug* A friend is never late, nor is she early. She arrives precisely when she means to. Right? @J. Hunter Dunn Peter! Vielen Dank für die lieben Glückwünsche!
  21. Happy Birthday, northie! I hope you have a wonderful day and a late rose may still bloom in your garden.
  22. Happy Birthday!

    Misadventure

I'm impressed. How I struggled with Ballades... and you mastered it so beautifully. I always had problems with that court of judgement being a bit of the carpe diem type.
