Is it just me or did Hollywood take the summer off?
Kitt replied to JamesSavik's topic in The Lounge
It's that vicious circle thing - we don't go because the movies are not that good, so they put less money and effort in, so the movies go from mediocre to bad, so we go less... -

[Sasha Distan] Direct Confusion

Bottom line is I don't even think Sasha gets to make the decision. It is really up to the voices in that over crowded head of his! Best we can hope for is that I have a little bit of sway with them. They do at least listen, but it is yet to be seen if I can actually influence them!- 267 replies

[Sasha Distan] Redemption's A Bitch
Kitt replied to Sasha Distan's topic in Promoted Author Discussion Forum
I am not sure several years would qualify as "promptly". Kier lived up to his promise for a long time. That is not an easy thing to do when the promise was to give up something that is a central part of your life, your lifelong dream. It's one thing to lose your dream to a career ending injury like Brian did. In Kier's case he is quite capable of continuing to race, but gave it up because a near miss frightened his cousin. That is a pretty big sacrifice to make. I've been involved on the fringes of the racing game ( stock cars as opposed to bikes but the mentality is the same). Most of the drivers I know would look at you like you grew 3 extra heads if you even hinted they should give it up. Perhaps your friend was using the smoking as a measure of how much someone cared for him? I would bet if the date in question didn't ask him to quit, or at least not smoke around them, the relationship didn't last too long. I think smoking is a tad different tho. While it can be a debilitating addiction, I don't think I have ever met a little one who at 5 yrs old said "I want to grow up to be a smoker." but have met dozens of them who wanted to grow up to be "Just like Bill Elliot". -
[Sasha Distan] Direct Confusion

Ummm - when did we decide that a) Sasha was writing that sequel, and that the guys would all be wearing kilts? I thought the whole thing was still up for discussion. I have to be honest with you - Sasha is not real big on sequels. This one and Born Wolf both sort of demand them though and I am encouraging him every chance I get. LOL ok - I didn't intend that smiley to be there - it was supposed to be a b )- 267 replies

At the high school level presently the coaches tend to lean toward caution in the healing of injuries but it was not always that way. We could also see an instance where a coach is pushing returning to activity before the injury is fully healed. I remember the term "Play past the pain" quite vividly. It was the worst advice my coach ever gave me.

Prompt 353 - The Anniversary
Kitt commented on Mann Ramblings's story chapter in Prompt 353 - The Anniversary
A very moving and realistic portrayal of a goodbye of this type. You captured both the need to move forward and the lack of ability of some to do so beautifully. -
Does your chapter end note mean no settlement and you are off to support the others? Dang real life getting in the way! LOL we shall all be patient **fingers crossed** Somehow I am thinking Justin is going to end up being a favorite character. I am looking forward to seeing more from him. That he could write off a thoughtless and unacceptable reference to his father being gay shows his maturity. The teacher in question should have been suspended too! It is nice to see something going right in Chads life. Seems like not much of that has been happening prior to his arrival in the burbs of the twin cities.

Mann Ramblings Priest & Pariahs
Kitt replied to Mann Ramblings's topic in Promoted Author Discussion Forum
It sort of surprises me that people have not made the connection between some of Mann's shorts/prompt responses and his longer works before this. One went on to become a part of A cooks tale, and two more to be prominent scenes in So Little Magic Left. Prompt responses have this way of evolving in Mann's mind and continuing to entertain us well past their initial posting. -

You may well be right about a career ending injury being a saving grace for Will and Zach. It would affect so much more than Zach's ability to come out of the closet. He has the trust fund Robbie left him so a scholarship is no longer "needed", and frequently football players are spoon fed the lightest course load available to maintain their player eligibility, the end result being a less than adequate education for any career outside of football. We have already seen one example where his "advisers" (his parents and that Barry person) have taken a practice clinic as more important than an internship with a noted historian in Europe.

Tim! You are NOT supposed to be giving hints about what is coming! If I had let something like that slip in one of Sasha's forums I would have been bitten! And he is a pretty non-violent wolf!

Why do we need to view Will at one extreme or the other? My father passed on to the next existence at the age of 77, and till the day he died he was the proverbial teenager. Please don't misunderstand - he was a great father and a good provider, but his outlook on life was "Growing old may be manditory, growing up is optional."
-
Lol. Maybe being an insider gives me a little peek others do not have, but I just assumed there will eventually be a confrontation with dad. And that is where I need to stop before crossing from speculation with the rest of you and hint dropping!

The pants on the ground look is dying thank god! I think due in large part to that robbery attempt in which the perpetrators pants fell as he ran out of the store, and the plus size clerk sat on him till the police arrived. -

No one likes everyone, nor should they! It would make for a very boring world indeed! Can you not like Robin and dislike Kier? Hmmm - turning Becca to puppy food - that has possibilities...although it may be difficult to get them to eat something as distasteful as Becca! -
[Sasha Distan] Redemption's A Bitch
Kitt replied to Sasha Distan's topic in Promoted Author Discussion Forum
LOL I am glad Sasha answered that one - I was just going to say that would be tattling! The wolf has much too good a set of ears! Now - as for the poor behavior of the dogs, the poor behavior of the bride to be, the poor behavior of the groom, and that of the budding couple... The dog should not have raided the basket - that is a given. Even had it not been filled with things that could potentially kill him. I would be willing to put money on the idea however that knowing choco is bad for the dogs this was the first time it was ever left within range. I am not much on chocolate ( yeah, I know - its odd for a woman not to be into choco) but even I think the smell is heavenly. The dog has been smelling this terrific stuff and suddenly there is his chance to taste. Even the best trained dogs goof once in a while. As for the "attack" - had someone grabbed me by the skin on the back of my neck and yanked - I would turn snapping and snarling too, and I am a logical adult human. The dog growling at Ash-lay was not an indication of poor training, it was the dog picking up on his masters feelings. I had a golden retriever that I only heard growl once in the 14 yrs I had him, at a salesman in to give us an estimate on a new furnace. We chose not to deal with him. He was not the best estimate, nor the worst, but I trusted the dog's evaluation of the man. Becca didn't accuse Kier of failing to control the dogs, as Tim noted. She accused him of trying to ruin everything. That's a huge leap, assuming that Kier set the dog out to destroy wedding favors. Ok - So maybe Becca will eventually be living in the house. She does not as yet. What gives her the right to make decisions on who does live there, and what pets he may own? The home IS Kierans, NOW, and if anyone had a right to say get out it would have been him when she demanded his dogs be removed. She has let herself into Kieran's private spaces already. She obviously feels entitled to go where she wants and do what she wants regardless of boundaries, so keeping the dogs to Kierans portion of the house would be ineffectual. The shit would have hit the fan in my home a long time ago - the first time I caught her entering my private areas. Shastan needs to grow a set. Kieran has been living with him since he was 15 yrs old, the better part of a decade. (Just how old IS Kier Sasha?) Had someone come into my home, make free with my private space, then accuse my only living relative, who also lives there, of trying to ruin her little world and demand he and the dog(s) be removed, the only thing removed would have been her, by the collar and the seat of her britches. I have in fact escorted in-laws from my home in this manner so believe me when I say it would happen! And in fact Kier did apologize for the incident. Did Becca? So - it is now ok to go into someones home and toss them and their pets out on the street because you don't like them or the pets? Becca not only over reacted, she acted as though she has rights she does not! The person I feel the worst for is Robin. How would you like to have a sister who arbitrarily seems to hate your newest love interest, says and does everything she can to be mean to the man, and does not respect you enough to let you make your own decisions? Talk about being caught between a rock and a hard place! -

Kieran may only be starting to realize it, but he does have meaningful things in his life. Let's start with Robin and Shastan, the dogs, Calle and her children, the bikes and racing, and the people that go with it like Brian and his wife.
