I agree with NotNoNever. If you are up for the extra work, I suggest getting him a playmate. Rescuing an adult dog, say around 3-5 years old, would probably be the best. If you go to a good shelter, the dogs are generally fostered and house trained, you won't have to deal with the horrible puppy stages. I recently had to deal with doggy depression with my dog. When my boyfriend and I started dating (eight years ago) it just happened that we had both adopted puppies a month prior. Our dogs grew up with each other from pups. They didn't get along all the time, but were still best friends. My boyfriend's dog passed away in May unexpectedly due to kidney failure and my dog was confused and later depressed when we didn't bring Skye home from the vet We went about a month and she didn't get any better, so we adopted a puppy from a local hound shelter. It is a hell of a lot of work (forgot how much having a puppy sucks), but it has helped her a lot.

I agree 100% with your entire post. Things piling up, even minor setbacks, is what usually causes my bouts of depression also.

Hmmm. I don't really drink much, once a month or so. I love mimosas, apricot is the best. My favorite wine is Valckenberg Dornfelder 2010, I could drink cases of that stuff. Favorite mixed drink is Jameson and 7up, sometimes I will drink Ron Pampero Aniversario rum and coke. Oh oh oh! Forgot about my favorite beer, Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale from Boulevard Brewing. Things I have to stay away from: Jägermeister, Seagram's 7 (horrible experience drinking it, threw up in my shoes, etc), vodka, tequila (another bad experience, or experiences, drinking it). My three favorites....

Ditto on this. Whenever my doctor recommends I see a specialist, I ask her for multiple names in my area. I then ask my boyfriend's mother who has worked in the area as an RN in multiple departments for over 30 years. She will tell me who not to see and the people she recommends, I generally have no problems with.

I don't really have preference, except for my ob-gyn doc and I prefer a male. My normal doc is female but most of my specialists are male.

Didn't read all the replies, but depression is a mental illness. I really dislike when someone says depression is something the person experiencing it can change without help, like it is their fault they are depressed and they are weak individuals. So not the case and if the person saying that ever experienced even mild depression, they would change their stance on it. I've suffered from it for years. Seeing a therapist has really helped me (doesn't help everyone, so you won't see me trying to pressure someone into going). I don't take meds for it right now as my therapist and I think we have it under control. Doing okay.

I always feel horribly retarded when someone greets me. I always respond wrong and then over-analyze it after it happens while wondering if the other person thinks I'm as much of an idiot as I think I am. For example, if I go buy food and the person tells me "Thank you for coming to our establishment" or something along those lines, I will respond with "Yeah, you too."

Stepping in a puddle of water with socks on. Do it every time I am wearing socks in my house. My dogs don't clean up after themselves when they play outside in the rain or drink water out of their dishes.

I would also recommend MI5 (Spooks), Numbers, Psych, Archer, Trailer Park Boys, Luther, Firefly (and then Serenity if you like Firefly), Bones, Peep Show, uhmmm I think that is all for tv shows. As for movies, Cashback, Heartbeats, District B13, Cocaine Cowboys. That is all I can think of right now.
