seems several parents were upset that their kids loved "Old Town Road" and that somehow meant he could only produce songs for kids. His response was that OTR was never appropriate for children in the first place: "i literally sing about lean & adultery in old town road. u decided to let your child listen. blame yourself." and "i thought y’all didn’t like political correctness. what happened?"

Was a long day today. Driving up to Enid and back in 48 mph wind gusts wasn't fun - esp. as my SUV is only slightly less aerodynamic than a brick. Dad's funeral is set for this Thursday at 11am.

They relate to his new single, a song to his 12-year old self, "Montero (Call Me by Your Name)" He was criticized that it wasn't appropriate for children and his response was that it was never intended for children. Nike is also filing some form of legal action concerning the shoes

Things are a bit mixed this morning (blog post explains some of that). I've got my 2nd shot, SP has his 1st; my brother and sister-in-law got their second.

Brother [M] called at 1:44am this morning. Dad -- who would have turned 100 on Oct. 7th -- had been sliding a bit but not rapidly. We expected something soon - but not this soon. He was hurting quite a bit last night so Hospice gave him what M called "a very tiny amount" of morphine just to knock the edge off the pain. Before he left they said his vital signs were really good. He hadn't been sleeping that well. The morphine allowed him to relax enough to go into a deep sleep and...just didn't wake up. Much worse ways to go (like watching mom linger for four days), and he had a long life. He'd outlived everyone except my brother and I -- all of his siblings, all of his friends. And we know he was ready to go. He's made that statement for some time. So, a lot of conflicting emotions at the moment.

Horrible day today, and tonight SP and I have a conversation w. the attorney working on our estate paperwork. <sigh> If it weren't for the medical benefits -- and the lack of other available work in this area -- I'd probably tell them to stuff it.

We found time to be together and talk about stuff. Things are much improved.

The joy of spring -- storm front after storm front, leaving no time for the joints to drop back to my baseline pain level. Blood pressure tonight was 142/90; a combination of cumulative pain and lack of sleep. And, to be honest, a feeling of distance between SP and I that I'm not sure where comes from.

Not been around a lot - or at least posting a lot - but hope everyone is doing well. Think SP and I are on the downhill side of the medical issues, but they keep bringing things up they should have mentioned weeks ago. <sigh>

At least he apologized later.

Took SP in for his thyroid treatment this afternoon. They failed to tell us until this afternoon that he can't be in close contact w. anyone (or anything - like our dog) for the next three days. Had to get paper plates and disposable utensils & cups for him. Will be sleeping in different rooms. Keeping Little Girl away from him will be the hardest.

Some people are only happy when everyone else is miserable.

Everything went well this morning. Took forever, but went well. Now it's just time and healing.

We're going from 45 F below normal a few days ago to 20 F above normal today -- then dropping 30 F+ over the next two days. Hips are already not happy. SP has hernia surgery this morning. Send us good thoughts.

We have an additional 5-1/2" of snow this morning on top of the 6"-8" of snow we got the last round, and could get another1" before it's over. At least the temp this morning is above 0F. Power grid is below the critical level, so there hopefully won't be any rolling blackouts [ahem, "controlled service interruptions"] today like there have been in some areas the last few days. The sky last night at around 11:30pm was beautiful though -- it was bright. Like full moon w. a clear sky bright. Lights were reflecting off the snow on the ground and the thick clouds above. No wind, and SP said it was extremely quiet when he stepped outside for the last time to let our furry child go potty before bed.

@Ryan Jones - hope the testing goes ok This morning was the lowest temp in 122 years in Oklahoma City; the high yesterday was colder than the previous record low. Issues with natural gas wells freezing up, increased demand for both gas an electric (most of the plants around here use gas to make electric) has them threatening rolling blackouts in about half the country. They sent out an update yesterday that it's possible we could have, "service interruptions" w/o any forewarning.

"The Southwest Power Pool (SPP) has implemented Level 3 of its energy emergency plan." Seems there is a shortage of CNG plus increased load and that's causing problems w. the grid. Almost had rolling blackouts here but they were cancelled at last minute -- but may come back.

Campus is "virtual" today, so no day off for me or hubby. Wind chill this morning is -20F.

Snow started last night, and the wind has picked up this morning -- snow could end up being less than they originally thought, but the wind-chill will still be harsh (-13F at the moment, but expected to get worse). My brother called yesterday to say that his furnace went out overnight Friday. He woke up to a 60F house. They have a fireplace and a couple of electric heaters and are able to keep the living room warm enough -- for now.

University announced this morning that they will be going virtual (including staff working from home) and not closing, "in case of inclement weather". The other Uni in state IS closing and giving staff Administrative Leave.

Another example, from a University in this state. A student during the middle of the COVID lockdown and classess all online, away from family and not able to physically gather w. her friends, contacted University Health Services for counseling for depression -- there was a three month wait list. Edit: the largest mental health facility in this state is the Joseph Harp Correctional Center in Lexington

We're going to get hit this weekend, Sunday night into Monday morning. Dry light fluffy snow -- 10" to 15" of it here, more in the NW part of the state. Old record for days below freezing was 13 and we'll probably break it. Don't remember when that was but the last 11-day record was in 1983, so before that.
