  1. Ok - when one says a serious cheat and a series counts as one book, would that mean David Eddings' Belgariad and Malorean series are one set or two? Each is a five book set all involving the life and times of the same set of characters. And would the support books he later published be included in the "set"? That would make the difference between 5 actual physical books and 12 listed as Eddings. Assuming all books involving the same characters are "one": Belgariad/Mallorian David Eddings Wheel of Time series Robert Jordan The Dragons of Pern series Ann McCafferty The Dirk Pitt series Clive Cussler The Sword of Truth series Terry Goodkind Edit to include: Does anyone else note a thread of escapism in the book lists?
  2. Hair can be a very contentious issue in a relationship. Parents and children fight regularly over the length of a boys hair, at least they did when I was growing up. I have dated people who have made statements like "I'll break up with you if you cut your hair." One did in fact walk away when i had 1/2 an inch cut off to remove split ends when my hair was over two foot long. I always wondered what the gang thought when I cut it from the 2 foot+ length to super short ( ears showing for the first time in a decade). No one had the nerve to say anything other than "WOW! It looks nice that way." Some heads of hair have personalities of their own right from the scalp out. Mine will lay flat when I want it to curl, stand on end the day of a big social event and generally just test my patience no matter what length I am wearing it on any given day!
  3. I think you might be able to add JJ to that freak out!
  4. Their papa's and the kilts - can't very well expect the pups to wear something pop and daddy don't now can we?
  5. Because you can't resist and it is only a matter of time before you go back and finish the story.
  6. Thanks DDK - Having the relative ages of the main characters helps the visualization. If any one else is interested this makes Able III and Dennis both 23 Able Jr and Kade both 60 Able Sr 94 Drew 93 Uncle Kevin 59 Aunt Margo 57 Steven 22 William 19 Here is to being that vibrant and active at Able Sr's age!
  7. **Gets a water proof cover for Tim's keyboard, orders a case of paper toweling, and puts down a dropcloth.** There, now you can all talk about kilts, and little soccer, footballers and cheerleaders!
  8. If you have told us in the story perhaps it got lost in this mess I call a memory, but what year is the story taking place? The relative ages of the main characters would be a good thing to keep in mind as the story progresses.
  9. LOL Why didn't you ask? I would have told you I had googled most of em already! Of course we want to see the places Russel is seeing for the first time. Some of us live voyeuristicly through stories!
  10. ** Pictures people bouncing back and forth between pretty pictures**
  11. Oh Good Lord! I forgot Nano is coming! ** orders in a large supply of caffeinated products and makes an appointment for new eyeglasses**
  12. No creepy light Dughlas. My point was that people were getting hung up on no intimacy between man and wolf. I think intimacy is much much more than just sexual desire!
  13. The author of that story is no longer affiliated with GA and all of his works have since been taken down.
  14. Sorry ladies and gents! No - it was not a barn emergency that kept me from playing. Unless that is you consider me taking a day off to hide my migraine in a cool dark quiet room an emergency. Actually - most of the others at the barn did! Now that the boys are happily getting started on their ever after, I can voice my opinion on what might happen in the future - seeds I have already planted in Sasha's furtile little head. I can soooooo see Luke and Erie 5 or so years down the road - back to their home town after graduation from Rutgers. working in their chosen fields and considering how they wish to become parents. I even made a suggestion to Sasha how I think their first born should come to them, but giving that away might turn out to be tattling! Note - i said first born - I can picture them ( and of course Uncle Jameson and his lady) with a whole passel of kids between em!
  15. Ok guys - time to back off the bestiality thing and think for a moment. Aren't the boys sharing all the little things now? And much more? Oli is teaching Boris to cook and read - how to work things like refrigerator doors and water faucets while in fur. Boris is teaching Oli how to not be alone, to enjoy the simple pleasures like running on the beach and rolling in the grass. They are always together - near if not actually touching. They have the life a lot of us want - even if they do wear fur on opposite schedules!
  16. I think a lot of people have been in similar situations, on both sides of this particular fence. Sometimes a parent HAS to over react a bit to get a point across, and then back off a little after things calm down. Thank you for a realistic portrayal of a difficult situation. Alex being gay was not really the point of the story. His disregard of the rules, and his lack of trust in his father were. Every parent has had to deal with this on some level, and I think you wrote it very realistically. I also have no doubt that once dad calms down they will talk again and things will improve. If Alex and Bart are smart boys they will embark on a campagne to do things like clean up Alex's room and make themselves pests with the thoughtful "I'm here and will be home at..." phone calls!

    The Ditch Prompt 348

Unfortunately we all have lived one part or another of this one. Thank you.
  18. Mint sauce...anything like mint jelly?
  19. Starting off with character sketches always seems to end in very interesting stories, IMO. It lets the character take on a life of his own. Warning - some of the authors I have worked with who write this way have found the characters tend to take over the story and their fingers have a bit of a hard time keeping up with the typing! They begin to demand attention at all hours of the day and night!
  20. I went to highschool with a paraplegic - his lap most certainly WAS comfy!

    The Ditch Prompt 348

Fair winds and following seas make for boring fiction! I am glad you enjoyed!

    Any Port in a Storm

That was one of the weird parts. Not only did he keep it clean - we have no clue WHY he did. Thanks for reading and taking the time to review!
  23. And while Tiff may prop him up and support him emotionally as well as in capacity as his coach, it just ain't the same as having a parent stand behind you!

    Symbols

Not only will the path be twisted, but I bet it will have some tire eating potholes as well! I can relate to Kendra ( being a mom) and to Roy ( being a fixer). Looking forward to what ever you have up your sleeve.
  25. Don't those bedroom doors have locks on em??? Lovely dear.
