I'm not forgetting that, I just don't think that those actions are necessarily indication of Marie's goodness. Just because Marie's fashion sense differs from the majority and she doesn't like hanging out with jocks doesn't make her a saint. If it did I would be next Mother Theresa . Taking Will into her fold could go either way, a genuine act of friendship or her own version of faction building. I know plenty of folks who are super welcoming until one does something that they disagree with; it's almost fascinating to see how quickly the metaphorical claws come out. I'm routing for Marie because I think she could have a lot of potential later on, but I am also preparing myself for disappointment because her current trajectory is concerning.

I don't agree. I too have experience with the high school girl's psyche as I was one at one time and while I appreciate your experience I have been on the receiving and giving end of the social games that teen girls play. There is a normal sense of entitlement, which comes from being pretty and rich, and then there is a complete disregard for anyone else's feelings. Marie has exhibited the latter. She insomuch as lied to her parents about apologizing to Will, and when given the chance blew it off as not having a chance. Think about it that stunt with Noah, that was just a mean bitch move, she had to have known he would find out even if she didn't think he would go to the dance after she turned him down. I don't accept her age as an acceptable reason to treat people like shit. I'm not willing to call Marie a sociopath but a person (female or male) who can't acknowledge her own fallibility and blames others for her issues isn't just a bitch, she's on a slope to being a really awful person.

Fun little chapter that leaves me wondering if this is the calm before the storm.

In the spirit of not writing Marie off completely, I wonder if like Will and the "I love you...uh wait maybe not" debacle with Tony, it will take Marie going through a similar experience before she has that moment of clarity like Will did and realizes the impact of her actions. Although her dramatic home antics and subsequent plotting with Ferris leave me to wonder about Marie's true redeem-ability. Will could always pull a Brad move and sexually neutralize Ferris, but honestly I have more faith in Will to take the high road and let Marie's own selfishness be her downfall (her behavior leads me to ponder if she's actually the hell child mix of Amber, Cole's "fake tittied" bitch girl friend from Bloodline, and Bitty). Just my thoughts as I recoup from my family invasion.

What a lovely yet bittersweet goodbye. Are you sure we can't have Will just decide to move to Maui full time and call it happily ever after? The mea-culpa-palooza was also a crafty way to clear the slate with some of Will's family members (yay Stef for getting it) and Erik (nice surprise). No doubt the emotional maturity and generosity that Will is currently exhibiting will only serve as fuel for Marie's resentment. I wonder how far she will fall before she takes responsibility for her own dishonorable behavior? As usual thank you .

Will has really come into his own lately, I liked how he broke his feelings down for Robbie so Robbie wouldn't think Will was being a petulant little snit about not wanting Brad to come to Hawai'i. His generosity to Kai doesn't surprise me; he has always had a very strong sense of helping those he cares about that are less fortunate. It just hasn't always worked out like in the case of Pat his ex-guard/driver. Nice interlude on the way to the big family dinner. Thanks.

Whew! I was hoping Isidore's request was driven by Frank and not other less pleasant reasons which inspired dread. Hope came out the winner, Hooray! It was really touching that Isidore was concerned about resolving family cohesiveness with JJ, Will and Marie getting their symbolic rings back and refreshing to hear that she and Claire are concerned about Marie. Also nice that Jeanine seems to be making strides despite last chapter's drama. So Tony...I wonder if the sex will still be as magical now that Will knows what Tony is like? Or is Will's consternation an early warning that Tony ends up as Will's quasi Robbie like relationship (the guy Will ultimately ends up with because he challenges Will in just the right way in spite of the heartache said guy causes)? Is that dread I feel? As always thank you for you truly awe inspiring work.

So many family/cast members it felt like when I met my extended family for the first time . I loved the look into JP family and the formality of his parents compared to warmth of Vella, Sam, and Tonto. Thinking about Steven, too bad they don't have thank you cards for things like teaching one to masturbate; I suspect they'd do pretty well in certain niche markets . I'd forgotten that Frank is the first Hayes boy we actually meet. Great stuff thanks.

Okay the Martin parents are officially on the my evil creeps list. In fact I created it just for them. You have definitely put me on the edge with this chapter, which is as awesome as it is stressful. Okay, I have admit it...so do I . Even though I am not passionate about Isidore one way or the other, I do see your point. IMO many of CAP's female characters tend to be more archetypes than anything else. I suspect this has more to do with the POVs being men who are focused on their relationships with other men than any intentional slight against women. There are a few examples where we get to see more, like Tonto in The Box, but overall the CAP women aren't flushed out to the extent of their male counterparts. So I see the anti Isidore sentiment as more as it's easy to be extreme one way or another with archetypes, because they lack any of the details that make them more empathetic characters and not a symptom of latent (or blatant) misogyny amount the readers. If I'm wrong, then I'm in the wrong forum for sure. I love the CAP universe but as it's a story predominantly about gay men (with some bi guys thrown in for flavor) it's not where to go to get one's Girl Power on .

Chapter 55 out so soon after 54, I must have been very good in a past life . Excellent chapter, I love how you seamlessly worked Granger into a pivotal role while introducing a little drama with Captain Barry. It was also a treat to hear from Simon again . News from home was nice, too bad about Caroline if it's true. Yikes about Granger's nephew/son(?); I can't imagine having Freddie and Davina as parents. As alway my everlasting gratitude for such a kick ass story.

Jeanine playing the concerned parent would be believable until the court found out she sent the photos to the skating organization. Even family court would scoff at the idea she was so concerned about her promiscuous son that she had pictures taken of him and was so worried that she shared them with the skating officials to have the skater who was with promiscuous son, one who happens to be a competitor of yet another son, kicked out of the sport. I am also pretty confident that once the court found out about the pictures of JJ, she and Michael would be in a big heap of trouble for child pornography. Even if she had nothing to do with Michael photographing JJ (which I find almost impossible to believe) enough doubt can be cast on her by claiming if she let a pedophile photograph one son, why wouldn't she let him photograph the other. I struggle with blaming Brad entirely for the bad blood between Will and Jeanine. She owns a lot of the damage with her attitude towards Will. It seems to me she took her frustration with Brad out on Will and that's a shifty way to parent and it's no surprise that Will doesn't trust or respect her. She hasn't shown any respect for Will or even made an effort to meet him half way. Jeanine can start asserting her maternal rights when she steps up and starts acting like a real mother, until then she's no better than Bitty in my opinion (and we all know how much Brad and Jeanine respected Bitty's maternal rights when it came to Darius and JJ). Finally, you absolutely right... no one likes the French .
