The "Drag Queen Christmas" was generally quite fun, even though the "meet and greet" was more of "get your picture in 10 seconds and move on". One of the unexpected benefits of getting the VIP tickets (only because they were the only decent ones left) was being able to get there at 6pm -- and hour before general admission opened up. That let us miss the {censored} protesters that were outside at 7pm. Were quite a few police, and at least two cop cars there at all times. Trying to make sure none of the idiocy got too out of hand. The cold also made sure they had all left by the time the event ended. Evening at the hotel was WONDERFUL! Both had a really good nights sleep. It was nice evening, and even nicer to have some much-needed time together, just the two of us.

Going to be a long couple of weeks. SP and I are taking off Thursday and Friday this week to go see, "A Drag Queen Christmas" -- right after a cold front moves through dropping the temps to below normal [guess that will make it feel like xmas ]; then next week we're off on Friday through Jan. 2nd for the Winter Break. Lots for both of us to get done before the end of the semester.

As it was just the two of us, for Thanksgiving SP and I just cooked two turkey thighs, cooked nestled on top of the mushroom stuffing. Turned out pretty good.

Today is SP's and my 2nd anniversary. Unfortunately, he has to work most of the day. We'll try to go out tonight -- if we can find a decent place open on a Sunday evening -- and we have out "anniversary wedding tier cake" which the baker made fresh a couple of days ago so it's not a freeze-dried husk no one actually wants to eat.

Spent way too much at LeCreuset lol -- but they had a huge markdown and we picked up several pieces we didn't already hve.

Story overall was ok, but the message of inclusiveness was negated by the continuous derogatory comments about anyone who is not, "straight acting" -- derisive comments on effeminate men, masculine women, and drag performers ["gender issues"??? Seriously??]; dismissive comments on large sub-sets of the gay population. Author obviously has issues with internalized homophobia.

Thanksgiving was pretty good, but just SP and I; made a few new things that all turned out pretty good. Giving into insanity and driving down to the City for Black Friday sales this morning [shudder]

High here yesterday barely got above freezing -- almost 30F below normal. Low this morning is 22F. At least it will warm up to around 40F or a bit more today.

Yes. Ours is overnight on Monday. We went from 20F above normal for a morning low on Thursday to almost 30F below normal for the high today.

Well, the true nature of the antagah was a bit of a surprise, but makes sense. Given the desert environment, and their size, I picture the "tors" more as buttes or mesas.

The "witch" seems like an interesting character to meet.

Mother had a similar story about taking my brother to the bank when he was a teen. Teller basically said something to the effect that the funds in the account [of a TEENAGER mind] wasn't worth her time to bother fixing whatever the problem was. The person line behind mom heard this, and calmly informed the teller that my brother's account might not be worth her time but he could guarantee his was -- and that if that was how they treated other customers, he would be changing banks. [Edit: typo]

One week from tomorrow is the 4th anniversary of C's death. It's hitting me harder than normal this year -- then I start to feel guilty about morning C while I have SP by my side. 😢

I was going to say the same thing: having a Dr. that doesn't let their ego get in the way of saying, "Doc. #2 is better" an THEN go to the hassle of getting and apt. for you 'squeezed in' two months earlier than otherwise is a great thing.

Homecoming is this weekend. Time to hide inside (if possible) and avoid the chaos and crowds. SP had to go in to work this evening. It's either going to be dead, because everyone will be at walkaround (think parade in reverse -- the "floats" are stationary constructs and everyone walks about looking at them, instead of staying in one space and watching them pass by -- upside to this [?] is that the displays can be HUGE); OR it's going to be crazy busy because the weather is good (we broke record highs today, after breaking record lows two days ago) and everyone is going to want to grab things for cookouts / tailgaiting.

Well... that's an application of squish I'd not considered -- and one that would have MASSIVE implications on their society. An entire race w. a passive sense of the universe around them, able to sense (among other things, probably) the truth / sincerity of those they were speaking with? No lying, no deceit, no bluffing. Would make interactions with others interesting too. Forget the episode, but in ST:TNG there is one w. Troi's mother, where she is complaining about the duplicity of humans -- even to ourselves -- and how being a telepathic race prevents the lying we do so routinely it's unconscious.

Definitely save #2 for the last resort. Hope the 2nd opinion gives you better options.

Very interesting start to the story -- and nice to have one from the perspective of characters often absent from the main stories.

Oh.... there's several. The 7-word sentence who's meaning changes depending upon which word is emphasized: "I didn't say he stole my money." "I didn't say..." [someone else did] "I didn't say..." [never made that statement] "I didn't say..." [I just strongly implied it] "..he stole my money." [it was someone else] "...he stole my money." [he just 'borrowed' it without asking] "...he stole my money." [it was someone else's money] "...he stole my money." [he left my $$ alone, but took something else] Then a couple of also notorious ones one the multiple, often contradictory, meanings of a single word: "The fast boat was tied fast to the dock while the captain was fasting" "The first one won one one dollar bill." [the first participant finished was awarded a single $1bill]

Yes -- there are many people in Scotland who do not consider it a rightful part of Britain / UK. This is why the Referendum for Scottish Independence in 2014 was very hotly contested vote, and one that only lost by a 5% margin. There is pressure for another vote on Independence to occur in 2023, brought about by Brexit.
