    can'ttype

Was the thumb thing caused by a cat bite? Whatever, 'twas highly entertaining to read. More like a message in code, really. Get better soonest! Camy
  3. Not a phrase but a stanza from the Edward FitzGerald Translation of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. To me it encapsulates everything. Apposite for writers too The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ, Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line, Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.
  4. 'The Groupie' ... uh ... rocks! Camy
  5. My boyfriend saying how much he loves me. Oh yeah! Camy

    I need advice . . .

Falling for your best friend is either the best thing that'll ever happen to you, or the worst. Ultimately friendship is FAR more important than risking losing said friend because of hideously awkward embarrassment. Congrats on the contract. Definitely get a lawyer to look it over. If you won't ask your Dad (??!!) I'd PM Mark_Marciano who is a lawyer, I believe ... I think I read his brother is an entertainment lawyer, too. Camy
  9. Congratulations CJ, you rock! Camy
  10. 'The butterflies in my stomach were on Ecstasy.' A peachy line, and one of many. This reminds me of EleCivil, which is a frightening thought, 'cause the universe will probably cease to be if there are two of you ... or two FishWings for that matter. Hmm. Fish need two wings to fly. Anyway, a cracking good chapter. Thanks. Camy
  11. Wow! This is not an easy topic to approach unless you've had experience of it, which, thankfully I haven't. From three strong writers come three totally different takes, which was only to be expected. I read them in order. Yaalc's 'A Special Chemistry' first. I liked it, then I hated it and was about to stop reading. I'm so glad I didn't. What a peachy twist to an excellent story. SciFi is one of my favourite genres, and this was top notch. And, I've discovered another good writer too. Graeme's 'Father's Day' came next. I've started reading all Graeme's fiction with an Australian accent Another goody. Then I never expected anything less. Finally Nick's 'A Shining Light'. What can I say? Not only do I still regularly lose my keys, but at the age of ten I was caught by my parents in an old dress, wearing high heels with make up on. I still have the photo somewhere. This collaboration was a terrific treat. Thanks all! Camy
  12. I'm a big fat zero. Neither male nor female... Hmm. Still, with company like Lugh, Graeme and Luc, I don't really care
  13. I'm hideously confused... If someone wouldn't mind writing a swift precis of the rules...

    WHAT A HECTIC WAY TO...

Yep, that's me reading. Happy thirtieth, Viv!
  15. A wonderful story, Ieshwar. I felt I was there with Jay as he suffered for his love of his family and mother - luckily she snooped and read his letter! I've never really understood Indian culture, the caste system, and the idea of arranged marriage. It's very alien to me, with the way I was brought up. Maya is a great character, and her speech at the end was spot on. Camy
  16. Total insanity.
  17. Thanks, Ieshwar, He's hesitant about love because he's hesitant about love. Some people just are, and Chris definitely is. The title 'The Car Wouldn't Start' refers to his excuse for being late to work. I've ... erm ... used it myself, more than once. Thank you so much! Heh. The real story? Who says there is one? Thanks, Jason! Graeme, the end had no special meaning. Though if it did it might possibly be - would you prefer to get work late, or spend time in your significant others arms? Thank you all for the comments!
  18. This is an intriguing story. I'm looking forward to chapter five. Thanks, Fish Wings - an odd name Camy
  19. I've just put up a new short called 'The Car Wouldn't Start' https://www.gayauthors.org/eficiton/viewstory.php?sid=364 I hope you like it! All comments will be cherished.
  20. Very well written, and enjoyable - except for the ending, which made me want to hunt you down and beat you over the head with a wet kipper. Nonetheless, thank you. Camy
  21. Shark would have got her off. He might have needed seven of nine's help, but she'd be free! Shark rules...
  22. Don't look in my direction, I have an idea, but it'll probably be wrong ... and anyway, that's what editors are for More importantly, did the guy you met at the store enjoy the peaches? Camy
  23. But surely approaching from 'upwind with a brick' would make his humour blunt? Might I humbly recommend this blog - recently ended, but very well worth reading through. http://misssnark.blogspot.com/
  24. Good point!
  25. What's a quick minute when its at home? Just asking as we Simpson-Emus get confused. I'm chuffed to bits that 'Conversation' is getting such positive reviews; as is the Muse, bless his little cotton socks. Thanks, y'all
