To be honest, I was more shocked than anything. I, obviously, thought taking someone to see the Lion King for their birthday was an awesome idea/treat. She double-pile drove me with that one.
-
I don't understand what this means? Am I missing or not understanding something? In this chapter it says, '...Aaron had smiled and appeared to be impressed. Emily, I think, was still smarting a little...' That is what I was responding to. In real time she may be history as far as this story is concerned, During this chapter though, she was not.

I love this idea. Patrick's story, like all the Sanctuary Kids, is heart breaking. He is at last in the best possible place for him. At least his future is his own.
-
When we first heard about the new/potential Sanctuary Kid who knew Jabir and Jabir knew Amir, I was really surprised when the new kid was called Patrick? Okay. So he's Irish. Full Welcome, Welcome Cards and now a Welcome Cake? That is very cool.
-
So good that Patrick is well enough to be discharged and sent home to Sanctuary. Even better is the Welcome he received from the Sanctuary Kids. I am jumping on the Team Christine train. Emily was a bad fit. I have seen nothing thus far that would exclude Christine from being a very good choice?
-
What's wrong with Bubba's Room? Does he not have a Cocoon like the Sanctuary Kids? I too think Christine will be at Sanctuary sooner rather than later. It was Emily who was not a good fit previously. What is Jeff's other job gonna be?

I have a feeling this will be my most fav Spinoff, which is exciting! Ritchie's preparatory programme is paying off. And really? Will Bender. Is he?
-
Awesome to be back in the Abello-Davenport Multiverse. I was initially a tad wary about the Spinoffs, but they have all been really good. I like that this Spinoff is about Ritchie. It is hard to see him as grown so this chapter will be good. At first I was really excited about the Air Force side of things, then thought about it. It doesn't matter the branch. It is the uniforms (Naval Summer and Service Dress Whites are my abso favs), the discipline, the haircuts, the lifestyle, the traditions (the good ones), etc. My Brother's name is Thomas. All his life we called him Tommy. Then he got older, married, etc and didn't want a kid's name anymore. He was to be called Tom. Needless to say, we still call him Tommy. Whenever we would call and ask for 'Tommy', they knew it was either myself or my Parents, cause no-one else calls him that.

D'gar please to agree to be Weyrlingmaster at Benden and no longer tied to Fort. Sad for his Mother, but its not like he still can't visit or is no longer her Son. Of course his visits may be fraught with some unpleasantness re his Benden knots. I worry about S'fyn's safety.

The Police deciding to auto-send Kids to Sanctuary is a pretty big deal in lots of ways. Brads "resources" are going to be tested sooner rather than later...
-
Jabir and his Friends reunion sounds like it will be awesome, now that he is out of his coma.
-
3B is such a good idea and Aaron is such an awesome fit.
-
I know that Tony is partially doing what he does because he loves it and he loves the Kids. They love him in return, so he is getting something out of this whole thing, relationship, etc. But can he get some in a committed relationship type love too. He so deserves it.
-
Maybe Brad potentially has a Nurse for Sanctuary?
-
I can see in the future that (dependent on funding, resources, etc ) Sanctuary would benef it's own Search And Rescue Team.

Those are pretty awesome after-seeing-the-Lion-King surprises - a signed programme, cake and a money bank. That was a lovely scene with Bubba getting his money bank. I still have my Lion King programme somewhere, I think? Wasn't signed tho. Must be about 16yrs ago now. I shouted my Cousin for her Birthday. She hated it. Said that when I initially told her I was taking her out she was hoping it wasn't to the Lion King. I was shocked LOL. I loved it!
-
Glad Brad's premonition was about something bad but ended up actually being really good in the end. Another Kid saved, another Baddie caught. 10 demerits?!?! I can't imagine you having 10 demerits Cal? I obviously don't know what rules have to be followed as an Author that contributes to this site, but it seems unbelievable that you could possibly warrant said points?

That is so sad. I can think of two scenes in my life that jumped to the fore when thinking about Danny's situation. Neither was cool. Anyone, let alone a Kid, should not feel fear like that because they hurt themselves?!?! How cray cray is that! The chapters are short, but appear very frequently i.e. two a day every day or very close to. I appreciate this way more than Authors who choose the one-or-two-chapters-a-year option.

Black socks LOL! I was Best Man at my Brother's Wedding, many years ago. I had black shoes and black socks. My Brother did not have black socks. His were white. He forgot this minute detail so asked that we swap. The gay side of me cringed, but knew I did not have a choice. When he knelt at the altar in front of the Minister, etc his pants legs would ride up. I will never forget having to wear those damned white socks. Also, if I was the Kids, I would have gone on the bus too. To see the Bus Wash Machine working from inside the bus? That would be cool.
-
So I assume Corky will end up with a bank and allowance that comes from Brad's own wallet, etc?
-
Emily was still smarting?!?! Emily should be grateful she was still in the building even being considered. The saddest, and cutest, part of this chapter was, '...I even have clean underwear on...' OMGoodness.
-
The Ignorameter just went off big time. The Kids at Sanctuary don't have time for Emily to find her true self (I am hoping for her sake she is not at that stage currently), so she needs to be gone.
-
Lets just say that after years of saving as a kiddie, my brother and my bank accounts were emptied by someone who should have known better. Back then, the amount was a hella lot for two Kids, so...I don't remember being mad. I remember being sad and telling myself that I was not doing that again.

It is good that Bubba named Sandy. I was thinking Lucky because Sandy was lucky to have been found by Bubba, etc. But thought that was a tad corny. Couldn't think of another name that I abso loved, so Sandy is good That short lived Marvin situation bothered me. It is the 31st here in little ole New Zealand. In fact there are currently 2hrs and 9mins left of 2020. Wishing Calvin and all of his Readers all the very best for the New Year. Come on January. You need to set the scene/pattern for the rest of the Year!

Well, Howdy! Aaron's Introduction
Buz commented on astone2292's story chapter in Well, Howdy! Aaron's Introduction
I both love and despise Karens. I am assuming that we must have them in New Zealand, I've just never seen one. I would love to see one to see what people would do. I would also love one to step to me just to see what I would do/say. Especially a No Mask Karen. The Karens I have seen on YouTube just defy belief. I cannot understand people. I am far from the most disciplined person I know, but I hope I have enough not to be like that in public. So far, so good. I don't know that 'old high school joke' about fish sticks. Care to enlighten me and others that also had an obviously patchy upbringing? I have not worked in retail, but I have worked face-to-face with the public. My colleagues and I never had any real horror stories that I can remember. Well, just one Lady who ended up complaining to the Mayor of our City LOL. Most of my stories revolve around cute male customers e.g. the cutest guy I ever served (Okay. I was a Librarian for 14 years) returned a book called Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee, a male underwear model came in and my heart went all a flutter until he went off because the photocopy machine ate his 20cents and he didn't get what he paid for, etc. Male underwear model went from God to Dog in a nano-second. The premise is interesting and has promise. See you in the next chapter...
