Damn! This is really good. So enjoying the re-read even though I know some of the outcome. If anything the re-read is just hitting my emotions more than ever. Some of the details I had forgotten so the reminder of them is also good and I am still held in suspense because some of those details haven't been remembered and I need to read on to be reminded again of them. Love your writing.

Have just picked up this story again and have re-read the last couple of chapters to get back into it. It is a great reminder of why I loved the story so much. You write with such a great sensitivity getting inside Jim's mind and through him helping us to see how he is responding to Jeff and falling for him. It's really good, powerful, sensitive, evocative writing. I love it and find myself falling for both these men because you make them so damned appealing from every angle. Thank you for writing.

Horrifying stuff. We lost the fun!

I am enjoying this. It is a lot of fun. I bet you had fun writing it too. Thanks for sharing it.

So interesting. I see from the earlier 2 chapters that I started reading this a while ago, but I think it freaked me out and I gave up on it. Seems I am more tolerant now and I am enjoying it a lot. I love the sense of humour! It's a lot of fun, though underlying there's also lots of anguish like the rejection by his mother and David two-timing him. What's going to happen there! David pretending to be so innocent and wanting to go slow meanwhile back at the ranch - or rather back at Brent's house!

Is this story still on going then? I was not sure but it doesn't seem to have ended, so we wait for the next chapter now. Not used to doing this as I prefer to read straight through. But I made it this far, so it is good. You do the characters well - each one to his/her weird self, a bit like we are in real life, all a bit cooked here or there. Derrick's mom is coming to life well and I like her a lot: she's a treasure.
-
Wow! That was beautifully described. Derrick's torture and anguish not knowing how to tell his mom was so real and then the reaction from her was good - nothing but shocked silence to begin with, then her declaration of love (what a great mom she is!) and then her delight in finding it was Tanner and not Joel. Quite hilarious and what a confirmation for Derrick to have his mom approve his boyfriend. What a delight! With mom and Tanner on his side how can he not go from strength to strength. A wonderfully positive tale. Well done! The only thing I agree with asshole about your writing is that you do tend to overuse words, though sometimes this tendency helps in affirming the story, it does often distract and makes the story a wade when it should be a pleasure, which it mostly is. Thanks for writing and sharing.

Did I miss something? Who is Comsie? I started the story a little tongue in cheek as the teen scene is way off my beat, but so much of the material here is in that age bracket that I have given up resisting it. However, I am enjoying and though I was so very closeted at that age that I would not have known what to do with "gay" or even if "gay" was a term then. Homosexual was amongst all the other "fag" words and more, but I don't recall "gay" as such, and because of the attitude of the society I lived in even had I come to terms with my own sexuality (which was probably a non-starter anyway) I would have totally freaked out and probably done myself in. But your story makes me try to recall those days and my own experiences. We jacked off as boys at boarding school and there were the odd times we went a bit further, but I didn't even know about cock sucking then, otherwise we might have had a bit more fun. But bottom line is I have got involved in the story and am enjoying it. I have only partially come out now in my 60s. So much missed! Your story helps me re-live what might have been. Thanks.

Wow! What a magnificent saga. I did so enjoy it even though the last chapter was such a tear jerker. Brilliant to have had a peek into the future through the vision quest. I loved the complexity and felt much like one of the characters who said he needed a programme to get a handle on who was who! So many great themes floating around in the story too and so much love. I love the love! I'll never be able to look at horses in quite the same light as before. You have given me a new respect for these magnificent animals. And, of course, such a wonderful affirmation of gay love and life at its best. Thank you for helping us all to believe in ourselves and to live like your young men have lived in these pages. What a privilege to have read this story. Thank you so much for writing.

Thanks for a really great read. I loved this book. The characters are great, the horses tremendous, and the story line so very gently intriguing and satisfying. I am pleased there is another part as there are lots of threads out there that have not been tied up, so that is good.

Thanks for a great story. I loved it all.

Wow! It just gets better and better. Loved the visit to the rescue ranch. What a beautiful thing to do. Loved that Spin found his dream horse. Loved the night at the ranch with all three pairs going off - that was great! Thanks for such a splendid chapter.

Wow! Can't believe you introduce a Rhodesian Ridgeback. You really touch my heart! Are they still called "Rhodesian" ridgebacks? The name comes from the country that was called Rhodesia but is now Zimbabwe. That's where I live, so that's what makes me excited about this. The ridgeback is a magnificent dog and was bred originally, I believe, as a lion hunting dog. I don't think much breeding of them is done locally in Zimbabwe any longer, which is such a shame. No market here unfortunately. This, of course, makes me realize (duh!) that you are also a dog man, and a big dog man by the looks of the dogs here. We have owned Great Dane crosses and loved them, then had an English Mastiff who made a name for himself amongst our parents and school children (we ran a school). [sorry. Got a bit carried away with dogs and veered off the story! Forgive me!] Loving the story because of your characters and your special animals - horses and dogs. What a joy! Thank you for writing.

Loving this story and love the way you tell it. It has such a sweet, gentle, romantic quality about it and the characters and the horses are all so beautiful. It brings tears to my eyes as I read. I am a totally smitten romantic and this story really does it for me. Love the way each of the lads bonds in their unique connection to one of the horses. It adds such a delightful magic to the whole story. And, yes, I am not a horse person, but after reading a few chapters here how can one not become a horse lover. Thank you for writing.

Had to go back to this ch to do a final review. It wouldn't let me do a review on ch 25, probably cos I did that with the first read in Aug 2013! Glad I read this again though. It was just as heart-warming as the first read. Zu and Zan are really great. Loved them to bits! Made me see folk like Zan in a new light altogether. Thanks for a really enjoyable read again. Your good!

I'm sure I read this before as I recognised all the characters while I was reading Bad Stereotypes and particularly remember the names - how can one forget them - Zupan & Xander and Zolpan! Where do you come up with these? But having read the earlier story at long last, now I better read this again as I'm sure I'll get lots more out of it than last time. Love your exploration of the predicament of the gay man as well as the huge variety of expression. I read a poster this morning which said "I DID NOT CHOOSE TO BE GAY. I JUST GOT LUCKY". Wow! It warmed my heart. Being of such variety in a limited range it so difficult to find a gay soul mate, but of course, Mr Romantic is going to write a story in which the impossible happens. How I wish it happened for me in real life! Maybe I should write my romantic ideal in a homophobic environment extreme! Haha!

Monday 2nd September 2013
Jaro_423 commented on Sasha Distan's story chapter in Monday 2nd September 2013
That was such an interesting exploration of a homophobic gay and why he reacted the way he did. You do delve into some interesting stuff and make such a good story out of it; so satisfying and fulfilling a read. Love the twists and turns in the story, the humour, the romance, the drama. It's all good. Thank you for writing. You're amongst the best. -
This sounds more like my kind of story than the Atlantis one. I like the gay/straight player thing! I like the masculine guy! I don't like camp and that ilk. And this looks to be right up my street. The sound of his own place at the bar and a job for summer being his own man. Way to go! Looking forward to sharing his summer too.

Not much into this kind of fantasy but it was fun and it did delight. Thank you.

Another really enjoyable read. You write so well and develop your characters excellently. I hope to learn lots from reading your stories on how to write. Love the way you create such diverse characters and then give us insight into how each one is responding and reacting to those around them so we get their view on other characters too which fills in our view of them. It was so interesting also to see them in different circumstances and how they react to each other (I'm thinking here of how freaked Jared was when Cole attacked his brother). What I particularly love about your story is how wonderfully positive and gay-affirming it is. I love that you love happy endings! I also love that you write about men loving men and make your characters wonderfully masculine. That is such a turn on for me. I'm not into horses but you make me love them. I love animals generally so it is not a big step, but horses have always seemed rather big and rather uncomfortable to ride. The last time I rode took me a while to unbend and loosen up again so I was not tempted to try again.

That's great. Pleased that you are being published and wish you every success in your writing.

Epilogue - Get Your Cowboy On, All Year Round
Jaro_423 commented on Sasha Distan's story chapter in Epilogue - Get Your Cowboy On, All Year Round
I read this almost straight through from start to finish - a break for sleeping/working/eating! I loved it. It is such a delightfully positive, romantic, beautiful story. I was thinking I so somehow got into Rhyder's shoes and yet I am in my 60s and I never clicked with horses in my life or had anything to do with his environment or country, etc. So that must be your gift to make it possible for the impossible! It was a feel good story all the way and makes such a nice change to the reality of gay life and it's issues. Though the reality of my life is so very remote from all of this it also left me feeling a little of how I wish my life was like his. Thanks for writing. Appreciate your hard work. (Need somebody to proof read though as there lots of little typos that are distracting.) -
Thanks for the info. Will check it out.

Hey, Nephy, I did just add a couple of reviews on Goodreads. Hope you like them. They are under James Roberts.
