    Chapter 30

    Mage force field?

    Chapter 23

Slow clapping above them got their attention. Standing on a rock ledge, Huntington looked down at their entourage, sneering as he mocked them. “How touching. What a shame. We were so damn close. My soldiers in Texas had better luck.” Did Huntington’s men lie to him? Or was he assuming success?

    Chapter 23

Hmm. And here I thought Asa would ease some of their aches when the battle was over.

    Chapter 22

I don’t know, man … Huntington is rich and has had time to build up something unexpected and nasty. I’m not talking about just the monsters, either. He probably has turncoats in place, at the least. I’m the most worried about Enya. She’s only one person. I hope there are other fighters with flamethrowers as backup and to help her. My favorite part of the plan is Elijah, et al shape shifting all over the place to confuse people. I just hope one of the good guys doesn’t hurt them by mistake.

    Colin 5

TBH I half expect the mother to whine one time too many times about not being able to care for the house on her own for Colin to loudly announce that maybe it’s time for her to move into an assisted living place. Or, that Miles and his family have a perfectly good spare room. She has no idea how close she is to fucking up and finding out. And I love it.

    Chapter 19

I think Caleb escaped because he wasn’t close enough to Asa to be grabbed in whatever trap his mate was snagged in. And don’t forget that Asa is also a wolf shifter, so even if the light side *required* actual light to keep him alive (which I doubt), the rest of him would be fine without it. I agree with the commenter who said Caleb should go ahead and tell Vann the truth. I mean, they’ll have to wait for something to happen in Russia, so he has time … I also don’t think it’ll go as bad as Caleb fears. The kid has always been drawn to him, and now he’ll know why. Plus he’s an empath. He’ll give his dad grace. (But if he’s mad for awhile, who could blame him?)

    Chapter 18

THANK YOU. I was appalled. Edited to add: I first posted this when I was on page 2 of the comments. Now that I’ve seen them all, I’m in the minority re: Huntington being involved in the families holding off on getting their kids cured. I think the parents are douchebags on their own. I worry that Asa will be experimented on during captivity. His powers used for good could just as easily be used for evil. Also, who the hell are Puck and Brioc? I’m drawing a blank.

    Colin 4

“Colin was beginning to realise that she didn't like him having too much life apart from family. He kept quiet and let things ride.” Selfish cow. Families like this really piss me off. Mom and bro are in for a rude awakening. Everyone is entitled to live their life.

    Chapter 16

It’s cracking me up, how many people are making Corbin an insta-dad. The man just wants to get laid!
  10. Actually, he still does. It’ll take months for everything to go through probate. Oh, she’s a homophobe alright. If she didn’t want to witness sex she’d just get the place a heavier curtain.

    Colin 3

While I agree that Colin should talk to the crew about professionalism and acceptable conversations, I don’t think he’s a coward. He’s scared. His family is a collection of selfish assholes but they’re all he’s got, other than the choir. And his business is still new and building its reputation. But considering the type of growth the area is experiencing, it’s becoming more cosmopolitan, and less … provincial? So he can come out when he’s ready and probably not lose much business. And he can always find more workers if this crew doesn’t want to work for a “shirt lifter” (never heard that term until today). Colin’s fear is understandable, and he IS slowly overcoming it. I think he’s brave, actually. Owain is exactly what he needed to change his life for the better in multiple ways. Also? Five bucks says Jimmie is the one who discovers Colin’s secret and effin tells everyone. 🙄

    Chapter 15

I immediately thought of Corbin. He seems the nurturing type and might want another chance to raise a shifter, now that he has access to the knowledge needed. And in Giles’s pack, the pup would have plenty of shifter “uncles” as role models. As for the parents, maybe they didn’t want the responsibility of raising a “broken” pup. I’m sure there are some ain’t shit shifters just like there are ain’t shit humans. Hope you fully recover soon, @kbois!

    Chapter 27

It was gratifying to read what was going through Seth’s mind after he left his house. The feeling of not belonging anywhere is so real. Once again, Seth’s parents do a piss-poor job of communicating with him, lol! I’m still thinking about how Jim said in the last chapter that he got tired and gave up fighting for custody of his kids. And if that wasn’t horrible enough, he then only lived 15 minutes away! I live in the Bay Area of California and I’ve run into people I know from a different STATE. How have they not seen each other at the grocery store or mall? I’m side-eyeing Jim big time 👀 Amber: Bitch, you couldn’t call anybody? It’s hard to believe this has all gone down since Saturday. I would think more than a week had passed.

    Chapter 13

What an uplifting chapter! The quiet before the shitstorm. I’m worried the most about Asa. Dude is a miracle worker — you think Huntington or someone else isn’t salivating at the money and power that could come with having him harnessed? Or worse: experimented on to be replicated? He and Caleb need to be protected. Hopefully, someone will act on that soon.

    Chapter 26

No the hell they can’t! We at least gotta see Seth’s dad cuss out his mom.

    Chapter 11

Yes, it was a blinding, laser-like light to make the scar. Oops, nevermind. Already answered.

    Chapter 11

Um, does this mean the quartet didn’t inherit Kage’s ability to make people sick? It’s a fantastic weapon. I’m just sayin’.
  18. Why not legally change his name to Jeremy Berger instead?

    Howloween 1

It’s so cool to see this new story in the series! Thank you for continuing with the characters. I’m surprised that Trevor, Skyler and Randy didn’t talk about these outcomes beforehand. Trevor and Skyler knew other wolves would smell them on each other, including Skyler’s parents. And in a town of 3,000, people are gonna notice who’s spending time with who. I think Randy must’ve been willfully ignoring such facts to freak out like he’s doing. Plus, he doesn’t know the power of being part of a pack yet, since he’s been a loner. I suppose that’s one of the aspcts that’ll be covered, but mainly shame on Trevor and Skyler for not foreseeing all of this and informing Randy. I thought they were smarter than this. They’ve also got plenty of folks around who probably mentioned these very issues. Also, Skyler probably (hopefully?) meant this as a joke but the victim blaming landed flat: “Trevor and I really didn’t mean to complicate your life. If you hadn’t flirted with him, and been exactly my type, none of this would have happened, so… It is kind of your own fault.” Shit timing, dude.

    Chapter 9

So glad the healing is starting, and we didn’t have to wait weeks like the characters did! A wise jump in the plot. I’m interested in what will happen with Vann. Caleb and Asa are staying in the same house, right? Looking forward to how the father-son relationship(s) shakes out.

    Chapter 25

    Very well stated.
  22. Look up Black Wall Street. Tulsa, Oklahoma. So. Steve likes girls. This begs a question: When Steve gave Ken the blow job, was it because he was curious, or because Ken forced him to? Because Ken can be a mean son of a bitch.
  23. Geemeedee

    Chapter 25

Here’s what I want to know: Do Marie and Steve know Seth’s dad still lives in the same town? And how have they never run into each other??
  24. Nice action, but this entire story I’ve felt like we were dropped into the middle and are supposed to know what’s going on. Some foundational information provided in the first chapters would have been better than this learning as we go. As it stands, we have no idea why the Arriens family was targeted. Also, we’ve come to care for Derek’s coworkers, and to kill them off without showing how they responded to the bad guys coming in, or how they felt about their situation, or if they we’re plotting how to escape or anything like that, is not only a missed opportunity, but discounts the characters’ importance to Derek and the reader. And finally, the lack of emotional response from any of the characters to events is unsettling. In particular, Jeremy’s boss was a like a father to him and he showed no emotion about his death (or if he even knew he was dead).

    Chapter 8

Speaking of, I wonder if Caleb has been feeling the effects of the poison that was administered before, or if he is still being poisoned. I’m relieved that Asa and Caleb gained each other’s ability. Asa has been so confident that he can heal the hybrids without even meeting them that I feared he would lose his healing ability once the two bonded. I’m still not comfortable with how certain he is.
