Not sure what to say, other than sending thoughts of love, and that my heart hurts for all of you. I'm glad the two of you found your third, and that it is working out. Anxiety and depression are insidious things. It's so hard to fight against your own mind.

This has been a long afternoon. Had a dry-line move through earlier, which dropped our humidity from 70%+ to just 5%, and we've had wind gusts all day at 40 to 50 mph (with occasional gusts stronger than that). At this time, there are 36 active grass-fires in the state. All of the "Fire Warnings" have been cancelled, but there are a large number of roads closed because of the smoke. Thankfully, nothing too close to here.

I'm one of the people that don't like cilantro - normally, I swap out for parsley. I added that red pepper soup to my list. I've not made it yet, but this smokey vegetable bisque seems lovely. Love carrot cake but haven't made it in ages.

SP and I are now the owners of 5-acres of land just outside of town. Hopefully, we'll be able to get it cleared, get utilities hooked up, and get the house built -- at some point before we retire in 12-ish years. We're probably insane, but worst case scenario is that we have property that will slowly appreciate.

Around here, Spring means: storms, hail, flooding, high winds, and tornadoes.
-
I've a feeling it would not be so benign and helpful if it sensed hostility or threat from the guys -- like some intention to just tear the building down and build something new in it's place.

Not a wood I'd want my house made of. 🙂

This is one of the things I like about the series.

Total number has increased to 11, and that could still go up as they survey sites to see if damage was from straight-line winds or tornado. They're making some drastic changes to patterns. We have the same average # of tornadoes per year, but instead of several days w. a few, we have fewer days w. several -- so instead of being spread out, they're starting to show up in large clusters.
-
It's been an interesting week here in Oklahoma. We just broke the record for the most tornadoes in February -- and did it in a single night. Everything ok here, but not around Oklahoma City

Reading some of the lists of his songs that "transcended their decade", there were many songs I hadn't realized he'd written.

We've had a very mild January this year but that's about to abruptly change. High tomorrow will be lower than the morning low today, and it will stay below freezing for 4 or 5 days. Good chance of an ice storm pretty close to us as well; hopefully it stays South.

Things are going well for us, though we've had discussions on whether we're insane to consider buying property & building a house at our age (30yr mortgage would put us in debt into our 80's) -- but there are issues with "my" house [size] and "his" house [needs gutted and re-done] that makes it worth doing. Went to a funeral on Friday. Husband of one of my classmates passed and we drove up, even though I'd not seen or spoken w. her since graduation. There were seven of the women from our class and myself -- which was almost 25% of our graduating class (small school, just 35 people). Was nice to see them, though not the best situation.

I was going to say something very similar to that. Congratulations @MichaelS36 @Mikiesboy!

But for many, it is Paradiso, and not Inferno. Wonder how many view it as Pergatorio?

Feel better soon

Merry Yule! Happy birthday tim!

4th? I've missed the 3rd

And that would be a problem because? 😏😁
-
Yep - it's happened several times, in different media - though mainly song and film.

Looks like the cold is hitting a large chunk of North America. At least we'll only spend about 80 hours below freezing here. Joints are already feeling it moving in, though it won't hit until about midnight tomorrow.

Take care of yourself, and remember that you have a loving and supportive virtual family waiting for you here if you need anything.

Not much snow expected here (just about a half-inch) but we are expected to get dangerously low wind chills. University actually went ahead and closed Thursday (when it's expected to hit) so we get an extra day of Winter Break from it.
