Final Goodbyes and Continued Beginnings

We had the internment for my mom yesterday morning -- just my brother and I, our SO's, and my last surviving Aunt. My brother surprised both SP and me by asking if we wanted to go somewhere for lunch. Had a nice meal without any awkward silences, so that was nice. Maybe -- maybe -- he's changing some. But then just a couple of weeks ago when he stopped by to sign mom's life insurance paperwork he never even turned off the car. Doesn't seem like it's been almost 12 month's since SP and I had our first date, sending us down this road of our new relationship. He's said that there are doors opening in his heart he's kept closed for quite some time. Love him so much. -
We're about 10F above normal today, and will be about 10F below normal tomorrow. Joints don't like autumn.

well, I haven't killed the incompetent computer tech yet, even though he's wasted my entire morning. So far, he's cost me 3-1/2 days of work time.

Cold front has moved in. It's dropped 20 F in the last 4 hours and the wind is howling; unfortunately, so are my joints.

Gone for a day and there were 4 pages of conversation I missed. Good news is the scan came back clean yesterday, they didn't find anything, don't have to do it again for 10 years, and can -- most importantly -- start taking my anti-inflamitory again so that my joints can quit screaming at me.

Simple recipe is: 2 tbsp. ground cinnamon 2 tsp. ground ginger 1 tsp. ground cloves 1 tsp. ground allspice 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg

We had a "small" gas-line explosion in OKC last night. An entire neighborhood was w/o power due to precautions. Scary when you know how old some of the gas mains in larger cities -- esp. those on the East coast -- are.

I have to say, this sums up a loving relationship for me -- taking the time to research and make your partner a special version of something they wouldn't otherwise be able to eat; and appreciating that your partner took the time to do that for you.

Yep - grew up in a small town and still live in one that, although it's a University town, isn't that big. The town I grew up in is just as hostile and unaccepting of those who are differnt now as it was when I was in high school 30+ years ago.

Looks like it could make landfall as a Cat 2. Having the owner and manager there all weeks sounds like a nightmare - good luck and stay sane.

I found a description of it, along w. a comment that it was bulldozed w/o them ever contacting Engle [the sculpter] to see if he wanted to move it or to even inform it of its destruction, but no images of it. [A shallow bowl held aloft by four naked men - like "Atlas holding the world on his shoulders times four" - in an Art Deco style.]

long long day drive up wasn't as bad as it could have been - the fog started lifting about halfway there; no family drama over SP sitting next too me [heck, the funeral dir. had it figured out in about 5 minutes the first day we met him] took a nap once we got home; had a full-blown panic attack during the middle of trying to make supper because my brain is apparently so fried it can't keep track of what should have been a relatively easy recipe to make

Day is starting w. 1/2 mile visibility here, and 1/4 mile visibility where I'm going -- normally about 80 minutes away. Going to be a fun drive. ☁️ Edit: gained enough weight working from home my suit slacks don't fit.

Not ready for tomorrow, but know it has to be done. Will hopefully be able to get some sleep tonight.

Temp here dropped 20F in an hour when the front moved through late yesterday afternoon. We're about 15F below normal this morning -- but at least, now that the front is here, I'm not hurting like I have been the last couple of days. Hope everyone has a good day.

Also, "Well bless his/her heart." -- the unspoken bit is, "because they're lying who are going to hell". Usually said by older, proper southern women who would never curse in public.
