  1. Sorry, I'd love to join. But I'm saving all my vacation days for my Japan trip!
  2. Sweden always has the best commercials. The swedish telecom company Comhem (supplies TV, telephone and internet) has the best ones. Here they spoof off popular swedish youtube videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_IJD0h3-Is&list=PLA28DD6BF03F86936 Here's a rewrite featuring them with intros of popular tv-shows... Commercial for drinking responsible. They take segments of the song (usually a high-spirited and festive song) and highlight it to show the seriousness of the effects. English lessons for germans? I don't know what this commercial is really about. It's not swedish.
  3. http://letsallbemayor.com/en/event/casino-city# Real time interactive "Watch it played" once per day for one week!
  4. New album from Petula Clark (she who did Downtown). Her she is with a new version of Downtown. I like this somber version of the song.
  5. I don't own anything pink. The closest thing I could find to pink was something dark maroon.
  6. New material from Yoann Lemoine, a new album is coming out soon. He's openly gay and has directed several music videos. Including Katy Perry, Taylow Swift, Mystery Jets and Lana del Rey. He goes by Woodkid as of right now. Really great music.
  7. My boss still uses altavista. Those were the days.
  8. I don't get it.
  9. Depends if what we read here is porn or not. Visual porn I haven't done in 2½ years. I've considered watching some lately though.
  10. The numbers of injured is up towards 400 now. Mostly from the shockwave and debris. Light cuts and cuncussions. It's scary. But luckily it was in the outskirts in Russia. What if it was in NYC and it hit one of the skyscrapers? Are skyscrapers built to be meteorite impact-proof? But it raises the issue of how to deflect or protect ourselves from meteorites in the future? Apparently sending Bruce Willis and co. to it and set off nuclear explosions won't work. For awesome blog post and if you're not already following Bad Astronomy, you should. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=4ZxXYscmgRg#! Dashboard camera showing the meteor falling from the sky. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=b0cRHsApzt8 Heart is pounding after hearing the loud BANG.
  11. Nope. But I'd start a coup and put this pill in the drinking water!
  12. I was flying to JFK from Stockholm. Just before landing, the plane took a huge gust of wind and turned sideways. You could see the tarmac from the right-side windows. It was maybe 100-200 meters to ground. Thankfully the pilot could steer it back levelled and land. Was so frightening, my heart was ready to jump out of my chest. When getting off the plane the pilot and the stewardess looked a bit distressed as well. But kept everything cool.
  13. I'll probably do #9 and #10. #11 I haven't done in 2½ years now.
  14. Happy single's awareness day. *waves flag*
  15. Is the deluxe version worth it?
  16. Another sound strategy is to just keep all your units on madagascar or something and then go out on a victory spree later in the game.
  17. They're so cute together. Makes my heart melt (or bleed?)
  18. I've been obsessing about this song for a while now. It's my most played song on my spotify playlist. They've been able to encapture Fleetwood Mac's sound quite spot on.
  19. The swedish crown princess Victoria handed out the award for this year's HBT personality at this year's QX Award (it's like an award show for the gay community of Sweden) last night. My mind is blown. It just shows how far along we've come...
  20. Taxes are high, but we get a lot of things cheaper. Healthcare (dental included), education system is free. Etc. I'm still young, so not sure what all my taxes go to, but my monthly expenses is not very high.
  21. I would say that Sweden is HBT-equal. At least if you compare with large cities like Stockholm. I am unsure how it is in smaller villages in rural Sweden though. My ex boyfriend was very open about his sexuality and he lived in a small town of 200 people. We could hold hands in public and hug and everything! (although PDA wasn't big for either of us). Sweden's so liberal that Fred Phelps has taken it upon himself to make a quite elaborate website dedicated to why God hates Sweden. We're not there yet. At least with polygamy. At least in my mind.
  22. Euthanasia isn't legal in Sweden yet. But there was a brief debate about it. Not sure if it will pass anytime soon. I think you might be thinking of Switzerland. But we do have a quite succesful medical system. It's still debatable if the educational and government system is up to par. As a teacher at the university I've often asked myself "Why am I still going through basic concepts that they should've picked up in high school?" We have come far in equality in the LG( letters. It's just the T that's lagging behind. Sometimes I think we've become too accomodating since there was some right wing politician (remember that right wing swedish is still a lot more left wing than the liberals are) wrote a debate article recently about maybe polygamy would not be such a bad idea after all...
  23. I think it's very nice. And humerous. Especially in the beginning when she's watching a cooking show and the chef cuts the zuccini in half. I don't think that the movie was stereotyped at all. It was very contemporary for Sweden (Avicii's from Sweden). A lot of focus on GLBT politics is now directed towards the transgendered and transsexuals. I'm not sure how big the media has reached foreign press, but Sweden recently abolished the 'mental illness' classification (2010). There also used to be rules for those that wished to do a sex reassignment surgery. You'd have to have been a swedish citizen, unmarried as well as sterile. The first two rules were removed 2010 and 2012 but the part about being sterile was a big debate last year. You would hear at lunch rooms and cafés how people would debate wether it was right or wrong for there to be such a rule... But as of 10th of January 2013 that law is now obsolete. Link to All Out's online petition that was for the descrimination of transsexuals in Sweden. The song is nice too.
  24. I am obsessed with this song.
